Public Schools And Public School
Don't you hate when you're at the checkout line buying twelve watermelons when the cashier tells
you that your total is 3x^2 + 2y–4? This has most likely never happened to you, yet these are the
closest examples of "real life situations" we are teaching in public school. You may, however, felt
the frustration of trying to do taxes, buy a house, or balance a checkbook for the first time and felt
underprepared. Our public school system leaves students unprepared for the adult world. Public k12
school curriculums don't teach students to be informed adults, but rather teach them to recite random
facts for tests without absorbing the information or applying it to life. Many high school graduates
feel underprepared for college or to for the workforce, let alone everyday adult responsibilities.
Students are all different people and may require different paths and methods of learning in order to
be successful or fulfilled in life. I feel that we leave students graduating high school with some
useless and skewed information but little knowledge on how to function in the adult world.
Most 18–year–olds know the quadratic formula but not how to balance their checkbooks. They
know every date and name and fact about the civil war but are uninformed about racial tensions
today. In a famous interview with legendary rapper and cultural icon Tupac Shakur, he said, "There
should be a class on drugs. There should be a class on sex education, a real sex education class. Not

Public Schools Should Be Public School
Public schools are considered the normal thing to do for children. When one thinks of where they
see their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents
dread going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they
"legally" must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course,
there are private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better
for students if public school is not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by
the thought that one must "legally" go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights
are what all people have no matter what. The twenty–sixth is education. It is stated clearly that
education should be free and that technical and professional education should be readily available
and accessible to anyone. Education also must be focused on encouraging overall tolerance and
friendships. Parents also have a right to decide on the type of school a child will utilize. (OHCHR)
The key word here is "type." Most people would think public school is either their only or most
obvious or easiest option and would choose that over other possibilities. Everyone in the United
States between the ages of six to 16 must receive an education in a public or state accredited private
school with exemptions for homeschooling or online classes. (FindLaw) This means that any type of
education would

Public School Vs. Public Schools
In the 21th century there seem to be a thin line between the wealth and the poor in our schools
educational system. We need to help improve our school board with better textbooks, classes, and
equipment. How well educated is our students who went to American public schools? How much
diversity is in American public schooling? Does the middle to upper class students have an
advantage for getting a better education than low income students? The American Dream and public
school; statistic say that kids in private schools are much more educated than public school students
because they have more academic underachievement's. Yes our school system is corrupted and the
government does more for those who are wealth. There are four times more whites in private
schools, four times more black and Hispanic in public schools. We should invent in our children's
education so we can provide a better education, prepare them for college, and tutors by helping our
American public school system to push their limits to go further in educating our children. For
example students in private schools are using textbooks published in 2014, while students in public
schools are using textbooks published in 2011. Private schools have the funding to afford iPads to
give to their students for home and public schools can barely afford to keep all their computers up to
date. There are many problems in the American dream for a better education, the income rate in our
community, Work Ethic and the poverty in

The Importance Of Education For Public Schools
In Diane Ravitch Article she claims that the essentials of a good education is for public schools to
keep away from the standard testing because if takes time away from students furthering their
knowledge into learning, that not involves math or learning. Ravitch then continues into pointing
that the public system doesn't have the best educational learning system, which especially involves
minorities like black and Latino students. Ravitch proceeds into say that those types of minorities
haven't had any progress, because of the low income neighborhoods they live in. While she argues
that low– income communities don't have the same resources as private schools. Ravitch is refuting
privatized schools as the "answer" to bridging the gap between the educational scores of middle–
class whites and low–income minorities. Ravitch tells readers, "We know what works. What works
are the very opportunities that advantaged families provide for their children. In homes with
adequate resources, children get advantages that enable them to arrive in school healthy and ready to
learn". In contrast, children who are from disadvantaged homes are more likely to experience stress
and disruptions to their lives; be homeless; live in dangerous neighborhoods with inadequate
housing; have asthma; be exposed to lead; have untreated vision, hearing and dental issues; and have
an incarcerated or uneducated parent. They are "dragged down by the circumstances into which they
were born, through no fault of

School Choice In Public Schools
BACKGROUND
In schools the state rates as Underperforming or Lowest Five Percent, more than 60 percent of
students were reported as falling below minimum learning standards in reading, math, science, and
writing. Some of these schools showed extraordinary levels of failure in educating students. In 2010,
the state found the number of "F" schools, ranked Struggling to be 168 schools. In 2016, the state
Index found the number of "F" schools, ranked Underperforming or Lowest Five Percent increased
by 117 percent to 365. At the same time, per–student education spending from all sources for the
years 2011 to 2016 increased by 27 percent, rising from $9,785 to $12,439.

Again, charter schools take no money out of public education because they are part of the public
education system. Due to their immense popularity, charter schools are constantly at capacity, and
must hold lotteries for each entering class. This results in most charter schools having to retain lists
of families wanting to get in. Nationally, 3.1 million students attend 6,900 charter public schools in
43 states, and about one million students are on charter school waiting lists. In Washington State,
2,500 students attend 10 charter public schools, and two more charter schools are scheduled to open
in Fall 2018.
KEY ISSUES
UNIONS
The major obstacle to giving parents access to school choice are public–sector labor unions that
profit from a closed educational system. In non–right–to–work states, like Washington State,
membership in the union (Washington Education Association, or WEA) is mandatory for most
school district employees, and all public school teachers. Any teacher who does not make the
required payments to the union (generally about $1,000 a year) is fired. The WEA sees allowing
parents to have school choice as a threat, because if parents have a choice to send their child to a
better performing school, they will take it, and that choice will weaken the union's access to money
and power that is has within a closed public education system. In Washington, the WEA has worked
for years to close every charter school in the state. As of the time this

Meals Tax For Public Schools
Meals Tax On November 8th, voters will be asked to vote for or against the Meals Tax. This meals
tax would be imposed on prepared foods and restaurant meals. The Meals Tax was proposed by
Fairfax County. The reason for this Meals Tax is to fund public schools and county services. The
seventy percent will go to Fairfax County Public Schools. Also, the thirty percent will go towards
capital improvements, county services and property tax relief. It would impose a four percent tax on
top of the existing six percent sales tax. The Meals Tax will support Fairfax County children and
help protect the quality of life for all. The Meals Tax would predictably harm more of low middle
class families. In these tough economic times, this tax will be no help and it will hurt people. There
are many questions to the Meals Tax. What is Meals Tax? The definition of this tax is taxes incurred
in addition to a state's sales tax on the purchase of prepared foods that are eaten in restaurant or to–
go. The media said that Meals Tax would be up to four percent. The actual range is various from
between 0.5 percent to as high as 5.5 percent. There are other cities that charge a tax. Cities like
Miami, Virginia Beach, Dever, Milwaukee, Boston, and Washington D.C. Chicago has high
combined tax of ten point seventy–five percent. There are lot of concerns to this issue. Why is the
government imposing this tax and proposing to the community? Why are people against this tax?

The Importance Of Public School And Public Schools
Public schools provide an environment where young people can discover who they are meant to
become. John Holt's essay, "School Is Bad For Children" emphasizes the ways the public school
system destroys a student's imagination and willingness to learn. This is not the case for every
school. Schools are often a safe place for students to learn not only the academic material but, they
are also places for students to develop their talents while building a strong support system. The
government can not regulate every school to make sure each student is getting exactly what each
student deserves. While the generic system is easy to maintain and to teach, there is no guarantee
learning is occurring for the students. Public schools help each student navigate their own minds by
providing a general education by which the students can choose what they do with their knowledge
after they graduate. Without conventional public schooling, many students would not have the
chance to learn, schools can provide an adequate education regardless of the location of teaching,
and public schools are safe places for children with unidealistic family lives. In the United States of
America the gap between upper and lower class is growing and public education provides an outlet
from poverty. The amount of Americans living in the middle class is decreasing. If the US decided
to change the public school system and reform schools to be exactly how Holt describes, only the
wealthy would be able to afford

Private Schools Vs. Public Schools
A school is a that place which is designed to provide learning spaces as well as environments for the
teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Schools are the roots of every children in
his/her life. With the help of school students grasps wide array of knowledge from school which is
beneficial for them in their future. However, some people argue that private schools are better over
public school. From my point of view, private school are better because it is enriched with academic
opportunities, well qualify staff and extracurricular activities as compared to public School. Hence, I
agree with this statement that private schools are better than public schools.
The reason why private schools are better than public schools because it enriched with academics'
opportunities to a great extend rather than public schools. It is true that private schools have more
rigorous academic programs such as Advanced Placement courses are commonly found in private
schools. There courses are not less than a boon for a student in their long run because it leads to a
various kind of jobs from which they can easily earn a handsome salary. Moreover, international
students can work full time after the academics' opportunity from private schools as well as global
internships are available for undergraduate and graduate students of all disciplines in more than

Public School System Analysis
discusses the reasoningand history behind our public school system in America. In some ways I
agree with him; the public school system is in definite need of revamping, while educators are in
desperate need of anew system to teach our kids. According to Gatto, the school system in America
was meant tocopy the Prussian school system. Regardless of whether or not this is true, I think the
biggestquestion should be why we have not done anything to reform the school system? There
should beno reason for graduates to feel as if they have wasted the last fifteen years of their life with
pointless busy work. The creativity that was once praised has been pushed aside for a curriculumthat
is based on "establishing fixed habits of reaction to authority." Rather than praisingindividualism
and innovation, Gatto believes our school system emphasizes the exact opposite, conformity and
inanity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Public Education In Public Schools: Article Analysis
As Michael A. Resnick, associate executive director for advocacy and issues management at the
National School Boards Association, writes, "Public education means a tuition–free, publicly funded
system that must provide an education to each child in a neighborhood school within a publicly
governed school system." If tuition is defined as the cost to attend, then this statement is technically
true. However, if tuition is thought of as fees in general, then today's public schooling system is
contradicting itself. Although public education was originally defined as a free system, being a
student at a public school is accompanied by a host of costs nowadays, which for some students, can
limit the experience.
The current rules and regulations of public schools have been shaped by a long history of education.
According to "Schooling in the USA," during the colonial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The article "Is Public Education Really Free?" explains that when budget cuts were made in 2012–
2013, the purpose was to keep taxes from rising; however, families are ending up paying some of
what they would have in paid taxes in school supplies (Ain). School supplies are just the surface of
what the budget cuts are forcing parents to pay. Liz Margolis, a spokeswoman for Ann Arbor Public
Schools claims, "We're facing huge budget cuts–$60 million over the past five years. It's become a
financial burden for us to offer a seventh class" (qtd. in Gellman). According to "The Rising Costs
of a 'Free' Public Education," this Ann Arbor School District faced possibly having to pay a $100 fee
to take an additional, seventh class. Parents of the school started a lawsuit over the issue and,
fortunately, won (Gellman). However, some schools' parental figures do not have the money or the
motivation to fight for their child's education that is being put in jeopardy thanks to budget cuts as

The Dilemmas Of Public Education And Public School...
The greatly discussed dilemma of having a child be taught in a public school setting versus a
homeschool setting has been evaluated by parents since the idea was first introduced in the 1970's.
Public schooling had been the standard method of teaching since it is a requirement for states to
provide public, free education for children in grades K–12. However, the backlash against the
system began when two educational theorists and supporters of school reform, John Holt and
Raymond Moore, started to question both the techniques and the products of public schools. Some
parents went on to support the ideas of them and began to teach their children in the environment of
their own homes for several different reasons. Some included moral or religious reasons, a desire for
high educational achievement, dissatisfaction with public schools' instructional program, or
concerns about drugs and peer pressure in a public school environment. Child development
specialists believe that homeschooled children are isolated from the outside world, therefore making
them socially handicapped. If being exposed to this type of education on an elementary school level,
the child can suffer from the lack of fundamental development of effective social skills needed for a
lifetime ahead of them.
It is believed that by restricting children from the real world and its many problems through home
schooling, they may never get the chance to learn both life lessons and social interaction skills on
their own

Public School Vs. Public Schools
Many people struggle with the attitude toward paying property taxes, especially if they do not use
the public school system. Many individuals choose to send their children to private schools or to
homeschool them. Should these citizens be required to pay property taxes? Also, what about the
citizens who do not have children? Should they be required to pay the tax? The taxes being referred
to are the property taxes that public school education greatly depends on.
It has been a debate since public schools were created of whether or not citizens who choose not to
enroll their children in a public school should be paying property taxes that support it. While a tax is
a fee charged by a government on a product, income, or activity, a property tax is a tax assessed on
real estate by the local government. Property tax is usually based on the value of the property
(including the land) that someone owns. Owning property requires one to pay property taxes. The
majority of those property taxes go toward public schooling and education.
Although not all schools are equal, America spends over $500 billion a year on public elementary
and secondary education. The Federal Education Budget Project explains the three types of funding
for public education. All three levels of government – federal, state, and local – contribute to
education funding. States typically provide a little less than half of all elementary and secondary
education funding. Local governments generally contribute

When it comes to a child's education, parents want the best the school has to offer their children.
Parents want a prosperous future for their child which is not only health, but a well–educated one.
Education is of the utmost importance especially because it will impact the child the most in the
long run. Private schools offer ample education opportunities. There are some factors to consider
when choose a private school education over a public one. Many times, the private schools are

Granted, the path is easier than the other. Public schools allow all children to become enroll; parents

Parents worry about where they are going to send their kids to school. There is a big debate among
parents in choosing where to send their children to school. People want to give their child the best
education. The two major style of schooling is public and private schools. Public schools are schools
that are set up and run by the government. Private schools are schools that are privately owned and
are not controlled by the government. Both schools have positive and negative aspects. There are
many factors to look at when choosing the best school. When choosing a school one must look at
admission policy, learning styles, school environment, special needs, and college admissions.
Each school systems have different admission policies. Public schools must admit all students
assigned to them by the district. "Because not all public schools have resources for helping students
with special needs, enrolling a child with a learning disability or other disorder may entail a more
complex process"(Greatschools). For the most part, the school district will help admit the student to
a school that will best suit him. Students must apply or join a raffle if they want to go to the public
school of their specific choice. Private schools are more selective. There is an application process
for private schools. Students must go through interviews, tests, and even write an admission essay.

Public Education : Private School Vs. Public School
Being a seventeen–year–old boy from savannah, I have been raised within the walls of government,
and tax funded schools, all my life. And it is at this point that I notice that it has not had any impact
on my success thus far. I have attended Marshpoint Elementary, Coastal Middle School, And Islands
High School. These schools are not only all public, but also within a one–mile radius of my house.
My parents believed in the public–school system to help extend my growth into the college scene.
And I have done exactly that. I came from a middle–class house whose income was well into the
triple digits, and both my Mother and Father were both very religious. So, it seems that the arrow
would have pointed in the private school direction at one point, right? Well it never did. My parents,
as well as myself, never believed that private school would ever benefit me more than public school
would. And I still stand by this today.
Raising a kid cannot possibly be an easy task. With the responsibility of raising a child, there comes
a point in every parent/guardian's life that they much choose between the two forms of schooling

simple task. All parents have their own thought process on why one is better than the other but by
far public school has the most to offer over private school. While choosing between the two, parents

Public Schools And Private Schools
Schools have been around since the 18th century; starting with private schools and then public
schools came around in the 19th century (Kaplan and Williams, "American Education"). From there
how to get an education has drastically changed. There are several types of schools that you can put
your child in; homeschool, virtual schools, advanced placement schools, Charter schools, private
school and public school. The top options are public schools and private schools. There are different
considerations you have to take in to choose the best school for your child; cost, average class size,
development of social skills, bullying rates and graduation rates. We will hit on each of these topics
further, as well as discuss the other schooling options to help you decide the best school for your
child. So, between public and private schools and the other non–traditional options; which is the
best option for your child?
One of the top considerations parents take into account when looking at what type of school to put
their child in is cost. The consideration of cost can be the deciding factor when it comes to putting
your child in public school over private school. In the United States the average annual cost for
sending your child to a private school is $8,411 for elementary and $12,900 for high school. The
cost then varies even more by state. In Washington the average annual cost for private school is
$8,877 elementary and $10,525 for high school. In Idaho the average annual cost

Difference Between Public And Public Schools
Private and public educational intuitions in Michigan have been in the industries the 1800s. Many
people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how
students adapt and learn over the years. By looking back at local articles and information, I can find
the information needed to examine how local private schools and public schools differ but, in
addition, have similarities. Private schools have a reputation of having higher standards in certain
aspects of education, but for some, that's not the case. In an article by the Washington Post, it states
"We found that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more
advantages associated with academic success–things like money and highly–educated parents–we
find that public elementary schools are, on average, simply more effective at teaching mathematics"
(Strauss). This, for instance, may be because private schools are more expensive than public
schools. You have to pay anywhere from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where
for a public institution the costs are free. The cost is so expensive in the private institutions that,
after student's finish school and receive their diplomas, many families will struggle financially to
send their children to higher education due to all the money they were spending in previous years.
"For example, private school students are more likely than their public school counterparts to sit in

Public vs Non–Public School Labor Markets
Private versus public education, good versus bad, rich versus poor. A debate that has greatly

competitive teacher labor market for public and private schools K–12. With the question, is there a
difference between teaching in a public or private school? If so, which one has the advantage in the

Every parent wants their child to receive the best education possible, in preparation for the future.
This leads to the question, what factors determine a school more desirable for receiving an
education? If every student is presented with the same material, then what is difference between
attending a public high school versus a private high school? Both of these questions can be
answered with one simple word, teachers. Like any other occupation, the employer is looking to find
the best candidate suitable for a certain position. Schools are looking to find the best teachers to
employ in hopes of increasing student achievement, resulting in a good overall reputation of the
school. Thus creating a competitive labor market for teachers.
History:
Schooling in America originated in the 18th century, with the creation of privatized schooling.
Selective students were given the opportunity to study various subjects. Most of the students who
were given an opportunity to attend school at that time were white and came from wealthy families,
and unlike today, most of the teachers were male. The formation of public schools didn't happen
until the 1840's, which was created by the government in effort to provide education to those who
could not afford it at the time. The most qualified teachers were often found teaching in the private
schools, leaving the less qualified teachers in the public schools.

Benefits Of School Uniforms In Public Schools
Every year around August and September school comes around, and that means shopping. It's a day
before school begins and no worries. The school uniform policy requires for the student just have 4
blue polo shirts and brown, blue, or black khakis for the males and khakis or a plaid skirt for the
females. When school uniforms topics are brought up in the United States most people are not in
favor. If only they took a closer consideration what school uniforms bring to the table that mind set
would be transformed. We as a country should adopt an open mind because we can take a few notes
from other countries whom have already adopted school uniforms into their public education
regimen. This is one reason public schools in the United States should make school uniforms
mandatory in public schools. When school uniforms come to mind they are often associated with
private schools and charter schools. Private school or charter schools were not the ones to start
implementing school uniforms into their school requirements. In fact, the uniforms were first
recognized in England around 1222. The students wore robe like uniforms called the "Clappa
Clausa." At This time there were no private schools but instead the impoverished "Charity Kids"
were associated with the school uniforms. Over time they started becoming associated with the
higher–class citizens of England. As the uniforms were becoming more popular new accessories

Christian Schools Vs Public Schools
A Christian school is a school ran on Christian principles or by a Christian organization. In fact,
according to religious, educational, and political cultures, the nature of Christian schools varies from
country to country. Because a strict separation of church and state is present in some countries, all
religious schools are private. In other countries, there is an established church whose teachings from
an integral part of the state–operated educational system is current. Primarily, Christian education is
for God, whereas public education is primarily for the state. Because public schools' purpose does
not benefit God, they must leave the Word of God from their curriculum. Humanism is the content
of public schools for this reason. To be a Christian school, a Christian school must have the Word of
God as the content of their curriculum. While the Christian school properly understands that God
has placed the control in the hands of the parents, the control of education as far as the public
systems concerned is in the hands of the state. Whereas public schools funded by the state charging
tuition is not allowed, Christian schools privately funded however do charge tuition. ... Show more

The government is the reason we have order, safety, schools, roads, and many more things that we
don't think too much about in our everyday lives. There are two branches of government the
Democrats, and the Republicans. Our president, Donald Trump, is a republican. He believes in more
investment in our military than our schooling. We already took a pay cut in our schooling system
because of that, and the money that is going towards our schools are either going to public or private
schools. But is it really necessary for the government to fund private schools when students already
have to pay tuition? The government should be funding more towards public schooling.
By funding private schools, what will happen to the public schools that rely on that money from the
government to provide an education to the students in their community? What if the public schools
close, and the only other option that is reasonably close is a private school? A lot of people cannot
afford the tuition cost of private schools. The average cost of a private elementary school in
Michigan is 9,000 dollars per year. When kids move up to high school the cost jumps up to 13,500
dollars per year. (Average Private School Cost, 1) Most middle class families cannot afford the

becoming difficult keeping the Christian value in public school systems since new religions and new
beliefs are flooding into the nation let alone the school systems. I see that private education cost
thousands of dollars each semester to stay in school while public school doesn 't cost nearly a few
hundreds of dollars if any. Public school 's get treated so differently than private school 's in every
way because at private school 's you get a uniform whereas public school 's parents spend money to
make sure students have clothes to wear five days of the week. Private school 's focus on religious
beliefs with uniforms, statues, buildings and etc, while public schools doesn 't have

Religion In Public Schools
Religion and Public Schools
Religion in public schools have always been a big debate as to whether or not to allow religion in
schools. There are many factors that go into religion at schools. Although the practice of religion is
not currently allowed in public schools, many schools have religious clubs and prayer gatherings to
go against not being able to practice religion in schools.
Although public schools are not allowed to practice and focus on teaching one religion, due to the
first amendment Freedom of Religion Students are able to wear any form of religious clothing, such
as t–shirts, wrist bands, neckwear, and any other clothing of religious belief. Schools are also able to
sponsor gospel choir that performs praise songs. Public schools ... Show more content on

There are still many rules and things that schools cannot do due to this rule. For example a school
football team cannot say a prayer on the loudspeaker before the kickoff at a game. Any form of
prayer or any teaching that is for one single religion is also unconstitutional.
The argument over separation and church and public schools has been discussion for many years.
Many people have very strong opinions for or against the separation, There are also those who have
a circumstantial opinion. The separation of church and state is the highly debatable subtopic of
religion and prayer in public schools. While some believe that prayer in school is beneficial to the
growth and learning of children and their faith, others believe that it could completely ruin their
faith (Mclinn).
Public schools have different clubs and organizations that support religion. Most of these
organizations are in support of one religion, where it should be for many different religions. In a
school with many different students, not every student will have the same religion. There are many
different religions that makes it impossible for every student to be pleased through organizations or
even with courses at the school. Religion is something that should be very personal and private

Pros And Cons Of Homeschooling And The Public And Public...
Homeschooling Every education system put in place by the government will offer an excellent
opportunity for young children to learn new skill and information as well as discovering their
interest and unique qualities. There is no doubt that children are talented. Therefore, we need to
support them as they grow up (Ray, 2015). There is no significant difference between
homeschooling and the public schools, charter schools, private schools and all other models as each
has pros and cons. Homeschooling is a progressive system around the country and the world in
general, where parents conclude to educate their kids at home instead of taking them to a public and
private school. Most parents chose to homeschool their young kids for various reasons including
being dissatisfied with the current education system, religious beliefs, and different educational
philosophies. However, whether or not the child is taken to a public, private school or homeschooled
the most important thing is the achievement at the end of the day. To be honest, sometimes there is
zero fun in homeschooling. In most cases, children who are homeschooled suffer from what is called
homeschooled friend syndrome. This is where the kid feels that he is less of a kind and real friend to
other children who attend private and public schools because they don't see each other during the
day. The kid at home has no time to go to school dances with other children and have fun. In school,
there is much fun

Diversity In Public Schools
Public schools are open to everyone regardless of disability, wealth, status, race or religion when
private and parochial schools are not.
You are essentially guaranteed a chance for an education at a public school.
2b. Why did you feel it was the strongest argument? (3 points)
When there is diversity is gives the schools a chance to experiment and develop and find the best
practices.
When using the standardized tools afforded to public schools it can assist in closing the gaps in the
terms of race and financially. When taxes are paid and divested into our school systems, it is for the
students to grow academically and develop leadership skills. This should instill a better future for
all.
Also, what would be the actual monetary cost

Private Or Public School?
Private or Public School?
Adrianna N. Pillow

Abstract
In today's society, receiving a good education has become of the utter most importance. The real
choice that is being faced now is what type of schooling program kids should be sent to. Should it be
private school, with smaller class sizes or public school, where the massive attendance count tends
to make kids learning last on the lists of priorities? The obvious choice should be where the kids
have better opportunity to thrive, and this would be at private schools. Since there is not an over
whelming amount of kids in attendance there is not only greater opportunity to learn, but the
children are what comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue of where to send one's child for schooling has recently become a growing problem in not
only America, but around the globe. Why should parents send their children to a school they must
pay extra for, when there are schools funded by the government and their taxes? Part of the answer
to this question can be found inside of the question: public schools are state funded. This means that
schools will be littered with thousands of other students, and not allow for enough focus on actually
teaching the kids (West & Woessmann 2008). The reasoning behind this ties into the issue of over
population in schools that are unable to accommodate the growing number of college–bound
individuals. The high influx of students causes the student to teacher ratio to skyrocket through the
roof (Chen 2011). It is shown that "proper student to teacher ratio count is about 12:1," however, in
most public schools Chen (2011) states that the more common ratio averages to about 45:1. A rising
query of educators is what true problem is there with having a higher ratio. Answering this questions
requires a few things to be taken into consideration. In a classroom sized at forty–five students, at
least two will have an attention disorder, and three more will have a more prominent learning
disability, such as "dyslexia" (Chen 2011). These specific students

Prayer In Public School Vs. Private Schools And Public...
Prayer in school is a controversial topic of today's time. There are different pros and cons when it
comes to bringing religion into schools. Varying from state to state the court's perspective has played
a major role in the decision of having prayer in schools, as well as the opinions of society.
Understanding that your personal opinion is not the same as everyone else's is important and others
may have different point of views. The controversial topics that give examples for each position
allows you to realize whether you agree or disagree. You could start out with a set opinion about it,
but after reading the different sides and stories it may change your mind. There is a difference in
public schools and private schools that practice prayer in school. If you sign your child up for a
private school and the handbook states that they allow prayer in school, then you cannot later go
against it. Public schools, on the other hand work for the government so anything they say goes.
Private schools are allowed more freedom and less restriction on prayer in school. The students in a
private school pay tuition, which funds the school. Private schools are known as independent
schools, which means they are non governmental and not administered by local, state or national
government. Students are allowed more freedom of religion and allowed to express their religious
beliefs more openly(Prayer in School Pros and Cons List, NYLN).
Public schools are ran and funded by the

have come to light regarding equal access and religious activities and actions occurring in the
school. First the principal observed the English teacher, Mr. Wrighteous, prominently displaying the
Bible on his desk. The teacher also incorporated and promoted religious teachings in a class lesson.
He offered a Bible as a reward for good work. This same teacher leads a weekly Bible study and

Charter School Vs. Public Schools
Students Success
Why choose to go to Charter School rather than public school? Charter schools are public school of
choice, meaning families choose for their children. Federal legislation provides grants to help
charters to manage start–up costs. They create better educational opportunities for the students
therefore they have higher expectations in teaching. Charter Schools and zoned (public) schools are
tuition free but unfortunately not everyone can get in to Charter school, since it works by lottery.
Everyone has the opportunity to apply and has a choice to attend Charlet School if the students are
lucky enough to get in. Charter schools are more effective for three reasons: they have higher
graduation rates, teachers are more prepared and devoted to their students, and teachers take a
greater responsibility for their students as they compete against Zoned Schools.
How important is it for a student to graduate? Isn't it a waste of time going to school for twelve
years and wasting all the government money and still not receive a diploma? That is why students
need to work harder to earn it and Charter schools are the ones that offer students to become more
educated. Joffee states, "Charter schools have higher API scores and graduation rates than traditional
schools: Academically, comparing LAUSD Alliance charter high schools to LAUSD traditional high
schools located in the same neighborhoods, we found the Alliance schools have decisively higher

Definition Of The Problem Of Public Schools
Chapter 1: DEFINITION OF THE PROBLEM
Introduction
Education is the foundation of success. "The operation and oversight of public schools in the United
States is typically the responsibility of states and local communities". (Anderson, L.) Parents make
decisions about their children 's education with the hope that they are receiving a quality education
that prepares them for college and eventually a successful career. The amount of funding available
for education influences the effectiveness and efficiency of the institution. The enrollment
population along with teacher–student ratio are inputs which effect learning proficiency. The
household income influences the area a family can afford to live and the geographic location
determines ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The clear statement is that individuals without an education are at a disadvantage compared to those
with an education. The economic status of most households does not allow for parents to be able to
afford private school tuition, the alternative is a public school. The options to choose for public
funded schools are charter or standard public school. Are charter school academic performance
achievements better than standard private schools?
The sub–problems which will be addressed in this project are 1) Student to teacher ratio and the
effect is had on academic proficiency. 2) The expenditure per student cost and the effect on
SAT/ACT averages.3) Graduation percentages and the probability of attending higher education
institutions. 4) Teacher certifications/experience according to the No Child Left behind Act and the
comparison between charter and public schools.
Purpose of the Research
The objective of this research is to determine if attendance to a charter school increases the chances
of a student continuing on to a post–secondary institution. The research will examine the
performance testing results between charter and standard public schools. The research will uncover
whether charter school graduates have a significant advantage over public school graduates. If there
is a distinct advantage, should independent school districts look into increasing its

Public School Of Public Schools
INTRODUCTION
On April 14, 1829, the Louisville Mayor and Council established a public school for children less
than sixteen years of age on August 17, 1829 known as the Louisville Public School. The first public
school building was opened September 1830 in the Louisville School district. The Jefferson County
Public Schools trace their beginnings to an act of the legislature of Kentucky, which established a
system of common schools in the state in 1838. April 1, 1975 Louisville Public Schools and
Jefferson County Public Schools merge establishing Jefferson County Public Schools District.
Jefferson County Public School System operates as a hierarchical system administered by 7 elected
members who are referred to as the board of education. Their overall responsibility is to oversee the
development, operation, and improvement of JCPS as well as select and hire a superintendent,
which is currently Dr. Donna Hargens she is responsible for implementing the school board 's vision
by making decisions about educational programs, spending, staff, and facilities. JCPS has several
internal organizations that provide support to students, staff, and community that are overseen by
chief officers. The vision of Jefferson County Public School is to ensure that all JCPS students
graduate prepared to reach their full potential and contribute to our society throughout life. In order
to make this successful JCPS has internal organizations that provide support beyond academics to

Public School Funding For Public Schools
Most people believe that students do better in well–funded schools and that public education should
provide a level playing field for children. Nearly half of the funding for public schools in the United
States, however, is provided through local taxes, generating large differences in funding between
wealthy and impoverished communities (National Center for Education Statistics, 2000a). Efforts to
reduce these disparities have provoked controversy and resistance. Public school funding the United
States comes from federal, state, and local sources, but because nearly half of those funds come
from local property taxes, the system generates large funding differences between wealthy and
impoverished communities. Such differences exist among states, among school districts within each
state, and even among schools within specific districts. In 1998, for example, the state with the
highest average level of public school funding was New Jersey, with an annual funding rate of
$8,801 per student, whereas the state with the lowest average level was Utah, with a yearly rate of
$3,804 per student. This means that the typical student attending a public school in New Jersey was
provided more than twice the fiscal resources allocated to his or her counterpart in Utah. Disparities
in per–student funding levels are actually greater within some states than among states as a group.
To illustrate, in 1998, public school districts in Alaska that were ranked at the 95th percentile for
per–student

Public School Vs. Public Schools
Public school education is identical important and should be taken very seriously. It is the basis that
leads to the future of everyone's life. The people who begin to lay down the pathway for education
are the teachers. Teachers in today's public school system world are one of the utmost crucial people
in America. They are the ones to encourage children to excel into their greatest self. Without
teachers, society would face a drastic downfall. There would not be many professions around. There
would not be any doctors to help save people's lives there would not be any police officers to protect
and serve, there would not be a president to lead this country. The public school education system as

Landry Parish are able to keep up with the technology. So the first thing that needs to be
implemented inside of the school in the parish is the type of technology that is available to the
students and teachers. Today's teachers and students depend heavily on different types of technology
that will help provided fast information. With the use of the computers it is highly beneficial,
because it helps with the use of research that may be required or helps lower the number of hardback
books that need to go around. The internet and computers serve as one the most important tool for
education. It allows educators to have other means of communication with their students not
limiting them to just learn something in one particular way. With all of the assets that technology
provides not all students have it at their disposal and the ones that do have it are limited. "According
to K–12 Connectivity over 40 million students in America's K–12 public schools are being left
behind due to them not being able to keep up with technology, 63 percent of schools do not have
enough bandwidth to meet the current needs for digital learning and 99 percent do not have the
bandwidth necessary." This is a major problem because while other students are building their skills
and are put in a better circumstance where they can learn more, others still rely on just the basic
things that are not helping them evolve more like textbooks and newspaper articles that are given

Public Education In Public Schools
Kids in America have been educated in public schools for years. Public education most certainly is
not cheap though, as in 2017 the education budget was approximately $69.4 billion(). Many believe
this is a little extreme and wish to lower the education budget, but that would only make things
worse. Education is one of the most important things in a civilization, and it is vital that its well
funded. However, much of the funding is going towards all the wrong things and America, despite
spending more on education than most other countries, is only slightly above average when it comes
to student performance(). The education system needs to be fixed by increasing the budget and

Public urban schools that serve as the epicenter of large thriving communities tend to have a
considerable number of students who come from homes of poverty. Providing assistance to students
who have challenges due to poverty becomes another factor when ensuring high achievement for all
students. For this reason, additional programs and monies have been utilized to meet this goal. The
idea of creating education legislation to assist disadvantaged citizens is not a new idea. As a matter
of fact, the federal government set aside land for schools to build in the late 18th century (Borman,

Public Education : Private School Vs. Public Schools
Education is not only important, it is a powerful weapon that we can use to change to change our
world. Parents try to provide us with the best education and influences in our lives until they no
longer can control it. The environment a child grows up in is critical to a child's development. There
are two different types of schools that parents generally choose from. Public schools are free to
attend, funded and controlled by the government and must follow state curriculum and assessment
models. Private schools are independently funded, can use any curriculum and assessment models
they want and requires a tuition to enroll. The private versus public school debate has been an
ongoing debate throughout the nation. Many parents have a difficult time choosing what school to
enroll their children in. Religion, the desire for same–sex education, extracurricular activities and
special education programs are factors that are considered when choosing schools. An abundance of
people have argued for years about their benefits and disadvantages. There are many areas which
one can compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of public and private schools:
curriculum, athletics, cost, admissions, teachers, etc.
A private school's curriculum can be chosen by the individual school charter instead of the state,
while public schools have to follow state education guidelines strictly. Although these guidelines can
be limiting, they make sure students get the basic education they

Private Schools vs. Public Schools
Choosing between a public or a private school for one's education is as important as deciding where
to invest one's hard–earned money–the consequences influence one's life forever. In the United
States, it is the law for every child to be educated. However, the decision as to where to go for one's
education is up to each individual. There is a great deal of debate as to which is the better option:
for–profit private schools or one's local public school. Ultimately, the decision is made regarding the
individual student's needs and capabilities; but if the opportunity is available, attending a private
school is more beneficial. Private schools provide a better quality of education than public schools.

Public schools have to meet curriculum requirements, but private schools can use their
independence to embrace new teaching methods and expand upon whichever subjects they need. For
example, a private school may have a highly advanced medical program, which most public schools
don't offer. Adolescents interested in that field would be able to learn important skills needed for that
career that are not taught at public schools. Students at all different learning levels will get
individualized instruction directed towards their skill level so they can improve in the most efficient
and effective way possible. "Private schools [can be] highly specialized, offering differentiated
learning, advanced curriculum, or programs geared towards specific religious beliefs" (Great
Schools). In this way they provide better quality education because they are able to tailor their
courses to make learning more effective. Instruction meets students' specific needs. The material
taught to them is more beneficial as it will relate to what they want to study after high school or
influence their career decisions. Private schools will teach students high moral standards
(specifically if they are religious schools) that will give students a more positive high school
experience. Moreover, since they have control over who and how many students attend their
schools, private schools can have smaller classes for students.

Public Schools And Public School

  • 1. Public Schools And Public School Don't you hate when you're at the checkout line buying twelve watermelons when the cashier tells you that your total is 3x^2 + 2y–4? This has most likely never happened to you, yet these are the closest examples of "real life situations" we are teaching in public school. You may, however, felt the frustration of trying to do taxes, buy a house, or balance a checkbook for the first time and felt underprepared. Our public school system leaves students unprepared for the adult world. Public k12 school curriculums don't teach students to be informed adults, but rather teach them to recite random facts for tests without absorbing the information or applying it to life. Many high school graduates feel underprepared for college or to for the workforce, let alone everyday adult responsibilities. Students are all different people and may require different paths and methods of learning in order to be successful or fulfilled in life. I feel that we leave students graduating high school with some useless and skewed information but little knowledge on how to function in the adult world. Most 18–year–olds know the quadratic formula but not how to balance their checkbooks. They know every date and name and fact about the civil war but are uninformed about racial tensions today. In a famous interview with legendary rapper and cultural icon Tupac Shakur, he said, "There should be a class on drugs. There should be a class on sex education, a real sex education class. • 3. Public Schools Should Be Public School Public schools are considered the normal thing to do for children. When one thinks of where they see their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents dread going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they "legally" must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course, there are private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better for students if public school is not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by the thought that one must "legally" go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights are what all people have no matter what. The twenty–sixth is education. It is stated clearly that education should be free and that technical and professional education should be readily available and accessible to anyone. Education also must be focused on encouraging overall tolerance and friendships. Parents also have a right to decide on the type of school a child will utilize. (OHCHR) The key word here is "type." Most people would think public school is either their only or most obvious or easiest option and would choose that over other possibilities. Everyone in the United States between the ages of six to 16 must receive an education in a public or state accredited private school with exemptions for homeschooling or online classes. (FindLaw) This means that any type of education would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Public School Vs. Public Schools In the 21th century there seem to be a thin line between the wealth and the poor in our schools educational system. We need to help improve our school board with better textbooks, classes, and equipment. How well educated is our students who went to American public schools? How much diversity is in American public schooling? Does the middle to upper class students have an advantage for getting a better education than low income students? The American Dream and public school; statistic say that kids in private schools are much more educated than public school students because they have more academic underachievement's. Yes our school system is corrupted and the government does more for those who are wealth. There are four times more whites in private schools, four times more black and Hispanic in public schools. We should invent in our children's education so we can provide a better education, prepare them for college, and tutors by helping our American public school system to push their limits to go further in educating our children. For example students in private schools are using textbooks published in 2014, while students in public schools are using textbooks published in 2011. Private schools have the funding to afford iPads to give to their students for home and public schools can barely afford to keep all their computers up to date. There are many problems in the American dream for a better education, the income rate in our community, Work Ethic and the poverty in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Importance Of Education For Public Schools In Diane Ravitch Article she claims that the essentials of a good education is for public schools to keep away from the standard testing because if takes time away from students furthering their knowledge into learning, that not involves math or learning. Ravitch then continues into pointing that the public system doesn't have the best educational learning system, which especially involves minorities like black and Latino students. Ravitch proceeds into say that those types of minorities haven't had any progress, because of the low income neighborhoods they live in. While she argues that low– income communities don't have the same resources as private schools. Ravitch is refuting privatized schools as the "answer" to bridging the gap between the educational scores of middle– class whites and low–income minorities. Ravitch tells readers, "We know what works. What works are the very opportunities that advantaged families provide for their children. In homes with adequate resources, children get advantages that enable them to arrive in school healthy and ready to learn". In contrast, children who are from disadvantaged homes are more likely to experience stress and disruptions to their lives; be homeless; live in dangerous neighborhoods with inadequate housing; have asthma; be exposed to lead; have untreated vision, hearing and dental issues; and have an incarcerated or uneducated parent. They are "dragged down by the circumstances into which they were born, through no fault of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. School Choice In Public Schools BACKGROUND In schools the state rates as Underperforming or Lowest Five Percent, more than 60 percent of students were reported as falling below minimum learning standards in reading, math, science, and writing. Some of these schools showed extraordinary levels of failure in educating students. In 2010, the state found the number of "F" schools, ranked Struggling to be 168 schools. In 2016, the state Index found the number of "F" schools, ranked Underperforming or Lowest Five Percent increased by 117 percent to 365. At the same time, per–student education spending from all sources for the years 2011 to 2016 increased by 27 percent, rising from $9,785 to $12,439. Again, charter schools take no money out of public education because they are part of the public education system. Due to their immense popularity, charter schools are constantly at capacity, and must hold lotteries for each entering class. This results in most charter schools having to retain lists of families wanting to get in. Nationally, 3.1 million students attend 6,900 charter public schools in 43 states, and about one million students are on charter school waiting lists. In Washington State, 2,500 students attend 10 charter public schools, and two more charter schools are scheduled to open in Fall 2018. KEY ISSUES UNIONS The major obstacle to giving parents access to school choice are public–sector labor unions that profit from a closed educational system. In non–right–to–work states, like Washington State, membership in the union (Washington Education Association, or WEA) is mandatory for most school district employees, and all public school teachers. Any teacher who does not make the required payments to the union (generally about $1,000 a year) is fired. The WEA sees allowing parents to have school choice as a threat, because if parents have a choice to send their child to a better performing school, they will take it, and that choice will weaken the union's access to money and power that is has within a closed public education system. In Washington, the WEA has worked for years to close every charter school in the state. As of the time this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Meals Tax For Public Schools Meals Tax On November 8th, voters will be asked to vote for or against the Meals Tax. This meals tax would be imposed on prepared foods and restaurant meals. The Meals Tax was proposed by Fairfax County. The reason for this Meals Tax is to fund public schools and county services. The seventy percent will go to Fairfax County Public Schools. Also, the thirty percent will go towards capital improvements, county services and property tax relief. It would impose a four percent tax on top of the existing six percent sales tax. The Meals Tax will support Fairfax County children and help protect the quality of life for all. The Meals Tax would predictably harm more of low middle class families. In these tough economic times, this tax will be no help and it will hurt people. There are many questions to the Meals Tax. What is Meals Tax? The definition of this tax is taxes incurred in addition to a state's sales tax on the purchase of prepared foods that are eaten in restaurant or to– go. The media said that Meals Tax would be up to four percent. The actual range is various from between 0.5 percent to as high as 5.5 percent. There are other cities that charge a tax. Cities like Miami, Virginia Beach, Dever, Milwaukee, Boston, and Washington D.C. Chicago has high combined tax of ten point seventy–five percent. There are lot of concerns to this issue. Why is the government imposing this tax and proposing to the community? Why are people against this tax? People are against it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Importance Of Public School And Public Schools Public schools provide an environment where young people can discover who they are meant to become. John Holt's essay, "School Is Bad For Children" emphasizes the ways the public school system destroys a student's imagination and willingness to learn. This is not the case for every school. Schools are often a safe place for students to learn not only the academic material but, they are also places for students to develop their talents while building a strong support system. The government can not regulate every school to make sure each student is getting exactly what each student deserves. While the generic system is easy to maintain and to teach, there is no guarantee learning is occurring for the students. Public schools help each student navigate their own minds by providing a general education by which the students can choose what they do with their knowledge after they graduate. Without conventional public schooling, many students would not have the chance to learn, schools can provide an adequate education regardless of the location of teaching, and public schools are safe places for children with unidealistic family lives. In the United States of America the gap between upper and lower class is growing and public education provides an outlet from poverty. The amount of Americans living in the middle class is decreasing. If the US decided to change the public school system and reform schools to be exactly how Holt describes, only the wealthy would be able to afford ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Private Schools Vs. Public Schools A school is a that place which is designed to provide learning spaces as well as environments for the teaching of students under the direction of teachers. Schools are the roots of every children in his/her life. With the help of school students grasps wide array of knowledge from school which is beneficial for them in their future. However, some people argue that private schools are better over public school. From my point of view, private school are better because it is enriched with academic opportunities, well qualify staff and extracurricular activities as compared to public School. Hence, I agree with this statement that private schools are better than public schools. The reason why private schools are better than public schools because it enriched with academics' opportunities to a great extend rather than public schools. It is true that private schools have more rigorous academic programs such as Advanced Placement courses are commonly found in private schools. There courses are not less than a boon for a student in their long run because it leads to a various kind of jobs from which they can easily earn a handsome salary. Moreover, international students can work full time after the academics' opportunity from private schools as well as global internships are available for undergraduate and graduate students of all disciplines in more than forty countries from which they can gain some medical experience and apply for medical vacancy in their future and country like ... • 17. Public School System Analysis discusses the reasoningand history behind our public school system in America. In some ways I agree with him; the public school system is in definite need of revamping, while educators are in desperate need of anew system to teach our kids. According to Gatto, the school system in America was meant tocopy the Prussian school system. Regardless of whether or not this is true, I think the biggestquestion should be why we have not done anything to reform the school system? There should beno reason for graduates to feel as if they have wasted the last fifteen years of their life with pointless busy work. The creativity that was once praised has been pushed aside for a curriculumthat is based on "establishing fixed habits of reaction to authority." Rather than praisingindividualism and innovation, Gatto believes our school system emphasizes the exact opposite, conformity and inanity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 19. Public Education In Public Schools: Article Analysis As Michael A. Resnick, associate executive director for advocacy and issues management at the National School Boards Association, writes, "Public education means a tuition–free, publicly funded system that must provide an education to each child in a neighborhood school within a publicly governed school system." If tuition is defined as the cost to attend, then this statement is technically true. However, if tuition is thought of as fees in general, then today's public schooling system is contradicting itself. Although public education was originally defined as a free system, being a student at a public school is accompanied by a host of costs nowadays, which for some students, can limit the experience. The current rules and regulations of public schools have been shaped by a long history of education. According to "Schooling in the USA," during the colonial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article "Is Public Education Really Free?" explains that when budget cuts were made in 2012– 2013, the purpose was to keep taxes from rising; however, families are ending up paying some of what they would have in paid taxes in school supplies (Ain). School supplies are just the surface of what the budget cuts are forcing parents to pay. Liz Margolis, a spokeswoman for Ann Arbor Public Schools claims, "We're facing huge budget cuts–$60 million over the past five years. It's become a financial burden for us to offer a seventh class" (qtd. in Gellman). According to "The Rising Costs of a 'Free' Public Education," this Ann Arbor School District faced possibly having to pay a $100 fee to take an additional, seventh class. Parents of the school started a lawsuit over the issue and, fortunately, won (Gellman). However, some schools' parental figures do not have the money or the motivation to fight for their child's education that is being put in jeopardy thanks to budget cuts as these parents ... • 21. The Dilemmas Of Public Education And Public School... The greatly discussed dilemma of having a child be taught in a public school setting versus a homeschool setting has been evaluated by parents since the idea was first introduced in the 1970's. Public schooling had been the standard method of teaching since it is a requirement for states to provide public, free education for children in grades K–12. However, the backlash against the system began when two educational theorists and supporters of school reform, John Holt and Raymond Moore, started to question both the techniques and the products of public schools. Some parents went on to support the ideas of them and began to teach their children in the environment of their own homes for several different reasons. Some included moral or religious reasons, a desire for high educational achievement, dissatisfaction with public schools' instructional program, or concerns about drugs and peer pressure in a public school environment. Child development specialists believe that homeschooled children are isolated from the outside world, therefore making them socially handicapped. If being exposed to this type of education on an elementary school level, the child can suffer from the lack of fundamental development of effective social skills needed for a lifetime ahead of them. It is believed that by restricting children from the real world and its many problems through home schooling, they may never get the chance to learn both life lessons and social interaction skills on their own ... • 23. Public School Vs. Public Schools Many people struggle with the attitude toward paying property taxes, especially if they do not use the public school system. Many individuals choose to send their children to private schools or to homeschool them. Should these citizens be required to pay property taxes? Also, what about the citizens who do not have children? Should they be required to pay the tax? The taxes being referred to are the property taxes that public school education greatly depends on. It has been a debate since public schools were created of whether or not citizens who choose not to enroll their children in a public school should be paying property taxes that support it. While a tax is a fee charged by a government on a product, income, or activity, a property tax is a tax assessed on real estate by the local government. Property tax is usually based on the value of the property (including the land) that someone owns. Owning property requires one to pay property taxes. The majority of those property taxes go toward public schooling and education. Although not all schools are equal, America spends over $500 billion a year on public elementary and secondary education. The Federal Education Budget Project explains the three types of funding for public education. All three levels of government – federal, state, and local – contribute to education funding. States typically provide a little less than half of all elementary and secondary education funding. Local governments generally contribute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Private Schools Vs Public Schools When it comes to a child's education, parents want the best the school has to offer their children. Parents want a prosperous future for their child which is not only health, but a well–educated one. Education is of the utmost importance especially because it will impact the child the most in the long run. Private schools offer ample education opportunities. There are some factors to consider when choose a private school education over a public one. Many times, the private schools are religious are having certain beliefs embedded in the curriculum that parents may not practice at home. To ensure that a child will be successful academically, it is best to enroll in private school. Granted, the path is easier than the other. Public schools allow all children to become enroll; parents do not have to worry about monthly dues. There are ways to ensure our youth to obtain a quality education that could lead to higher education opportunities within the private school system. Private schools have the reputation of being a school for the wealthy socioeconomic class. While private schools offer ample education opportunities yet of the services are of those of religious beliefs; however, not everyone follows the religion thus limiting student from becoming enrolled in a private school. • 27. School Schools Vs. Public Schools Parents worry about where they are going to send their kids to school. There is a big debate among parents in choosing where to send their children to school. People want to give their child the best education. The two major style of schooling is public and private schools. Public schools are schools that are set up and run by the government. Private schools are schools that are privately owned and are not controlled by the government. Both schools have positive and negative aspects. There are many factors to look at when choosing the best school. When choosing a school one must look at admission policy, learning styles, school environment, special needs, and college admissions. Each school systems have different admission policies. Public schools must admit all students assigned to them by the district. "Because not all public schools have resources for helping students with special needs, enrolling a child with a learning disability or other disorder may entail a more complex process"(Greatschools). For the most part, the school district will help admit the student to a school that will best suit him. Students must apply or join a raffle if they want to go to the public school of their specific choice. Private schools are more selective. There is an application process for private schools. Students must go through interviews, tests, and even write an admission essay. Since private schools need their own funding, students need to pay tuition to enter. There are also other ... • 29. Public Education : Private School Vs. Public School Being a seventeen–year–old boy from savannah, I have been raised within the walls of government, and tax funded schools, all my life. And it is at this point that I notice that it has not had any impact on my success thus far. I have attended Marshpoint Elementary, Coastal Middle School, And Islands High School. These schools are not only all public, but also within a one–mile radius of my house. My parents believed in the public–school system to help extend my growth into the college scene. And I have done exactly that. I came from a middle–class house whose income was well into the triple digits, and both my Mother and Father were both very religious. So, it seems that the arrow would have pointed in the private school direction at one point, right? Well it never did. My parents, as well as myself, never believed that private school would ever benefit me more than public school would. And I still stand by this today. Raising a kid cannot possibly be an easy task. With the responsibility of raising a child, there comes a point in every parent/guardian's life that they much choose between the two forms of schooling offered, public or private. This can be a challenging task for parents, or on the contrary a very simple task. All parents have their own thought process on why one is better than the other but by far public school has the most to offer over private school. While choosing between the two, parents may be faced with economical, physical, religious barriers that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Public Schools And Private Schools Schools have been around since the 18th century; starting with private schools and then public schools came around in the 19th century (Kaplan and Williams, "American Education"). From there how to get an education has drastically changed. There are several types of schools that you can put your child in; homeschool, virtual schools, advanced placement schools, Charter schools, private school and public school. The top options are public schools and private schools. There are different considerations you have to take in to choose the best school for your child; cost, average class size, development of social skills, bullying rates and graduation rates. We will hit on each of these topics further, as well as discuss the other schooling options to help you decide the best school for your child. So, between public and private schools and the other non–traditional options; which is the best option for your child? One of the top considerations parents take into account when looking at what type of school to put their child in is cost. The consideration of cost can be the deciding factor when it comes to putting your child in public school over private school. In the United States the average annual cost for sending your child to a private school is $8,411 for elementary and $12,900 for high school. The cost then varies even more by state. Many people discuss wither private schools or public schools are subsequently better investment to how students adapt and learn over the years. By looking back at local articles and information, I can find the information needed to examine how local private schools and public schools differ but, in addition, have similarities. Private schools have a reputation of having higher standards in certain aspects of education, but for some, that's not the case. In an article by the Washington Post, it states "We found that once we account for the fact that private schools serve families with more advantages associated with academic success–things like money and highly–educated parents–we find that public elementary schools are, on average, simply more effective at teaching mathematics" (Strauss). This, for instance, may be because private schools are more expensive than public schools. You have to pay anywhere from $5,000 dollars to approximately $30,000 each year where for a public institution the costs are free. The cost is so expensive in the private institutions that, after student's finish school and receive their diplomas, many families will struggle financially to send their children to higher education due to all the money they were spending in previous years. • 35. Public Vs. Public Schools Larry Boots Public vs Non–Public School Labor Markets Private versus public education, good versus bad, rich versus poor. A debate that has greatly impacted our society for centuries. Guided by inaccurate perceptions of each side, society has created a misunderstanding of the two types of education and what they represent, resulting in a competitive teacher labor market for public and private schools K–12. With the question, is there a difference between teaching in a public or private school? If so, which one has the advantage in the labor market? Growing up in a town that offered two high schools, one private and the other public, I was given the opportunity to gain knowledge on how people perceived the two schools, and what impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every parent wants their child to receive the best education possible, in preparation for the future. This leads to the question, what factors determine a school more desirable for receiving an education? If every student is presented with the same material, then what is difference between attending a public high school versus a private high school? Both of these questions can be answered with one simple word, teachers. Like any other occupation, the employer is looking to find the best candidate suitable for a certain position. Schools are looking to find the best teachers to employ in hopes of increasing student achievement, resulting in a good overall reputation of the school. Thus creating a competitive labor market for teachers. History: Schooling in America originated in the 18th century, with the creation of privatized schooling. Selective students were given the opportunity to study various subjects. Most of the students who were given an opportunity to attend school at that time were white and came from wealthy families, and unlike today, most of the teachers were male. The formation of public schools didn't happen until the 1840's, which was created by the government in effort to provide education to those who could not afford it at the time. The most qualified teachers were often found teaching in the private schools, leaving the less qualified teachers in the public schools. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The school uniform policy requires for the student just have 4 blue polo shirts and brown, blue, or black khakis for the males and khakis or a plaid skirt for the females. When school uniforms topics are brought up in the United States most people are not in favor. If only they took a closer consideration what school uniforms bring to the table that mind set would be transformed. We as a country should adopt an open mind because we can take a few notes from other countries whom have already adopted school uniforms into their public education regimen. This is one reason public schools in the United States should make school uniforms mandatory in public schools. When school uniforms come to mind they are often associated with private schools and charter schools. Private school or charter schools were not the ones to start implementing school uniforms into their school requirements. In fact, the uniforms were first recognized in England around 1222. The students wore robe like uniforms called the "Clappa Clausa." At This time there were no private schools but instead the impoverished "Charity Kids" were associated with the school uniforms. Over time they started becoming associated with the higher–class citizens of England. • 39. Christian Schools Vs Public Schools A Christian school is a school ran on Christian principles or by a Christian organization. In fact, according to religious, educational, and political cultures, the nature of Christian schools varies from country to country. Because a strict separation of church and state is present in some countries, all religious schools are private. In other countries, there is an established church whose teachings from an integral part of the state–operated educational system is current. Primarily, Christian education is for God, whereas public education is primarily for the state. Because public schools' purpose does not benefit God, they must leave the Word of God from their curriculum. Humanism is the content of public schools for this reason. To be a Christian school, a Christian school must have the Word of God as the content of their curriculum. While the Christian school properly understands that God has placed the control in the hands of the parents, the control of education as far as the public systems concerned is in the hands of the state. Private Schools And Public Schools Brooke Ward Mr. Falor Gov/Econ 9–28–17 The government is the reason we have order, safety, schools, roads, and many more things that we don't think too much about in our everyday lives. There are two branches of government the Democrats, and the Republicans. Our president, Donald Trump, is a republican. He believes in more investment in our military than our schooling. We already took a pay cut in our schooling system because of that, and the money that is going towards our schools are either going to public or private schools. But is it really necessary for the government to fund private schools when students already have to pay tuition? The government should be funding more towards public schooling. By funding private schools, what will happen to the public schools that rely on that money from the government to provide an education to the students in their community? What if the public schools close, and the only other option that is reasonably close is a private school? A lot of people cannot afford the tuition cost of private schools. The average cost of a private elementary school in Michigan is 9,000 dollars per year. When kids move up to high school the cost jumps up to 13,500 dollars per year. • 49. Pros And Cons Of Homeschooling And The Public And Public... Homeschooling Every education system put in place by the government will offer an excellent opportunity for young children to learn new skill and information as well as discovering their interest and unique qualities. There is no doubt that children are talented. Therefore, we need to support them as they grow up (Ray, 2015). There is no significant difference between homeschooling and the public schools, charter schools, private schools and all other models as each has pros and cons. Homeschooling is a progressive system around the country and the world in general, where parents conclude to educate their kids at home instead of taking them to a public and private school. Most parents chose to homeschool their young kids for various reasons including being dissatisfied with the current education system, religious beliefs, and different educational philosophies. However, whether or not the child is taken to a public, private school or homeschooled the most important thing is the achievement at the end of the day. To be honest, sometimes there is zero fun in homeschooling. In most cases, children who are homeschooled suffer from what is called homeschooled friend syndrome. This is where the kid feels that he is less of a kind and real friend to other children who attend private and public schools because they don't see each other during the day. Pillow Professor SooHoo–Hui February 15, 2015 California Baptist University Abstract In today's society, receiving a good education has become of the utter most importance. The real choice that is being faced now is what type of schooling program kids should be sent to. Should it be private school, with smaller class sizes or public school, where the massive attendance count tends to make kids learning last on the lists of priorities? The issue of where to send one's child for schooling has recently become a growing problem in not only America, but around the globe. Why should parents send their children to a school they must pay extra for, when there are schools funded by the government and their taxes? Part of the answer to this question can be found inside of the question: public schools are state funded. This means that schools will be littered with thousands of other students, and not allow for enough focus on actually teaching the kids (West & Woessmann 2008). The reasoning behind this ties into the issue of over population in schools that are unable to accommodate the growing number of college–bound individuals. The high influx of students causes the student to teacher ratio to skyrocket through the roof (Chen 2011). It is shown that "proper student to teacher ratio count is about 12:1," however, in most public schools Chen (2011) states that the more common ratio averages to about 45:1. A rising query of educators is what true problem is there with having a higher ratio. Answering this questions requires a few things to be taken into consideration. In a classroom sized at forty–five students, at least two will have an attention disorder, and three more will have a more prominent learning disability, such as "dyslexia" (Chen 2011). • 61. Charter School Vs. Public Schools Students Success Why choose to go to Charter School rather than public school? Charter schools are public school of choice, meaning families choose for their children. Federal legislation provides grants to help charters to manage start–up costs. They create better educational opportunities for the students therefore they have higher expectations in teaching. Charter Schools and zoned (public) schools are tuition free but unfortunately not everyone can get in to Charter school, since it works by lottery. Everyone has the opportunity to apply and has a choice to attend Charlet School if the students are lucky enough to get in. Charter schools are more effective for three reasons: they have higher graduation rates, teachers are more prepared and devoted to their students, and teachers take a greater responsibility for their students as they compete against Zoned Schools. How important is it for a student to graduate? Isn't it a waste of time going to school for twelve years and wasting all the government money and still not receive a diploma? That is why students need to work harder to earn it and Charter schools are the ones that offer students to become more educated. • 67. Public School Funding For Public Schools Most people believe that students do better in well–funded schools and that public education should provide a level playing field for children. Nearly half of the funding for public schools in the United States, however, is provided through local taxes, generating large differences in funding between wealthy and impoverished communities (National Center for Education Statistics, 2000a). Efforts to reduce these disparities have provoked controversy and resistance. Public school funding the United States comes from federal, state, and local sources, but because nearly half of those funds come from local property taxes, the system generates large funding differences between wealthy and impoverished communities. Such differences exist among states, among school districts within each state, and even among schools within specific districts. In 1998, for example, the state with the highest average level of public school funding was New Jersey, with an annual funding rate of $8,801 per student, whereas the state with the lowest average level was Utah, with a yearly rate of $3,804 per student. This means that the typical student attending a public school in New Jersey was provided more than twice the fiscal resources allocated to his or her counterpart in Utah. • 75. Public Education : Private School Vs. Public Schools Education is not only important, it is a powerful weapon that we can use to change to change our world. Parents try to provide us with the best education and influences in our lives until they no longer can control it. The environment a child grows up in is critical to a child's development. There are two different types of schools that parents generally choose from. Public schools are free to attend, funded and controlled by the government and must follow state curriculum and assessment models. Private schools are independently funded, can use any curriculum and assessment models they want and requires a tuition to enroll. The private versus public school debate has been an ongoing debate throughout the nation. Many parents have a difficult time choosing what school to enroll their children in. Religion, the desire for same–sex education, extracurricular activities and special education programs are factors that are considered when choosing schools.
