 To discuss about the paradigm shift of
teacher’s roles from information providers to
facilitators.
 To bring out possible changes to be included
to improve the skills and competence of
emerging teachers

Teaching and Learning culture in India – towards a paradigm shift

  • 3. The two major issues:  Unemployment in teacher education  Un-employability is the state of not being fit for employment even if the candidate is qualified for a teacher. BUT "It is not unemployment which is a major problem; it is the question of 'un- employability' which is a bigger crisis
  • 4. OBJECTIVES  To examine the current status of teaching- learning culture in India  To discuss about the paradigm shift of teacher’s roles from information providers to facilitators.  To bring out possible changes to be included to improve the skills and competence of emerging teachers  To discuss about the paradigm shift of teacher’s roles from information providers to facilitators.

  • 6.  Traditional way of teaching --- Memorization and theoretical knowledge  Need to reform and shift our educational system towards an education which connects the knowledge with real life situations  Teachers to Facilitators  Need of ICT for Teachers
  • 7. Constructivist way of teaching-learning process.  students construct their own understanding  by reflecting on their personal experiences,  by relating the new knowledge with what they already know.
  • 8. Role of the teachers is  to create experiences  in which the students will participate  that will lead to appropriate processing and knowledge acquisition.  Teacher asks guiding questions  help students stay on-topic and help them reflect.
  • 9. Innovative Methods of Teaching: Multimedia learning process,  Z to A approach, Role playing and Scenario Analysis based teaching
  • 10. Teachers 2.0: Updated and Upgraded Modern teaching skills and qualities Adaptability. Desire to learn Teamwork A forward thinking attitude.
  • 11. Conclusion The effective teachers should connect with students with effective use of Technologies role of a facilitator  support everyone to do their best thinking teachers should encourage full participation, promotes mutual responsibility. Effective teachers focus not on compliance, but on connections and relationship
