The document discusses the student's use of various software and technologies during the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of creating their film project. They discuss learning to use Premiere Pro for editing, using Google Chrome for research, and school email for communicating with teachers. Other programs and websites mentioned include Photoshop, Prezi, YouTube, SoundCloud, Blogger, and SlideShare. Learning New Technologies for Film Production
1.
2. Through my making of my film, I have
used
various different software's and
websites in
out to make my film the best it can be.
Some of these technologies I had
never
used before therefore I had to learn
from
scratch although a few I had used
before.
All these technologies were used
through
post and pre-production and I think I
have
definitely developed my knowledge
and
understanding of these technologies.
3. Having never studied media before this year, I was
completely new to Premiere Pro. At first it was
very difficult to use as there is so much you can
do on it. However after learning the basics, such
as how to crop a clip and how to move clips . I got
used to it. It then went onto helping me edit my
film as I could colour grade clips and add in titles
and credits.
Google Chrome was in ideal search engine to use for
my research for pre-production and post
production as its very quick and reliable. I use it
every day and prefer it to internet explorer
therefore it was the best thing to use.
Using the school emails were a great way to keep in
contact with my teachers. This allowed me to get
feedback for my work, arrange times if I need to
speak to them and if I had any problems, it was the
easiest way of speaking to them.
4. When creating doing research for my film, I was aware I needed
to think about my target audience of my media product and
see what sort of things they were into and what they would
look like. Therefore I created two avatars on ‘Scott Pilgrim
Create an Avatar’ to give myself a visual idea of what my
audience would look like. It was very useful as it help me
decide other aspects of my film such as what music to use
etc.
I used Prezi to help me develop my ideas on how I wanted
to make my product. I used it to research my genre –
thriller. Also it was helpful to discover more about my
target audience. It gives you the freedom to brainstorm
ideas, with making it look creative and appealing. I had
never used Prezi before however it’s a website I would
definitely use again.
As a photography student I had used Photoshop before. I
found it very useful when I was editing my photos for
my actors analysis. I find Photoshop a good software
to use and it was great for my pre-production as you
can always create quality work. Also when you get the
hang of it, it can be really quick and simple to you.
5. I used YouTube through the 2 stages of, pre and
post. It was essential when I was researching
my film openings as it was an easy way to
access the first 10 minutes of films. It was
also the website we used to upload my film
so then I could put it on my blog. I have
used YouTube a lot therefore it was quick
and easy to use and reliable to find what I
wanted.
Before making my media product, I had never
used sound cloud however it was great to
find the music I had in mind for my film. I
tried YouTube converter however the quality
of the music was never very good however
sound cloud was. It is quite simple to use
and I would definitely use it again in the
future.
6. Blogger was a was the most important website
in the 3 stages of production. It enabled me
to display all my work in an organised way. I
had never used blogger before this year so at
the start I wasn’t very confident with it,
however now I am better and can do a lot
more with it.
I had never used Slideshare before I started
media, however it’s a great website and
helped me get all my work onto my blog.
When I made PowerPoints and word
documents, Slideshare made putting my
work onto my blog easy.
7. STRENGTHS
I would say my strengths would be premiere pro and Photoshop. I have
learnt so much on premiere pro whilst making my film opening as I
hadn't used it before. I know the basics now but also how to change the
brightness of clips, make sound quieter and louder in specific places
and more. Also, I have improved my Photoshop skills. I knew the basics
before creating my film making however I have gained more advanced
skills.
WEAKNESSES
At the beginning of editing my film opening I found using premiere pro
difficult. I had edited a shot film for my preliminary task but when you
haven't used it before, it can be quite daunting as there is so much you
can do on it. It can be very time consuming as I didn’t know what was
what but after using it for a while, it became easier to use.
