2. ARTISTIC
We need to make it clear who is part of each ‘team’, (i.e. Greaseball and his
entourage). This will be done with both performance and technical.
Song 14 which is Pearls song could be quite boring as its just her singing therefore
we have to have other things going on in the background without drawing away
the attention from her.
With all the races, as we are having some parts filmed, it’s going to be difficult to
link in the pre-recorded footage and the live action on stage.
The whole story needs to look as if it’s the imagination of the child
Make it clear about what happened at the end of race 3 as it’s quite unclear
throughout the script.
Make it clear about the story line because it’s a sung through show therefore
sometimes it can be difficult to follow.
3. TECHNICAL
In song 29 (Starlight Sequence) which is the highlight of the show and the most important part,
we are going to have to make sure it technically matches the quality of the performance on
stage.
At the end, after race four we are going to have a very quick costume change between song
30 and 31 for Rusty and Greaseball.
How do we make them all look like trains, as the costume will be very advanced but all needs
to link together.
To make sure that everyone is safe whilst on roller skates or wheels of some form but using
health and safety equipment that won’t take away the magic and draw away from the story –
thinking about costume.
Making it clear that each character has a specific personality about them. For example you
won’t use big flashing lights for Rusty because that doesn’t represent his character; you are
more likely to associate that with Greaseball.
