Unity in Diversity
Unity and Diversity: Finding the Proper Balance Unity and diversity are both qualities to be desired
within society. Both, when balanced with one another, provide for the strongest form of society in
which all are unified under some ideas, but differences are tolerated and accepted. One of the
strongest factors of determining the present status of unity and diversity is the current state of affairs
within a community. The current state of affairs can be altered by a number of issues, some planned
and recurring, such as elections years, and some unexpected altogether, such as natural disasters.
Within the global community, the current state of a variety of affairs greatly affects the balance of

Society:
According to Eugene M. Makar, the traditional Indian culture is defined by relatively strict social
hierarchy. He also mentions that from an early age, children are reminded of their roles and places in
society. This is reinforced by the fact that many believe gods and spirits have integral and functional
role in determining their life. Several differences such as religion divide culture. However, far more
powerful division is the traditional Hindu bifurcation into non–polluting and polluting occupations.
Strict social taboos have governed these groups for thousands of years. In recent years, particularly
in cities, some of these lines have blurred and sometimes even disappeared. Nuclear family is
becoming central to Indian culture.
Important family relations extend to as far as gotra, the mainly patrilinear lineage or clan assigned to
a Hindu at birth. In rural areas it is common that three or four generations of the family live under the
same roof. Patriarch often resolves family issues.
Among developing countries, India has low levels of occupational and geographic mobility. People
choose same occupations as their parents and rarely move geographically in the society.
Family:
India for ages has had a prevailing tradition of the joint family system. It's a system under which
even extended members of a family like one's parents, children, the children's spouses and their
offspring, etc. live together. The

Islam 's Influence On Islam
When it comes to Islam and the religion as a whole, many see all of the "negatives" that come out of
it. Little do they know that it was the Muslims who came up with one of the first hospitals, surgical
innovations, philosophy, astronomy, geography and many more. One particular thing that they were
most famous for was their architecture. From their vibrant colored tiles in Morocco, to the grand
mosque in Cordoba for its columns, to the hypostyles in ancient Persia, to the Taj Mahal of Agra in
India, and finally to all of their Great Mosques around Europe, Africa and Asia, Islam has a history
behind every single monument. Before we start with the architectural designs, we need to start from
the beginning. Islam spread worldwide after the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. died in 632 C.E. The
Caliph that took over after the Messenger Muhammad p.b.u.h,. was Abu Bakr, who was a great
companion and father–in–law to the Prophet. He spread the knowledge of Islam into other countries
by using one of many concepts, and that was jihad. Jihad was used by Muslims because they were
obliged to spread the concept and the truth of Islam to knowledge seekers and non believers
likewise. The concept of jihad meant that Muslims can defend themselves if ever attacked by non
believers; this is what the interpretation of the Qur'an permitted to those who followed the holy book
and the true Islamic way, thus this didn't allow them to wage aggressive warfare against non–
Muslims in any way, shape or

The Hospitality And Tourism Industry
The hospitality and tourism industry is the largest and fastest–growing industry in the world. The
hotel business provides career opportunities to associates who help make reservations, greet, assist,
and serve guests. Approximately 70% of the American and Canadian economies are engaged in
service industries. However, September 11 showed the fragility of this industry, that cost the
industry much damage. The Hotel Industry income is affected by real life events because negative
outcomes occur, such as less guests stay at the hotel, problems with employees, and hotel income
drops dramatically.
On the September 11, 2001, the hotel industry had a dramatic change. Every thing went down from
that day. On this day, Islamist extremists hijacked four planes that were flying above the US. Two of
them were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. The buildings went
down, collapsing. Many people were killed, including emergency workers and firefighters who went
into the building to help people. Another was crashed into the Pentagon, the top military building in
the capital city, Washington DC. The fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a
field.
Another event, that affected the hospitality Industry, the terrorist attack in Mumbai, India. There
were ten Pakistani men associated with the terror group Lashkar–e–Tayyiba targeted buildings in
Mumbai, killing 164 people. Nine of the gunmen were killed during the attacks, one survived.

Executive Summary
It is the past which shapes what we become in the present. Most of what we do and follow today has
been decided in the past which is why we have to understand who we were to become who we have
to be. India is one of the few civilizations which has been in existence for more than 5000 years.
India is a homogenous culture and it has such strong roots that we have been able to absorb any
outside intervention with ease. Be it the Muslim Kings or the Mughals, we have integrated everyone

The Mughal Empire Was Created By A Man Known Babur
One of the most famous empires in India, known as the Mughal Empire was created by a man
known Babur (who was a decent of Genghis Khan). He didn't have many successes in remaining
and conquering central Asia like his ancestors so therefore he decided to try and conquer South Asia.
Around 1527 he defeated two of the most powerful forces in India but was not able to turn the
territory he gained into an empire. After his death he left that responsibility to his son Humayun,
who even through lacked the military genius, was able to gain and have a foot hold in Agra and
Delhi (mainly through the help of Persian Military). But it was his son Akbar who is credited for
really laying the foundation for the Empire to flourish. During his reign from 1556–1605, he
managed to gain territory over the northern and central India. He also secured the northwestern
frontier (gateway to India for so many previous invasions). His most important territorial gain was
the area of Gujarat, in the west, which provided the Mughal empire with enormous wealth from its
commercial centers, as well as access to the Arabian Sea and hence opportunity for lucrative trade
with both the Europeans and the Ottoman empire. He was also into in spiritual and religious issues,
and in 1582 he created a new code of religious behavior. And had weekly talks Muslims and non–
Muslim theologians including Hindus, Jains, Christians, Jews, and Zoroastrians. Akbar was also into

The Art Of The Comeback
"A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not."
Introduction:
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York, the fourth of five children of
Frederick C. and Mary Macleod Trump. Frederick Trump was a builder and real estate developer
who came to specialize in constructing and operating middle income apartments in the Queens,
Staten Island, and Brooklyn. Donald Trump was an energetic, assertive child, and his parents sent
him to the New York Military Academy at age 13, hoping the discipline of the school would channel
his energy in a positive manner. Trump did well at the academy, both socially and academically,
rising to be a star athlete and student leader by the time he graduated in 1964. He entered Fordham

Although he handed over most of his holdings to the creditor banks, he remarkably managed to
bounce back by the end of the 1990s. He shared his story in the book, The Art of the Comeback, and
has done more work in the publishing world as he has co–authored several books about none other
than himself, including Trump: The Art of the Deal, and Trump: The Art of the Comeback as well as
Trump: The Art of Survival, among others. His most recent book, How To Get Rich: Big Deals from
the Star of The Apprentice also made the bestseller lists.
Donald Trump has also been caught in the 2008 financial crisis as sales for his Trump International
Hotel and Tower in Chicago have been lagging and he failed to pay a $40m loan to Deutsche Bank
in December. Arguing that the crisis is an Act of God, he evoked a clause in the contract to not pay
the loan and initiated a countersuit asserting his image has been damaged. Deutsche Bank has in
turn noted in court that 'Trump is no stranger to overdue debt' and that he has twice previously filed
for bankruptcy with respect to his casino operations. "I don't think it's a failure, it's a success,"
Donald Trump said in the interview. "In this case, it was just something that worked better than
other alternatives. It's really just a technical thing, but it came together."

Modern Art : A History And History Of Indian Art
Indian art has been around for thousands of years, the art can be traced back to pre–historic
settlements in 3000 B.C.E. There have been many different influences on the art from this area.
Some of the art has cultural influences, as well as religious influences. There has been a lot of
ancient art that has been preserved through time due to plenty of it was made with steel and stone,
and as India encompasses such a large area, some of the art has come from area's such as Pakistan,

paintings, and textiles. I will look at traditional Indian art, dating back to the prehistoric times all the
way up to the period after the British colonial rulers came into India, and how it has changed over
the years.
ROCK ART
The rock art of India is concentrated in the Bhimbekta region of India, it is right in the middle of
India and this art was discovered in 1957 by Dr. Vishnu Shridhar Wakankar (Dubey–Pathak 5). Most
of the art discovered in the caves were markings of what was going on at the time, there were
images of hunting scenes, religious folk symbols, animals, and humans (Dubey–Pathak 8). Rock

The Mumbai Attacks on November 26th, 2008, an event that would scar Indians for many years to

different wars following their independence from Britain. These previous conflicts between the two
nations eventually led to the attacks on Mumbai, India's commercial gem, in 2008. The attack
consisted of multiple synchronized bombings and shootings across Mumbai, resulting in 166 deaths,
including six Americans, and over 308 wounded. India claims that the attackers were members of a

India had finally gained independence after 350 years of British presence. The plan for partition
began when Britain ultimately handed over self–governance to India. After receiving its
independence, India was further separated due to religious tensions between Muslims and Hindus
living together. Because of these conflicts, Pakistan was formed the following day on August 15,
1947. Under the Mountbatten Plan, India was formed out of mostly Hindu regions and Pakistan was
created out of the primarily Muslim regions. Pakistan was formed into two dominions: East Pakistan
and West Pakistan. At the beginning of their independence, both countries dealt with both ruined
lands and economies. The partition ended up leaving both Pakistan and India distraught. Riots
erupted, looting broke out, women were raped, and over 15 million refugees were forced into
unfamiliar regions. These refugees crossed borders into regions of the two new countries that were
completely foreign to them. Women were raped and abused by both Muslims and Hindus, and each
day trains filled with beaten women and children would arrive between the borders of Pakistan and
India.
The first war between India and Pakistan, which started in October 1947, was one of the first major
events that led to the modern–day hatred between these two nations. British policy stated that the

but the real history is way more interesting than any fiction. One of the Seven Wonders of the

Over 7 million people visit it every year, and most people walk away not knowing the history or the

Commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his cherished
wife, the Taj Mahal stands on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. The Taj Mahal
was built over more than 20 years and is one of the most outstanding examples of Mughal
architecture. Which combined Indian, Persian and Islamic influences. An estimated 20,000 laborers
were recruited from all over Asia to contribute to the massive project and also used over 1,000
elephants to transport heavy materials and supplies for construction. There is no proof so support
this theory but people believe that the people that built the taj mahal were all later put to death so
they could never "repeat such a beautiful feat". At its center is the Taj Mahal itself, built of

Dream House Architectural Model
Foam Custom Built Model
Criteria A : Investigating
Generally, I revere everything in life, it illustrates a clear explanation of whom I want to become in
the future. The grade 10 students were introduced to the MYP personal project and with this in
mind, I had many vital ideas executed, but confused to choose a product that contributes to my
interests. I love learning and discovering new things. After many cups of coffee, I obtained an idea
or goal to create a three–dimensional foam architectural model of my dream house. My family built
our own house in India last year and for viewing the stages of building a house became one of my
interest. I always wondered how the workers/builders managed to get the house in perfect shape as
the engineer contemplated. For instance, how can a bunch of line sketches or drawings on a piece of
paper transform into a three–dimensional figure on land; when both the engineer and construction
worker dont have any relationship in common. I have many questions that are still unanswered.
Based on this personal, I will build a model of my dream house as a (final) product. This personal
project is important because it will enhance my organizational skills, creativity and time
management. Throughout this project, I will create blueprints for both main/first floors and
interior/exterior elevation. I want to succeed in this project

perfect as a jewel. Every parts of himself are meticulously crafted and so flawless that there could be
nothing wrong of his appearance and personality. He had spent a huge amount of wealth on his
creations as to present his ideology of perfection. Unlike his grandfather's building (the building of
Akbar) which shows diversity, Shah Jahan's constructions demonstrate a unique new order. In most
of his creations, he didn't just simply mix the Hindu and Islamic traditions together but balanced
them in a different orientation which creates his own significant style. The Taj Mahal can see as the
combination of all of the embellishments that he wanted to use, and it is definitely one of his
greatest accomplishment in his life by creating a unity and harmonic feeling to the design. Most

Bharatanatyam, one of eight designated classical dance forms of India.
The culture of India refers to the religions, beliefs, customs, traditions, languages, ceremonies, arts,
values and the way of life in India and its people. India's languages, religions, dance, music,
architecture, food, and customs differ from place to place within the country. Its culture often
labeled as an amalgamation of these diverse sub–cultures is spread all over the Indian subcontinent

There is significant historical discourse in India on the notion, relevance, and the existence and non–

[edit] Perceptions of Indian culture
Main article: Stereotypes of South Asians
India's diversity has inspired many writers to pen their perceptions of the country's culture. These
writings paint a complex and often conflicting picture of the culture of India.
According to industry consultant Eugene M. Makar, for example, traditional Indian culture is
defined by a relatively strict social hierarchy. He also mentions that from an early age, children are
reminded of their roles and places in society.[16] This is reinforced, Makar notes, by the way many

The Bombing Of The United States
Terrorist attacks happen all over the world, creating a sense of hysteria and panic to the people
surrounding the tragic events. The third most horrific attack in history, in my opinion, happened on
23 October 1989 in Beirut. A Marine barracks was bombed in Beirut, Lebanon killing 220 Marines
and 21 other service personnel. This attack was considered to be the deadliest attack to the U.S.
Marines since the battle of Iwo Jima in 1945 (CNN, 2015). The bombing was traced back to the
Hezbollah militant group along with Iranian and Syrian involvement. Colonel Timothy Geraghty,
the commander of the barracks, after much criticism for having lackadaisical security said that it
was hard to defend the compound due to local airport traffic. Countermeasure ideas for the Reagan
administration were divided. Some said the president should deepen involvement in the Middle East
while others feared doing that would lead to a trajectory similar to that of Vietnam. Ultimately,
Reagan followed the advice of Secretary Weinberger that if we weren't in it to win it, then we
shouldn't go to war (FoxNews, 2013). Reagan withdrew the troops in Lebanon and chose to not get
involved in the Middle East. It has been over thirty years since the barrack bombing, and this attack
is still considered one of the top terror attacks of all time. In fact, the Tamil Tigers performed a
copycat attack a few years after this attack. When other terrorists mimic a particular attack, it is an
indication of an

The Mughal dynasty was established by a man named Babur who ruled over the state of Hindustan
(India). As a youth, Babur, a prince of the house of Timur, was unable to maintain his sovereignty
over the small Central Asian state bequeathed to him by his father (Source?). Instead, he turned his
attention to the southeast, where he occupied Kabul in 1504, and almost immediately embarked on
his conquest of India (Source?). By 1527, Babur had defeated both the forces of the Lodi sultan and
those of the Hindu confederacy (Source?). However, at the time of his death, in 1530, he had not yet
transformed his territorial acquisitions into an empire (Source?). This task was left to his son
Humayun, who lacked the military genius of his father and soon forfeited the Mughal foothold in
India (Source?). Only through Persian military intervention did he manage to regain the capital
cities of Agra and Delhi in 1555; however, Humayun 's son Akbar was credited with the real
foundation of the Mughal Empire (Source?).
During his reign from 1556 to 1605, Akbar established dominion over northern and central India, as
far east as Bengal. He secured the northwestern frontier, which served as a gateway to India for so
many previous invasions. Akbar 's most important territorial gain was the sultanate of Gujarat, in the
west, which provided the Mughal empire with enormous wealth from its commercial centers, and
access to the Arabian Sea. This presented an opportunity for lucrative trade with both

deck and stainless–steel balustrades. (The Annals of London 392) Almost 15 million tourists visit
London each year from overseas. (Mitchell 1) The London Eye is the largest, and arguably the most
famous, observation wheel in the world. (Akwagyiram 1) Many people believe that the London Eye
is Ferris Wheel, but it in fact is and observation wheel. The London Eye gets more visitors per year
than the Taj Mahal. The London Eye is at 135 metres, and is 30 meters higher than the wheel at
Yokohama Bay in Japan, which had been the tallest. The landmark can around 15,000 visitors a day.
(Akwagyiram 1) The London Eye is lit up different colors for special occasions. Over the recent
terrorist attacks that happened in London the London Eye was lit up the colors of the French flag. A
ride on the London Eye takes about 30 minutes. The Tower of London is another historically
important landmark in London. The Tower of London is the oldest palace, fortress, and prison in
Europe. History has it that King Edward of England backed down on his promise to give throne to
William and ended up giving the throne to Harold Godwinson. (McGillick 1) The Tower of London

Essay on Islam: A Religion and Culture
Islam: A Religion and Culture
Islam is one of the oldest religions in history dating back to about 600 AD. It began when a man
named Muhammad heard a voice from the heavens instructing him to proclaim the word of god.
Currently there are over 800 million followers of the Muslim religion. The main text of the religion
is the Quran which is said to be the word of God, or Allah as called in Muslim. Within the Quran,
The five pillars of Islam are proclaimed along with many other concepts very unique to the Muslim
religion. Prayer is a very important aspect of Islam as well. Islam has a long history of invention,
heritage, and world imperialism that must be understood to completely identify with the concepts of

For many years while trying to convert those of neighboring clans, constant feuding over the Kaaba
and the city of Mecca ensued. Eventually Muhammad attacked Mecca to where the city surrendered.
Mecca was changed into the new homeland of Islam, and the former pagan Kaaba was transformed
into the monument in which all Muslims are to make a pilgrimage to. The Arabic world was
engulfed in Islam and spread like wildfire.
As Muhammad was the prophet of Islam, His words and those of Allah are represented in the Quran.
The Quran is a compilation of rules, poetry, beliefs, and meanings of Islam. There are some fifteen
basic concepts of the Islam and are explained within the Quran. There is not an exact list of these
concepts, but are the basic meanings expressed in the book. Righteousness is explained as taking
verses to heart rather than empty readings and routine. It also means expressing the beliefs of the
Quran in daily life and towards others. The concept of piety is the more intense following of
Muhammad. Muslims are taught to mold themselves in the form of Muhammad. The concept of
prophet–hood or appearing to mortal men with the word of Allah is a very important aspect of belief
in Islam. It proves a connection between heaven and earth through common men. The creation of
life by Allah is a strong
concept of the awesome power of god. There are rules that forbid self destruction as it would go
against what God has created. Islam proclaims there is only

Spread Of Islam : Worldwide Architecture Essay
Spread of Islam: Worldwide Architecture Spain, Persia, Africa, and India
Muamera Dzaferovic, Tyler Budach, Kyle Maser
HIST 1141–90 ANCIENT AND MEDIEVAL WORLD HISTORY OCTOBER 20, 2016
When it comes to Islam and the religion as a whole, many see all of the "negatives" that come out of
it. Little do they know that it was the Muslims who came up with one of the first hospitals, surgical
innovations, philosophy, astronomy, geography and many more. One particular thing that they were
most famous for was their architecture. From their vibrant colored tiles in Morocco, to the grand
mosque in Cordoba for its columns, to the hypostyles in ancient Persia, and finally to the Taj Mahal
of Agra in India, Before we start with the architectural designs, we need to start from the beginning.
Islam spread worldwide after the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. died in 632 C.E. The Caliph that
took over after the Messenger Muhammad p.b.u.h,. was Abu Bakr, who was a great companion and
father–in–law to the Prophet. He spread the knowledge of Islam into other countries by using one of
many concepts, and that was jihad. Jihad was used by Muslims because they were obliged to spread
the concept and the truth of Islam to knowledge seekers and nonbelievers likewise. The concept of
jihad meant that Muslims can defend themselves if ever attacked by nonbelievers, this is what the
interpretation of the Qur'an permitted to those

Power Of Religion : God Made Us, We Made Gods
Mannat Shukla Professor Sonia Gutiérrez English 100 July 11 2014 Power of Religion "GOD
MADE US, WE MADE GODS" It was the heat of the summer afternoon that radiated about the
Indian temple of Shiva, a Hindu deity. The sheer amount of people running about was amazing but
there was something that they all shared. Each one of them carried in their hands, a bag of rich milk
that was to be offered to the statue of the deity in hopes of praising him. Milk was used to bathe the
statue and the canals carried the residue of the aftermath down to the gutters. It is there along the
deep canals that one can find multiple anorexic bodies leaning down and scooping up the milk from
the gutters. They were hungry and poor. This was their only chance at a good meal. It was after
seeing such scenes that I chose to feed that poor little malnourished child and his father instead of
bathing Lord Shiva's statue, who were standing in that intolerable heat, looking at people passing by
in hopes for food. Surprised at my actions, the pair simply looked at me with the kindest sets of eyes
and the father of that child said: "May Allah bless you son." These words struck my consciousness
ajar and I realized that they were Muslims not Hindus. I touched that man's feet (A symbol of
respect to elders in Hinduism). That gesture stuck me in a dilemma, was religion really the promoter
of morality?

Architecture Style And Architecture Of The Taj Mahal
CHAPTER 1
1.0 INTRODUCTION A story makes an old building charming. In reality, a pleasing exterior view
does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the
heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the
building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence, the
story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a remarkable
building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique architectural design
which is the mixture of several architectural styles. This result is caused by the Charles Edwin
Spooner, the state engineer of Public Work Department, Selangor, who worked in Ceylon before
transferred to Selangor. He preferred to design a Mughal–style building on a Classic Renaissance
style ground plan which suggested by A.C. Norman. Moreover, British Victorian style is
incorporated into this building's design as the British colonized Malaya. This story explained its
unique architectural structure while gave the new generation a better understanding of the classic
architectural style and the history of Malaysia. Thus, theories, ideas, and ideologies which

The Mughals Who Ruled India From 1526-1858, Emerged As...
The Mughals who ruled India from 1526–1858, emerged as great patrons of
architecture. Mughal architectural is a great historical source as it reflects on
imperial ideology of the time. The Mughals drew upon various architectural traditions–
indigenous Indian traditions, Indo Islamic architecture form the Sultanate period,
Persian traditions, European traditions and introduced their own Timurid
traditions of Central Asia. Right from Babur to Aurangzeb, architecture was used to
assert power and seek legitimacy by the Mughals.
Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, coming from the lush lands of Ferghana
and being constantly on the move in India, mainly laid out gardens in Hindustan
instead of large buildings. Yearning for the gardens of his homeland, Babur
introduced a new Timurid garden– the charbagh into India, impacting subsequent
Mughal architecture profoundly. The Charbagh was a symmetrical terraced garden
divided into four equal parts by water channels and raised pathways, dotted with
fountains, pavilions and trees. Catherine Ascher says upon establishing his capital
at Agar he laid out a charbagh called Hast Behisht or Garden of Eight Paradises,
on the banks of the Yamuna. His memoirs record that this served as his main
residence and court. The garden from its name, its flowing water and fruit trees,
was meant to reflect eight levels of paradise on earth, in which Babur resided. He
also laid out a 'Garden of Victory' near Fathepur

My View Of My Dream House
Generally, I revere everything in life, it illustrates a clear explanation of whom I want to become in
the future. The grade 10 students were introduced to the myp personal project and with this in mind,
I had many vital ideas executed but confused to choose a product that contributes to my interests. I
love learning and discovering new things. After many cups of coffee, I obtained an idea or goal to
create a three–dimensional foam architectural model of my dream house. My family built our own

His creation inspired many others' in the architectural field and has become one of the seven
wonders of the world. My product should impress others and induce them in creating their own
dream house model. I have chosen to focus on the global context of orientation in space and time.
My areas of exploration will be on "Homes and Journey". My project specifically deals with the
design and construction of a house in this modern world. I intend to focus on the engineer and
construction workers collaboration towards the completion of a perfect house. In this case, I will be
both the engineer and construction worker as I am going to design my floor plan and transform it
into a three–dimensional figure. Based on my global context my question of inquiry is "Why
humans should know how to manipulate architectural designs and common construction procedure".
To start out with this personal project I have decided to conquer this quote for my success in this
model, "If you focus on design, you can call yourself a designer. If you focus on the implementation
of your design, you can call yourself an architect".(Cameron Sinclair, Architecture for Humanity)
Before I begin my construction work, I need to know basic steps of an architectural – model
building. So I Came up with some research questions that would help me throughout this project.

Unity and Diversity: Finding the Balance

  • 1. Unity in Diversity Unity and Diversity: Finding the Proper Balance Unity and diversity are both qualities to be desired within society. Both, when balanced with one another, provide for the strongest form of society in which all are unified under some ideas, but differences are tolerated and accepted. One of the strongest factors of determining the present status of unity and diversity is the current state of affairs within a community. The current state of affairs can be altered by a number of issues, some planned and recurring, such as elections years, and some unexpected altogether, such as natural disasters. Within the global community, the current state of a variety of affairs greatly affects the balance of unity and diversity amongst the global ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Society: According to Eugene M. Makar, the traditional Indian culture is defined by relatively strict social hierarchy. He also mentions that from an early age, children are reminded of their roles and places in society. This is reinforced by the fact that many believe gods and spirits have integral and functional role in determining their life. Several differences such as religion divide culture. However, far more powerful division is the traditional Hindu bifurcation into non–polluting and polluting occupations. Strict social taboos have governed these groups for thousands of years. In recent years, particularly in cities, some of these lines have blurred and sometimes even disappeared. Nuclear family is becoming central to Indian culture. Important family relations extend to as far as gotra, the mainly patrilinear lineage or clan assigned to a Hindu at birth. In rural areas it is common that three or four generations of the family live under the same roof. Patriarch often resolves family issues. Among developing countries, India has low levels of occupational and geographic mobility. People choose same occupations as their parents and rarely move geographically in the society. Family: India for ages has had a prevailing tradition of the joint family system. It's a system under which even extended members of a family like one's parents, children, the children's spouses and their offspring, etc. live together. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Islam 's Influence On Islam When it comes to Islam and the religion as a whole, many see all of the "negatives" that come out of it. Little do they know that it was the Muslims who came up with one of the first hospitals, surgical innovations, philosophy, astronomy, geography and many more. One particular thing that they were most famous for was their architecture. From their vibrant colored tiles in Morocco, to the grand mosque in Cordoba for its columns, to the hypostyles in ancient Persia, to the Taj Mahal of Agra in India, and finally to all of their Great Mosques around Europe, Africa and Asia, Islam has a history behind every single monument. Before we start with the architectural designs, we need to start from the beginning. Islam spread worldwide after the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. died in 632 C.E. The Caliph that took over after the Messenger Muhammad p.b.u.h,. was Abu Bakr, who was a great companion and father–in–law to the Prophet. He spread the knowledge of Islam into other countries by using one of many concepts, and that was jihad. Jihad was used by Muslims because they were obliged to spread the concept and the truth of Islam to knowledge seekers and non believers likewise. The concept of jihad meant that Muslims can defend themselves if ever attacked by non believers; this is what the interpretation of the Qur'an permitted to those who followed the holy book and the true Islamic way, thus this didn't allow them to wage aggressive warfare against non– Muslims in any way, shape or ... • 9. The Hospitality And Tourism Industry The hospitality and tourism industry is the largest and fastest–growing industry in the world. The hotel business provides career opportunities to associates who help make reservations, greet, assist, and serve guests. Approximately 70% of the American and Canadian economies are engaged in service industries. However, September 11 showed the fragility of this industry, that cost the industry much damage. The Hotel Industry income is affected by real life events because negative outcomes occur, such as less guests stay at the hotel, problems with employees, and hotel income drops dramatically. On the September 11, 2001, the hotel industry had a dramatic change. Every thing went down from that day. On this day, Islamist extremists hijacked four planes that were flying above the US. Two of them were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York. The buildings went down, collapsing. Many people were killed, including emergency workers and firefighters who went into the building to help people. Another was crashed into the Pentagon, the top military building in the capital city, Washington DC. The fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field. Another event, that affected the hospitality Industry, the terrorist attack in Mumbai, India. There were ten Pakistani men associated with the terror group Lashkar–e–Tayyiba targeted buildings in Mumbai, killing 164 people. Nine of the gunmen were killed during the attacks, one survived. ... He didn't have many successes in remaining and conquering central Asia like his ancestors so therefore he decided to try and conquer South Asia. Deutsche Bank has in turn noted in court that 'Trump is no stranger to overdue debt' and that he has twice previously filed for bankruptcy with respect to his casino operations. "I don't think it's a failure, it's a success," Donald Trump said in the interview. "In this case, it was just something that worked better than other alternatives. The plan for partition began when Britain ultimately handed over self–governance to India. After receiving its independence, India was further separated due to religious tensions between Muslims and Hindus living together. Because of these conflicts, Pakistan was formed the following day on August 15, 1947. Under the Mountbatten Plan, India was formed out of mostly Hindu regions and Pakistan was created out of the primarily Muslim regions. These refugees crossed borders into regions of the two new countries that were completely foreign to them. Women were raped and abused by both Muslims and Hindus, and each day trains filled with beaten women and children would arrive between the borders of Pakistan and India. There are actually 28 types of precious jewels set into the marble of the Taj Mahal and it is India's most popular tourist attraction and is the pride of India's nation, so don't wait too long to see it for yourself. Commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his cherished wife, the Taj Mahal stands on the southern bank of the Yamuna River in Agra, India. The Taj Mahal was built over more than 20 years and is one of the most outstanding examples of Mughal architecture. Which combined Indian, Persian and Islamic influences. An estimated 20,000 laborers were recruited from all over Asia to contribute to the massive project and also used over 1,000 elephants to transport heavy materials and supplies for construction. There is no proof so support this theory but people believe that the people that built the taj mahal were all later put to death so they could never "repeat such a beautiful feat". My Dream House Architectural Model Dream House Architectural Model Foam Custom Built Model Criteria A : Investigating Generally, I revere everything in life, it illustrates a clear explanation of whom I want to become in the future. The grade 10 students were introduced to the MYP personal project and with this in mind, I had many vital ideas executed, but confused to choose a product that contributes to my interests. I love learning and discovering new things. After many cups of coffee, I obtained an idea or goal to create a three–dimensional foam architectural model of my dream house. My family built our own house in India last year and for viewing the stages of building a house became one of my interest. I always wondered how the workers/builders managed to get the house in perfect shape as the engineer contemplated. For instance, how can a bunch of line sketches or drawings on a piece of paper transform into a three–dimensional figure on land; when both the engineer and construction worker dont have any relationship in common. I have many questions that are still unanswered. Based on this personal, I will build a model of my dream house as a (final) product. This personal project is important because it will enhance my organizational skills, creativity and time management. The third most horrific attack in history, in my opinion, happened on 23 October 1989 in Beirut. A Marine barracks was bombed in Beirut, Lebanon killing 220 Marines and 21 other service personnel. This attack was considered to be the deadliest attack to the U.S. Marines since the battle of Iwo Jima in 1945 (CNN, 2015). The bombing was traced back to the Hezbollah militant group along with Iranian and Syrian involvement. Colonel Timothy Geraghty, the commander of the barracks, after much criticism for having lackadaisical security said that it was hard to defend the compound due to local airport traffic. Countermeasure ideas for the Reagan administration were divided. Some said the president should deepen involvement in the Middle East while others feared doing that would lead to a trajectory similar to that of Vietnam. Ultimately, Reagan followed the advice of Secretary Weinberger that if we weren't in it to win it, then we shouldn't go to war (FoxNews, 2013). Reagan withdrew the troops in Lebanon and chose to not get involved in the Middle East. It has been over thirty years since the barrack bombing, and this attack is still considered one of the top terror attacks of all time. Instead, he turned his attention to the southeast, where he occupied Kabul in 1504, and almost immediately embarked on his conquest of India (Source?). By 1527, Babur had defeated both the forces of the Lodi sultan and those of the Hindu confederacy (Source?). However, at the time of his death, in 1530, he had not yet transformed his territorial acquisitions into an empire (Source?). This task was left to his son Humayun, who lacked the military genius of his father and soon forfeited the Mughal foothold in India (Source?). Only through Persian military intervention did he manage to regain the capital cities of Agra and Delhi in 1555; however, Humayun 's son Akbar was credited with the real foundation of the Mughal Empire (Source?). During his reign from 1556 to 1605, Akbar established dominion over northern and central India, as far east as Bengal. He secured the northwestern frontier, which served as a gateway to India for so many previous invasions. Spread Of Islam : Worldwide Architecture Essay Spread of Islam: Worldwide Architecture Spain, Persia, Africa, and India Muamera Dzaferovic, Tyler Budach, Kyle Maser HIST 1141–90 ANCIENT AND MEDIEVAL WORLD HISTORY OCTOBER 20, 2016 When it comes to Islam and the religion as a whole, many see all of the "negatives" that come out of it. Little do they know that it was the Muslims who came up with one of the first hospitals, surgical innovations, philosophy, astronomy, geography and many more. One particular thing that they were most famous for was their architecture. From their vibrant colored tiles in Morocco, to the grand mosque in Cordoba for its columns, to the hypostyles in ancient Persia, and finally to the Taj Mahal of Agra in India, Before we start with the architectural designs, we need to start from the beginning. Islam spread worldwide after the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.S. died in 632 C.E. The Caliph that took over after the Messenger Muhammad p.b.u.h,. was Abu Bakr, who was a great companion and father–in–law to the Prophet. Power Of Religion : God Made Us, We Made Gods Mannat Shukla Professor Sonia Gutiérrez English 100 July 11 2014 Power of Religion "GOD MADE US, WE MADE GODS" It was the heat of the summer afternoon that radiated about the Indian temple of Shiva, a Hindu deity. The sheer amount of people running about was amazing but there was something that they all shared. Each one of them carried in their hands, a bag of rich milk that was to be offered to the statue of the deity in hopes of praising him. Milk was used to bathe the statue and the canals carried the residue of the aftermath down to the gutters. It is there along the deep canals that one can find multiple anorexic bodies leaning down and scooping up the milk from the gutters. They were hungry and poor. This was their only chance at a good meal. It was after seeing such scenes that I chose to feed that poor little malnourished child and his father instead of bathing Lord Shiva's statue, who were standing in that intolerable heat, looking at people passing by in hopes for food. Surprised at my actions, the pair simply looked at me with the kindest sets of eyes and the father of that child said: "May Allah bless you son." These words struck my consciousness ajar and I realized that they were Muslims not Hindus. I touched that man's feet (A symbol of respect to elders in Hinduism). In reality, a pleasing exterior view does not ensure people will be attracted to the particular heritage building. It is the story behind the heritage building that gives meaning to both building and people. As a heritage building, the building itself has been passed the test of time and becomes a typical landmark for a city. Hence, the story of the building explained its architecture style and structure which makes it be a remarkable building. For instance, Sultan Abdul Samad Building (SASB) has a unique architectural design which is the mixture of several architectural styles. This result is caused by the Charles Edwin Spooner, the state engineer of Public Work Department, Selangor, who worked in Ceylon before transferred to Selangor. Mughal architectural is a great historical source as it reflects on imperial ideology of the time. The Mughals drew upon various architectural traditions– indigenous Indian traditions, Indo Islamic architecture form the Sultanate period, Persian traditions, European traditions and introduced their own Timurid traditions of Central Asia. Right from Babur to Aurangzeb, architecture was used to assert power and seek legitimacy by the Mughals. Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, coming from the lush lands of Ferghana and being constantly on the move in India, mainly laid out gardens in Hindustan instead of large buildings. Yearning for the gardens of his homeland, Babur introduced a new Timurid garden– the charbagh into India, impacting subsequent Mughal architecture profoundly. The Charbagh was a symmetrical terraced garden divided into four equal parts by water channels and raised pathways, dotted with fountains, pavilions and trees. Catherine Ascher says upon establishing his capital at Agar he laid out a charbagh called Hast Behisht or Garden of Eight Paradises, on the banks of the Yamuna. His memoirs record that this served as his main residence and court. The garden from its name, its flowing water and fruit trees, was meant to reflect eight levels of paradise on earth, in which Babur resided. He
