Does Kinesio Tape provide benefits in patients with chronic lower back pain? Chronic lower back
pain is on the rise in not only America, but is on the rise in the world. According to a study by the
Annals of Rheumatic Diseases in 2010, approximately one in ten people suffer from lower back
pain, which makes lower back pain the leading cause of disability in the world
(http://ard.bmj.com/content/early/2014/02/14/annrheumdis–2013–204428). This rate is on the rise
and should be extremely alarming as common activities, including working a desk job, can
contribute to chronic lower back pain. While there are many different methods to treat chronic lower
back pain, including physical therapy, therapeutic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this study, Kinesio Tape was applied to the most painful area of the back while patients were in

A Short Story : A Story?
"Okay Cris, bedtime." Cristiano turned off the TV and threw the remote onto the arm of their white
leather couch. "But Pai, I'm not tired!" Junior crossed his arms and let out a small huff. Cristiano
sighed. It was already 11 and although he usually let Junior stay up until 12 on weekends, he had a
stressful day and all he wanted was to snuggle with his 8 year old son in bed before falling into a,
hopefully, long and deep sleep. "I'm sorry, but I'm tired and I can't leave you–" the loud ringing of
the doorbell cut him off. "Okay, tell you what," Cristiano started, ruffling Junior's hair, "if I see you
in the bathroom, in your PJs, brushing your teeth by the time I get back, we can watch one more
episode, sounds good?" Junior only quickly nodded and skipped off the couch and up the stairs.
Cristiano furrowed his eyebrows and headed off towards the front door. Who could he be expecting
at 11 at night? It's not like Marcelo or any of the guys would come this late. It's not like they come
at all anymore. Cristiano opened the door and heard the creaks of the crickets and the shuffling of
night, but there was nobody at the door. He looked left, and then right, wondering if Marcelo is
going to come of out nowhere and scare him like he used to. Still, no one, not even the distant sound
of somebody leaving. Cristiano scowled and was about to close the door, when he saw a brown box
in the corner of his eye. He picked it up and swiftly turned around towards his house, pushing

Essay Richard Drew and His Revolutionary Invention: Scotch...
An Auto shop Miracle: Scotch Tape
The 1920s, an era commonly known as the "Roaring Twenties" was a time period filled with various
new and innovative inventions. Starting off as a simple fix to a common problem, scotch tape was
introduced in 1925 by a humble engineer, Richard Drew. Almost a century has passed since Richard
Drew's invention of scotch tape, and it is still used for various uses.
The inventor, Richard Drew, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. After dropping out of college, he
miraculously obtained a job, working for the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company or
more commonly known as 3M. Drew was hired to take trial products to auto shops around the city.
A prevalent problem that auto shop workers faced when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sole reason that 3M company did not have to lay off any workers during the Great Depression
was because the apparent success of Scotch Brand Transparent Tape.
Continuing through the years, transparent tape has been a common household item. In 1985, Scotch
Tape was voted the "Most Indispensable Product in The Home" according to a national Roper
opinion poll. Many people regularly use scotch tape every day, which is no surprise because 3M
produces over 5.5 million miles of tape every year. We continue to use tape in the home, the office,
school, and doctors even use tape in hospital settings. Using Richard Drew's inspiration and
guidance, 3M has since made other tapes, and other inventions such as Micropore Surgical tape,
Pop–up Tape Strips, and Post–it Notes. Richard Drew exhaled his last breath in 1980, and with his
name he holds the title for the inventor of scotch tape. Richard Drew was recognized for his
invention and made it into the National Inventors Hall of Fame after his death. Scotch tape
continues to be used in 90% of all American homes, and continues to be a common household item.
From simple beginnings, scotch tape has become a revolutionary invention. Originally made to
repair a small problem faced by auto shop owners, Richard Drew's invention can now be bought in
almost all convenience stores. From wrapping Christmas gifts to mending a

Memory Loss Tapes
For this homework assignment you will need to watch the documentary, The Memory Loss Tapes
and respond to the questions below. The link can be found in the homework block on WAMAP. 1.
Based on Bessie, Fanny and Joe, what symptoms/behaviors do you see as being associated with the
early stages of Alzheimer's? All three have similar behavior of forgetting things. Bessie forgets most
of the names though that she still remembers the faces. Fanny forgets the stop signs; her driving also
gets worse since she could not react simultaneously. Joe forgets the way, and could not navigate
where to go, so he usually gets lost. 2. Think about the behaviors of the individuals living with

However, their ways of accepting this disease are pretty different from each other. With Bessie, she
stayed positive and welcomed it as she is refusing to have the medication helping her memories. She
kept going out and having conversations with people around her. Besides, Fanny was upset for her
disease since she could not be able to drive anymore, which in her words is being dependent on her
family. The fact is that she could no longer remember the street signs and the way to drive. Joe's
behavior is more positive than Fanny's. He could be able to use the computer to post his own entries
about Alzheimer. He was easy to get lost when he is by himself. Yolanda was diagnosed 6 years ago,
so her memory was damaged more. She talked to her reflection from the mirror as a friend she met;
her imagination makes she believes that there were some snakes on her lap, and she does not even

What Are Rumors In Thirteen Reasons Why?
Has a rumor ever been spread about you before? How would it make you feel? It isn't a very good
feeling, nobody likes to have rumors being spread about them. Rumors can go way too far
sometimes and people don't always know when to stop. You might not think that you are hurting the
person that you are making rumors about, but sometimes they don't show it and you really are
hurting them a lot. In Thirteen Reasons Why, Hannah has a lasting impact on the people around her
because she made all these tapes about why she killed herself and was trying to teach them that what
they did to her made her do it in the hopes that they wouldn't do it again. Clay, Justin, and Mr. Porter
were some of the people that had a lasting impact on Hannah.

Hannah had a bunch of things that she wanted to get off of her chest, so she made the tapes to give

all the tapes about why she killed herself and was trying to teach them that what they did to her
made her do it in the hopes that they wouldn't do it again, she, in turn, had a lasting impact on the
people around her. Clay was one of Hannah's friends, she really liked him and thought he was a kind
person to have to talk to and be around. Justin was Hannah's first kiss, he dated Hannah and later did
some terrible things to her. Mr. Porter was Hannah's guidance counselor at the time when Hannah
was going through all of this and he seemed to not even care that Hannah was being hurt. All in all,
rumors are a bad thing and people need to think about what they are saying before they spread the

Governmental Regulation And “Red Tape” Is Often The Target
Governmental regulation and "red tape" is often the target of the people who see an ineffective
government and a bloated public administration. Red tape is the complex process which
administrators much go through to solve a problem or conduct normal business. Regulations are
additional requirements for businesses and the people which may have the potential to harm the
economy. Red tape and regulations are the problem with this nations bureaucracy. To demonstrate
this problem, two models of bureaucratic dysfunction will be explored. This examination will be
followed by a discussion of the bureaucratic problem. The public bureaucracy has always been the
target of great scrutiny. The have been seen as unproductive and/or hungry for power. ... Show more

Trained incapacity occurs when an individual relies upon previous training to such an extent that
they will mold a situation to fit their training even if it does not. The fourth aspect of the model is
goal displacement which occurs when individuals blindly follows instructions and the goals of the
organization. Blindly following the organizations goals diminishes the role of reflection and
employee initiated reforms.
The final aspect of the first model is dual system of authority. This occurs when individuals are
asked to step outside of their training or approach an issue from a different training procedure. On
page 173, the author claim its similar to "getting a doctor to think of a problem from a legal or
engineering perspective" (Knott & Miller, 1987, 173). The first model, based upon the writings of
James March and Herbert Simons, places the blame on organizations failing to meet their stated
objectives on the individual. The second model does not place the same blame on the individual as
the first one does. Instead, the majority of the blame is placed upon the structure of the organization.
Individuals work most of the time to better their own self–interest. This is the main dilemma of the
second model, as it is very difficult to "structure an organization so that individuals, in pursing their
own self–interest, are always working for the organization's best interest at the same time" (Knott &
Miller, 1987, 174). This model contains

Krapps Last Tape: Imagery In Color Essay
Krapp's Last Tape: Imagery in Color
During the 20th century, there was an evident disillusion and disintegration in religious views and
human nature due to the horrific and appalling events and improvements in technology of this time,
such as the
Holocaust and the creation of the atom bomb. This has left people with little, if any, faith in powers
above or in their own kind, leaving them to linger in feelings of despair and that life is an absurd
joke. From these times grew the
Theater of Absurd. Here they attempted to depict the very illogical and ridiculous life they were
living. In comparison to traditional characteristics of earlier plays, the plots are seemingly deficient,

He is described as wearing "Rusty black narrow trousers to short for him. Rusty black

Surprising pair of dirty white boots. Disordered gray hair. Unshaven. Very near–sighted (but
unspectacled)," which is not the description of an anal retentive person (1627). Also despite
the ledger and the boxes, he still cannot find the tapes which evidently have obviously become
disorganized over time.
And in his ledger, he has made various notes about the subject matter of tapes, but he fails to
understand them. In addition, while reviewing his last tape, his younger self begins to speak of his
profound revelation that has changed his life, but impatiently the elder Krapp forwards past it. His
goal of self– improvement has unmistakably been abandoned and replaced by an uncaring and
callous temperament. These remnants of his once fastidious nature, further support the deterioration
of his former self.
Beckett also bestows the use of color to further uphold his view on life.
He manipulates imagery of the color black to further intensify the mood of pessimism and death. By
the house on the canal, Krapp recollects of a "dark young beauty with a black hooded
perambulatory" (1630). Beckett describes this baby carriage as being a "most funeral
thing," resembling the lack of hope that baby has as if it would better off dead (1630). This
usage of color can also be seen when his

The Hour Long Drive Back
The hour–long drive back to the city gave both men the time they needed to cool off. However, a
moody silence still blanketed the atmosphere, making it all the more difficult for Booker to impart
the news he knew would destroy Tom's world. On edge, he waited until Tom was sitting down in
their apartment before broaching the subject. "There's something I need to tell you."
Although not surprised by the statement, the flicker of foreboding churning Tom's stomach rose to a
nervous flutter in his chest. He was about to find out what the search had uncovered, and he had a
sick feeling it was all to do with him.
Swallowing down the anxious lump that had risen into his throat, he looked Booker square in the

"I dunno know, maybe," Booker replied absently. While the news was appalling, for Tom, the worst
was yet to come and taking a seat next to his lover, the dark–haired officer laid a gentle hand on his
knee. "Um, Tommy, there's something else."
With a frown, Tom's gaze darted over Booker's face, searching for answers. "Something else?"
Taking his lover's hand in his, Booker delivered the news. "There were two other tapes found hidden
in a safe. One with your name on it, and one with mine."
Tom's muscles stiffened, the color draining from his face, leaving him pale and shaken. "Wh–

With a nod of his head, Booker motioned toward the two evidence bags laying on the table.

The Pros And Cons Of Books
Books are challenged/banned all over the world because of their content. But they shouldn't be.
Books are tools and are very important to help students learn and grow. Books are used for leaning,
entertainment, and many movies/shows are based on books. Books are banned/ challenged mostly
by parents and students because of language, violence, and other things in the book that bother
them. For example, the novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. The book is based on the
characters Clay Jensen, and Hannah Baker, and their peers. In the book, Hannah is a girl that killed
herself but left behind 13 tapes that told the "story of her life" and why "her life ended". The book
includes Hannah's reasons for her to take her life and they're very realistic and detailed reasons. The
book is from Clay's point of view, and about Clay's feelings and reactions toward Hannah's death
and tapes. Thirteen Reasons Why shouldn't be banned not only because it's a very good book, but
because this book can help many people. This novel can help teenagers understand that the things
they say can hurt people and cause their personal problems to grow. It also shows them that their
actions matter a lot. To begin, the things that people say to others can affect them in many ways.
Words can hurt people for a very long time, and can cause for their personal problems to grow. To
show this, in the book Hannah talks about her first kiss with Justin, and about the rumors that were
said about that kiss. "Well,

Non Adhesive Tape
Capasso et al (1989) made a comparison of adhesive and non–adhesive tape when applied to the
ankle. The authors determined that non–adhesive tape must be exchanged every three days due to
loss of compression, and also confirmed that adhesive tape could be left on for five days. In this
study, the forces were measured by merging a sphygmomanometer with the ankle taping. However,
such method did not reveal an exact measurement and thus it was criticized. The subjects were
instructed to heel strike, foot weight bear and toe–off weight bear while the data was collected in
between phases as they held the position. This mechanical function did not reflect a real time gait
cycle and therefore it was an inaccurate representation to gait. Furthermore, ... Show more content

50 subjects were divided into two groups: one group was given an Aircast ankle brace and the other
only a supportive elastic tape. The subjects were evaluated at 10 days and then again 1 month after
treatment. Both bracing and taping groups presented major progress in their results (p=0.028 and
p=0.014 respectively of the Karlson score). Out of the 17 taping subjects, 6 dropped out which
showed a poor compliance to ankle taping. Callaghan (1997) reinforced this reflection in their
literature review by making a comparison of both ankle taping and bracing in the athlete. They
stated that taping may be awkward and uncomfortable to the subject rather than a brace.
Nonetheless, both Boyce et al (2005) and Capasso et al (1989) employed numerous evaluators to
tape the subjects and collect the data. Using 1 evaluator instead of multiple ones would have
increased the reliability of the data. In addition, controlled groups were used in neither studies
therefore making it hard to comprehend the suggested benefits of both taping and bracing when the
improvements owed to the natural healing process were not controlled

Role Of Duct Tape In Crime
Based on the above observations, the suspect in question did not commit the crime. The duct tape
found at the scene of the crime does not share qualities with the duct tape possessed by the suspect
that are significant enough to conclude that the suspect is guilty. All four pieces of duct tape were
the same color when investigated with both the naked eye and stereomicroscope. This similarity,
however, does not say much about whether or not the suspect committed the crime. Many varieties
of duct tape are gray/silver and all four pieces were the exact same color. The color observations are
insignificant because the duct tape found at the scene came from only one roll of duct tape. Since all
four pieces were the same color, the crime scene

Benefits Of Using Kinesiology Tape
Benefits of utilising Kinesiology tapes to attain stamina Many of you have perhaps come across the
taping applications of athletes in the sporting events. If you are interested to learn, this kind of
taping is named Kinesiology tape application method. So what is this tape and how is it used? One
more thing that may be interesting for athletes is that such sports tape may be used prior to a
sporting event. Athletes know if they experience rolling ankles and patellar tracking problems, a few
commonly heard ailments. Kinesiology tape is applied on the wounded area to avoid injuries if an
athlete plans to participate in an event. Using such a tape before the event will save the athlete from
potential surgeries or disorders after an event itself.

Hannah Baker's Poem
Receiving a shoebox with no return address began as an exciting surprise for Clay. Filled with
questions and excitement, he rushed to open it. Did they just forget to write a return address? Was it
intentional? Was it from a secret admirer? In the box, Clay finds seven audiotapes–each with a dark
blue number painted in the upper right–hand corner. He does not hesitate to grab an old stereo and
slide the first tape in. When he hears Hannah's voice, he realizes listening to the tapes will not be as
easy as pressing play had been. Here was Hannah Baker–whom he claims he barely knew–blaming

They are never direct or intentional antagonists. The entire purpose of Hannah's tape is to fight the
antagonistic control that life seems to have on everyone. She speaks about the control that rumors
had over her life, and if people had been more thoughtful about their actions, she would have ended
up somewhere else entirely. The power of one's choices, of course, can be beneficial, but in the case
of Hannah, it played the antagonist. Being trapped in the choices others have made, Hannah feels
the need for the "world to collapse around her," as Clay notes (261). This is the only way Hannah
can find to free herself from the cage that others built around her; to gain control once again,
Hannah takes the power of choice for herself. The decision to kill herself is hers and only hers, but it
cannot be denied that the decisions people make have the power to become the villain of a story

Copyright Law in Canada Essay
Canada's copyright law is one of our hardest laws to enforce. The reason the police have so much
trouble enforcing this law, is due to technology. This law is very easy to break, and once broken, it is
very hard to track down violators. So although some form of a copyright law is needed, the one we
have has, too many holes to be effective. There are three main ways in which the copyright law is
broken in everyday life. They is audio/video tape copying, plagiarism, and software piracy.
The first, and most commonly violated aspect of the copyright law, is the copying of audio tapes for
oneself and friends. Thanks to the invention of dual cassette stereos, this has become very easy. You
simply take an original or even another copy of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Very often a student when doing a research paper will "accidently" forget to footnote his
work. By "forgetting" to give the author credit, the student has claimed the work as his
own. Another reason students may copy someone else's work is to sound more sophisticated hoping
that if they use someone elses words it will sound better than their own. Generally, this provides an
easy way for a teacher or the police to catch them.
Teachers also plagiarize rather frequently. Very often a teacher will photocopy several pages from a
book, in order to save the students the expense of having to buy the book for themselves. While this
is a noble act by the teacher, in most cases, this is illegal. Unless the author of the book, gave
consent for his/her work to be freely distributed, teachers can't copy it any more than students or
anyone else can.
The third category of piracy is Software Pirating. There are several forms which this can take. The
most common form is very similar to audio/video cassettes. It is when someone copies a game or
program from his/her computer to someone elses. As long as the two people have the same type of
computer, (they both have apples or IBM's) this is a very simple process, so long as the programmer
didn't put a bug into the program (a precaution they take against people copying their work).
Another form of Computer Piracy is a "cracker". A cracker is someone

Who Is Minnie Telling The Truth?
Minnie is not telling the truth because her testimony does not align with the evidence shown in the
crime scene. For instance, Minnie reported that Horace was in the shower and fell, but in the image
Horace is shown with a toothbrush in hand. The toothpaste rested on the sink far from the bath. This
shows that Horace successfully and safely made it to the sink and was brushing his teeth. Therefore
no matter what, Horace did not die inside of the shower. That already conflicts with the story
presented by Minnie. Additionally, There is only one towel that had been used and was clumsily put
on the stand. The towel says "Hers" indicating that the towel belongs to Minnie and not to Horace.

The fourth tape is addressed to Tyler Down, who stalked Hannah outside of her bedroom window all

What is the Effect of Kinesio Tape on Ankle joint Proprioception (Joint Position Sense) and
Isokinetic Muscle Strength in the athletes after fatigue.
Background:
The ankle joint is the most commonly injured part of the body for individuals who participate in

This elastic tape was invented and developed by Dr. Kenso Kase in the 1970s. It is about the
thickness of human skin, and can be stretched to 20–40% of its original length before being applied
over the skin and it has a recoil action that generates a pulling force on the skin (Güner & Alsancak,
2014). Kinesio tape is one of the new techniques used in sports for many purposes. This tape can be
used for several aims such as pain reduction and restoring of range of motion (ROM) (Gonzalez–
Iglesias, Fernandez–de–Las–Penas, Cleland, Huijbregts, & Del Rosario Gutierrez–Vega, 2009),
assists muscle facilitation and inhibition (Fayson, Needle, & Kaminski, 2015; Subasi et al., 2016)
and improving of joint function and stability (Chang et al., 2010; Hsu, Chen, Lin, Wang, & Shih,

proprioception is believed to play an important role in the prevention and treatment of ankle sprain
(Arnold & Docherty, 2004). The KT action mechanism on proprioception is still not well
established, especially in healthy population. Stimulation of the cutaneous mechanoreceptors could

High Fidelity and Music Essay
High Fidelity and Music
In High Fidelity, Rob, the protagonist and narrator, says "I find myself worrying away at that stuff
about pop music again, whether I like it because I'm unhappy, or whether I'm unhappy because I like
it" (168). It is obvious to the reader that Rob has a very strong relationship to pop music but also
that this relationship is not as simple as the either–or dichotomy he describes it as. At first, it is an
obsession that is almost pathological; by the end, it is an aid to his relationships and his idea of who
he is. Rob's relationship to music helps us understand Rob as a character through the different ways
he uses it to interact in his environment – either as a crutch inhibiting his growth or as a way to aid

It is as if he is saying "here, this is me; this is who I am" so if the woman likes the tape, that means
she likes him, which would mean she is condoning who he is, which in turn would cause him to
weave the music that got this approval even more closely into his sense of self. Thus Rob is defined
by music and women he dates rather than through his own eyes. One gets a better idea of this when
Rob and Laura are arguing and Laura says she doesn't like music as much as she used to. Rob says,
"But you see... That's all there is of me. There isn't anything else. If you've lost interest in that,
you've lost interest in everything. What's the point of us?" (265). Here Rob is basically admitting
that he is using Laura to condone a definition of himself that has been created by, that entirely
consists of, music. If she can't do that anymore, there is no point of the relationship.
Another example of this is when Rob wants to sleep with Marie. The pathological aspect of this is
that part of the reason he is attracted to her is that he has always wanted to sleep with a musician.
This would be like circumventing the process of defining himself with music and then getting a
woman to condone this definition and just getting a definition and an approval from the same
source. The reader can see how Rob mingles music with Marie's personality when he says, "She

to hold counseling sessions with my peers and other week we taped our counseling session for
review and transcription. During these tapings I was asked to demonstrate communication and
counseling skills learned in this course. I was also expected to transcribe five minutes of taping as
well as submit a reflection paper with my transcription and tape. In this paper, I will discuss some of
the things I learned during this counseling and communications class. My experience coming into
this class, some of the skills I learned, and a few of the things I found helpful.
Experience
Coming into this counseling course I had little practice in the counseling role with adults. I was
nervous and uncomfortable coming into this class. Knowing that I was to be analyzed and taped
during counseling sessions was the source of my nervousness and discomfort. My counseling skills
were minimal and I was conscious of the fact that I was a complete novice in the counseling role. I
needed to learn basic therapeutic factors (Young, 2013) and gain practice in order to feel
comfortable in my counseling skills with adults. Furthermore,

Red Tape Analysis
Public administration can be defined as the process of implementing governmental policies into
results. According to Kettl "Public administration exists to implement the law, and the constitutional
system charts the path for authority" (2015, p. 56). When a policy has been formed by the legislator,
it is then delegated to the bureaucracy, who are non elected officials with administrative authority, to
carry out public programs. Thus, becoming the job of the administrator to translate the intent of the
legislators by implementing rules and regulations, known as red tape, for citizens to adhere to.
Society firmly believes that red tape and bureaucracy are inherently bad, and will always continue to
plague the government; however, how accurate is this belief? Due to the complexity of our
government, it requires a bureaucracy to where organizations allow non–elected officials to ... Show

Regulations are put into place for administrators to follow to avoid the issue of accountability.
Administrators need to exercise their discretion continuously, but by having them follow certain
rules and procedures, red tape ensures that standards are met when polices are being implemented
and executed. Also, red tape assures society that measures are being taken to ensure the safety of
citizens are being met by all levels of government. Kettl states, "Everything from the cars we drive,
the gas we put in them, the bicycles we peddle, the clothes we wear, the banks we use, the air we
breathe, the food we eat, and the airplanes in which we fly is covered by regulations, and the
administrators who write and enforce these rules" (2015, p. 38). If these regulations ceased to exist,

A New Methodology For Fingerprints
A New Methodology for Fingerprints The article I chose to research for my final capstone project
was an article that was published by the Forensic Science International and was written by Helio
Barros and Valter Stefani. The title of this article is "A New Methodology for the Visualization of
Latent Fingermarks on the Sticky Side of Adhesive Tapes Using Novel Fluorescent Dyes". A little
bit of abstract about what the paper and the experiments are about is that there are three novel
fluorescent dyes that were tested in numerous experiments for the detection of latent fingerprints.
These dyes were tested on different types of adhesive tapes that varied in color. These dyes that
were used are highly selective to fingerprints, do not need any ... Show more content on

A method that is used today for the visualization of latent fingerprints is a process of applying a dye
called Crystal Violet. Crystal Violet reacts with the fatty acids and lipids in your sweat and as a
result it produces a purple color. Although this process is used in the forensic science field today, it
has its limitations. The intense purple color of the dye sometimes results in the entire tape being
stained and as a result the entire fingerprint is ruined and can't be analyzed. The people in this article
wanted to find a better solution for the visualization of latent fingerprints that performed better than
the methods that we currently use today. This is where the introduction of the new dyes comes into
the article. The fluorescent dyes that are reported in this article can overcome the limitations that we
currently have with Crystal Violet and other commercial dyes. The Fluorescent dyes that were used
in the study in the article are named HB–7, HB–9, and HB–11. All of these dyes were synthesized
and purified in a laboratory and are currently patent pending. All the dyes used in this experiment
are water soluble and fluorescent in the blue–green region when exposed to ultra violet light at
365nm. Alongside the dyes that were used in this study, four different types of adhesive tapes were
also used ranging from different colors. Tape ID A that was used was Scotch Tape that was

Tata Steel Tata Steel is the largest steel producer in India. The main project described is the
development of a model for adjusting the mix of products to compensate for different levels of
power shortages at various times in the day. Prior to describing this project, the presenters show how
they used a productmix model to improve profitability, comparing its results to those of their
previous strategy of maximizing output. The electricity shortage model built on this one with the
added element of incorporating the fixed costs associated with the adjustments necessary to
compensate for a lack of power. The value in this tape is at several levels. The users of the model
make the point that they were skeptical that anyone in management science could tell metallurgists
how to improve their operation of a steel plant.

The Use of Literary Devices, Imagery, and Tone in Krapp’s...
The Imagery & Tone of a Play:
The Use of Literary Devices Imagery & Tone in Krapp's Last Tape
In the play Krapp's Last Tape, there is one protagonist who is described as sitting at a small table,
listening to tapes. Krapp is an impaired and "broken–down" elderly man who spends his time
listening to his younger voice on tapes. He is egotistical and subjective towards his younger self and
critiques the way he acted in a certain place or time. He is lonely, but okay with it as he would rather
focus on things that he has already experienced, rather then engage in new ones. He is essentially
stuck in the past. The essay written below disputes the literary devices of imagery and tone in order
to provide background and symbolism in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagery plays a big part in describing the character's appearance and actions in order to show what
a character is like and how they respond to differing situations. It can also shape the story and reveal
to the reader the background of a person, place, or thing. In Krapp's Last Tape, the only character is
given much detail and description in order to start the play at a point where the reader already
knows some information about this elderly man. The literary convention of imagery provides insight
into the character that will lead the play.
Krapp, the main protagonist in Krapp's Last Tape is given a good amount of description, leading
into the beginning of dialogue. His raggedy grey hair, disheveled clothes, and death–ridden face
give the reader an image of a character that has lived through many years. It is as if he has given up
on life and is preparing for what is to come. The fact that he is also "hard of hearing" and has a
"cracked voice," seems to have intensified the distaste towards his character. Krapp's descriptive
appearance helps to foreshadow his cynical and confined personality.
Krapp also remains motionless for most of the play. The only actions that do take place are of him
eating a banana in the very beginning and the loading of the three tapes that Krapp focuses on in the
dialogue. This imagery of him loading the tapes and sitting at his table depicts

The K2–Tape formulation delivered a higher level of performance versus standard hot melt/BOPP
film3 backing that was used by many K2–Tape competitors. K2–Tape's polyester film backing
provided more durability, holding force, and higher heat/cold resistance than BOPP film and was
suited for more challenging sealing applications. The K2–Tape product value proposition focused on
the lowest overall cost to the end user through superior performance. In–house testing provided
extensive comparative data illustrating K2–Tape's exceptional performance under wide–ranging
conditions.
There were many competitive tape products in the market. Carton sealing tape was available in a
variety of strengths, widths, thickness, adhesives and backing materials. K2–Tape offered the most
advanced adhesive technology, but often competed against inferior, economy grade products like
those produced by Ipack. Ipack tapes were lower quality, BOPP backed products that lacked

False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay
False Confessions
The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most
incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove
anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The
events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at the
very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to
determine his involvement with Denice Haraway 's disappearance. The agent who administered the
test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may have
been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a false
evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an attempt to get
the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to confess, but if
the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have evidence for a
crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that they have
evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The persistence
of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect. Ward 's
interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56).

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
In the book "Thirteen Reasons Why", Jay Asher shows that the actions that you make can affect
others. Clay Jensen comes home from school to find a box that is lying on his porch that contains
seven cassette tapes. After Clay finds out that the tapes are from Hannah Baker, a girl that
committed suicide a few days before, he goes to Tony's to find another way to listen to them because
Hannah said if you got the set then you are one of the reasons why. As Clay listens to the tapes
waiting to get to the one that is about him, he heard stories about other kids that did something to
Hannah. The kids ranged from being friends that turned on her to a peeping tom. One of her friends
put her on a list "best ass in the freshman class" and that started a land slide with everyone thing she
was a slut. When Clay's tape comes up, it is just a love story that explains the history between
Hannah and Clay. At a party Clay and Hannah made–out and made it to the bedroom before Hannah
broke down crying and forced Clay to leave. Hannah was sitting next to the bed when a boy
dropped off his drunken girl on the bed then left. Right after that a kid named Bryce came in and
raped the sleeping girl. Then after her world kept coming apart see was walking by the after effects

Tape Recorder Essay
INTRODUCTION: Tape recorder was invented for recording sound by Fritz Pfleumer in 1928
based on the invention of magnetic wire recording by valdemar poulsen in 1898.The first tape
recorder from AGE was the magnetophon K1, demonstrated in Germany in 1935.Eduard schuller of
AGE built the recorders and developed a ring shaped recording and playback head. "A tape recorder
is a portable electronic gadget used to record, reproduce, erase and rerecord sound on a magnetic
tape. This devise can be used without any problem anybody by operating the press buttons attached
to the recorder, viz. stop, play, wind, rewind, record, pause and reject".
GUIDELINES FOR USING A TAPE RECORDER IN TEACHING

What Is The Conflict In Thirteen Reasons Why
Thirteen reasons why essay

Stereotypes In Confession Tapes
A genre is a label for a film, movie, or song. Genres group together similar pieces based on their
characteristics. For example, the genre of classic rock is characterized by electric guitars, drums,
and bass guitars. Music is easier to classify than shows, so how does one decipher what genre a
show is? A valuable start is to know what characteristics fit into a genre. Each definition contributes
something different and unique to define documentary (Nichols, Bill). The show Confession Tapes,
was released on Netflix on September, 8th, 2017. It is listed as a Docuseries, a series of
documentaries, and as a True Crime show. These are the two characteristics that the producers think
embody the show. I undoubtedly agree with both classifications. ... Show more content on

The episode starts off with low intense music and shows a man hooked up to a lie detector test.
Throughout the rest of the film, the music used as a background to people talking to add intensity.
The second scene shows real photos from the court case and the crime scene. While the photos are
being shown an expert starts off with his thesis. The documentary starts to show the other experts
that will be talking, and gives them ten seconds to give their opening statement. This is what we see
in other documentaries. It then transitions to showing old news footage of a news reporter in front of
the crime scene. After the footage ends, Lawrence DeLisle starts to recall his account of the
incident. While he is talking, it shows all the scenery of the timeline from that night. The film shows
the mattress store that the family went to that day. They then show the ice cream shop they went to
after buying a mattress. The final scenery is the river road, where they went to watch boats, and
where the accident happens. This matches up with both documentary and true crime. This builds the
background for us so that we know what happened that night. The next person speaking is one of the

a direction that Lawrence is guilty. To keep the film from showing bias, the next person up to speak

anything from the case. Then promptly after, an old news interview is shown of a witness to the
accident. The witness is then interviewed, at her apartment, where she gives her

Thesis For Thirteen Reason Why
In the novel Thirteen Reason Why, written by Jay Asher, a highschool boy named Clay Jensen
receives a box full of tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl who committed suicide just two weeks
earlier. The book itself focuses on many important issues experienced by high schoolers today
including bullying and suicide. Jay Asher makes sure to teach the reader important lessons that can
be applied to things that we do every day. The most meaningful lesson that Jay Asher is trying to
teach the reader is that although our actions may seem small and insignificant, they have much
bigger consequences than we would imagine.
The book begins with the protagonist, Clay Jensen, at the post office, mailing a package to someone

and selective. When you mess with one part of a person's life, you're messing with their entire life"
(Asher 203–204). Hannah clearly seems to be aware of the fact that people do not think realize that
their actions have such an impact on Hannah's feelings. Therefore, she makes sure that the people
listening to the tapes will realize how their behavior towards Hannah, though it seemed meaningless
at the moment, really did have a huge impact on her

. . Hm . . . The black ball . . . (He raises his head, stares blankly front. Puzzled.) Black ball?"
Although the "black ball" goes undefined, it's proximity in the sentence suggests a relationship to
his mother's death. Without further investigation of this black ball, the play continues; however, the
black ball returns to display its importance in the piece later: "In the end I held it out to him and he
took it in his mouth, gently, gently. A small, old, black, hard, solid rubber ball. (Pause.) I shall feel
it, in my hand, until my dying day. (Pause.) I might have kept it. (Pause.) But I gave it to the dog."
At the moment of his mother's death, Krapp gives his "old, black, hard, solid rubber ball" to the
"dog"–who was prior identified as being white. Passing off the darkness of death to the innocence
and purity of the white dog "gently, gently" receiving it. Despite his relinquishing of his memories
of his mother in the form of the black ball, he "shall feel it" until his "dying day." Beckett writes
throughout the play about darkness in a way that is far more appreciative than is typical. Darkness
has presence and keep's Krapp company. That presence of the darkness is made through memory,
because Krapp can feel his mother's presence in the dark black ball. His ability to hold onto that
feeling until his "dying day" suggests that his mothers memory will live on with

cm) was coated on one side with a magnetic oxide. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound
onto a reel, which then could be hand–threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were
approximately the size of a small refrigerator. Early tapes had capacities under 11MB, and required
nearly a half hour to read or write the entire reel. Data was written across the tape one byte at a time,
creating one track for each bit. An additional track was added ... Show more content on

A stream of data is written along the length of the tape until the end is reached, then the tape
reverses and the next track is written beneath the first one (see Figure 7.18). This process continues
until the track capacity of the tape has been reached. Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch
Cartridge (QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape
(DAT) and 8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes
straight across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape
over a tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in
Figure 7.19. (During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has
been written.) The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape.
(This configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies
write data at 40–degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus
increasing the recording density. Helical scan systems tend to be slower, and the tapes are subject to
more wear than serpentine systems with their simpler tape paths. FIGURE 7.18 Three Recording

  • 1. Kinesio Tape Research Paper Megan Kadel Zach Wilson ENG 102–1044 March 9th, 2017 Does Kinesio Tape provide benefits in patients with chronic lower back pain? Chronic lower back pain is on the rise in not only America, but is on the rise in the world. According to a study by the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases in 2010, approximately one in ten people suffer from lower back pain, which makes lower back pain the leading cause of disability in the world (http://ard.bmj.com/content/early/2014/02/14/annrheumdis–2013–204428). This rate is on the rise and should be extremely alarming as common activities, including working a desk job, can contribute to chronic lower back pain. • 2. A Short Story : A Story? "Okay Cris, bedtime." Cristiano turned off the TV and threw the remote onto the arm of their white leather couch. "But Pai, I'm not tired!" Junior crossed his arms and let out a small huff. Cristiano sighed. It was already 11 and although he usually let Junior stay up until 12 on weekends, he had a stressful day and all he wanted was to snuggle with his 8 year old son in bed before falling into a, hopefully, long and deep sleep. "I'm sorry, but I'm tired and I can't leave you–" the loud ringing of the doorbell cut him off. "Okay, tell you what," Cristiano started, ruffling Junior's hair, "if I see you in the bathroom, in your PJs, brushing your teeth by the time I get back, we can watch one more episode, sounds good?" Junior only quickly nodded and skipped off the couch and up the stairs. Cristiano furrowed his eyebrows and headed off towards the front door. Who could he be expecting at 11 at night? It's not like Marcelo or any of the guys would come this late. It's not like they come at all anymore. Cristiano opened the door and heard the creaks of the crickets and the shuffling of night, but there was nobody at the door. He looked left, and then right, wondering if Marcelo is going to come of out nowhere and scare him like he used to. Still, no one, not even the distant sound of somebody leaving. Cristiano scowled and was about to close the door, when he saw a brown box in the corner of his eye. He picked it up and swiftly turned around towards his house, pushing ... An Auto shop Miracle: Scotch Tape The 1920s, an era commonly known as the "Roaring Twenties" was a time period filled with various new and innovative inventions. Starting off as a simple fix to a common problem, scotch tape was introduced in 1925 by a humble engineer, Richard Drew. Almost a century has passed since Richard Drew's invention of scotch tape, and it is still used for various uses. The inventor, Richard Drew, grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. Governmental Regulation And “Red Tape” Is Often The Target Governmental regulation and "red tape" is often the target of the people who see an ineffective government and a bloated public administration. Red tape is the complex process which administrators much go through to solve a problem or conduct normal business. Regulations are additional requirements for businesses and the people which may have the potential to harm the economy. Red tape and regulations are the problem with this nations bureaucracy. To demonstrate this problem, two models of bureaucratic dysfunction will be explored. This examination will be followed by a discussion of the bureaucratic problem. The public bureaucracy has always been the target of great scrutiny. The have been seen as unproductive and/or hungry for power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trained incapacity occurs when an individual relies upon previous training to such an extent that they will mold a situation to fit their training even if it does not. The fourth aspect of the model is goal displacement which occurs when individuals blindly follows instructions and the goals of the organization. Blindly following the organizations goals diminishes the role of reflection and employee initiated reforms. The final aspect of the first model is dual system of authority. This occurs when individuals are asked to step outside of their training or approach an issue from a different training procedure. On page 173, the author claim its similar to "getting a doctor to think of a problem from a legal or engineering perspective" (Knott & Miller, 1987, 173). The first model, based upon the writings of James March and Herbert Simons, places the blame on organizations failing to meet their stated objectives on the individual. The second model does not place the same blame on the individual as the first one does. Instead, the majority of the blame is placed upon the structure of the organization. Individuals work most of the time to better their own self–interest. This is the main dilemma of the second model, as it is very difficult to "structure an organization so that individuals, in pursing their own self–interest, are always working for the organization's best interest at the same time" (Knott & Miller, 1987, 174). • 8. Krapps Last Tape: Imagery In Color Essay Krapp's Last Tape: Imagery in Color During the 20th century, there was an evident disillusion and disintegration in religious views and human nature due to the horrific and appalling events and improvements in technology of this time, such as the Holocaust and the creation of the atom bomb. This has left people with little, if any, faith in powers above or in their own kind, leaving them to linger in feelings of despair and that life is an absurd joke. From these times grew the Theater of Absurd. Here they attempted to depict the very illogical and ridiculous life they were living. Also despite the ledger and the boxes, he still cannot find the tapes which evidently have obviously become disorganized over time. And in his ledger, he has made various notes about the subject matter of tapes, but he fails to understand them. In addition, while reviewing his last tape, his younger self begins to speak of his profound revelation that has changed his life, but impatiently the elder Krapp forwards past it. His goal of self– improvement has unmistakably been abandoned and replaced by an uncaring and callous temperament. These remnants of his once fastidious nature, further support the deterioration of his former self. Beckett also bestows the use of color to further uphold his view on life. He manipulates imagery of the color black to further intensify the mood of pessimism and death. By the house on the canal, Krapp recollects of a "dark young beauty with a black hooded perambulatory" (1630). Beckett describes this baby carriage as being a "most funeral thing," resembling the lack of hope that baby has as if it would better off dead (1630). This usage of color can also be seen when his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although not surprised by the statement, the flicker of foreboding churning Tom's stomach rose to a nervous flutter in his chest. Do they all grow up to be pedophiles?" "I dunno know, maybe," Booker replied absently. While the news was appalling, for Tom, the worst was yet to come and taking a seat next to his lover, the dark–haired officer laid a gentle hand on his knee. "Um, Tommy, there's something else." With a frown, Tom's gaze darted over Booker's face, searching for answers. "Something else?" Taking his lover's hand in his, Booker delivered the news. "There were two other tapes found hidden in a safe. One with your name on it, and one with mine." Tom's muscles stiffened, the color draining from his face, leaving him pale and shaken. "Wh– What?" • 11. The Pros And Cons Of Books Books are challenged/banned all over the world because of their content. But they shouldn't be. Books are tools and are very important to help students learn and grow. Books are used for leaning, entertainment, and many movies/shows are based on books. Books are banned/ challenged mostly by parents and students because of language, violence, and other things in the book that bother them. For example, the novel Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. The book is based on the characters Clay Jensen, and Hannah Baker, and their peers. In the book, Hannah is a girl that killed herself but left behind 13 tapes that told the "story of her life" and why "her life ended". The book includes Hannah's reasons for her to take her life and they're very realistic and detailed reasons. The book is from Clay's point of view, and about Clay's feelings and reactions toward Hannah's death and tapes. Thirteen Reasons Why shouldn't be banned not only because it's a very good book, but because this book can help many people. This novel can help teenagers understand that the things they say can hurt people and cause their personal problems to grow. It also shows them that their actions matter a lot. To begin, the things that people say to others can affect them in many ways. Words can hurt people for a very long time, and can cause for their personal problems to grow. To show this, in the book Hannah talks about her first kiss with Justin, and about the rumors that were said about that kiss. "Well, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The authors determined that non–adhesive tape must be exchanged every three days due to loss of compression, and also confirmed that adhesive tape could be left on for five days. In this study, the forces were measured by merging a sphygmomanometer with the ankle taping. However, such method did not reveal an exact measurement and thus it was criticized. The subjects were instructed to heel strike, foot weight bear and toe–off weight bear while the data was collected in between phases as they held the position. Out of the 17 taping subjects, 6 dropped out which showed a poor compliance to ankle taping. Callaghan (1997) reinforced this reflection in their literature review by making a comparison of both ankle taping and bracing in the athlete. They stated that taping may be awkward and uncomfortable to the subject rather than a brace. Nonetheless, both Boyce et al (2005) and Capasso et al (1989) employed numerous evaluators to tape the subjects and collect the data. This law is very easy to break, and once broken, it is very hard to track down violators. So although some form of a copyright law is needed, the one we have has, too many holes to be effective. There are three main ways in which the copyright law is broken in everyday life. They is audio/video tape copying, plagiarism, and software piracy. The first, and most commonly violated aspect of the copyright law, is the copying of audio tapes for oneself and friends. Thanks to the invention of dual cassette stereos, this has become very easy. You simply take an original or even another copy of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Very often a student when doing a research paper will "accidently" forget to footnote his work. By "forgetting" to give the author credit, the student has claimed the work as his own. Another reason students may copy someone else's work is to sound more sophisticated hoping that if they use someone elses words it will sound better than their own. Generally, this provides an easy way for a teacher or the police to catch them. Teachers also plagiarize rather frequently. Very often a teacher will photocopy several pages from a book, in order to save the students the expense of having to buy the book for themselves. While this is a noble act by the teacher, in most cases, this is illegal. Unless the author of the book, gave consent for his/her work to be freely distributed, teachers can't copy it any more than students or anyone else can. The third category of piracy is Software Pirating. There are several forms which this can take. The most common form is very similar to audio/video cassettes. It is when someone copies a game or program from his/her computer to someone elses. As long as the two people have the same type of computer, (they both have apples or IBM's) this is a very simple process, so long as the programmer didn't put a bug into the program (a precaution they take against people copying their work). It is about the thickness of human skin, and can be stretched to 20–40% of its original length before being applied over the skin and it has a recoil action that generates a pulling force on the skin (Güner & Alsancak, 2014). Kinesio tape is one of the new techniques used in sports for many purposes. This tape can be used for several aims such as pain reduction and restoring of range of motion (ROM) (Gonzalez– Iglesias, Fernandez–de–Las–Penas, Cleland, Huijbregts, & Del Rosario Gutierrez–Vega, 2009), assists muscle facilitation and inhibition (Fayson, Needle, & Kaminski, 2015; Subasi et al., 2016) and improving of joint function and stability (Chang et al., 2010; Hsu, Chen, Lin, Wang, & Shih, 2009). It is obvious to the reader that Rob has a very strong relationship to pop music but also that this relationship is not as simple as the either–or dichotomy he describes it as. At first, it is an obsession that is almost pathological; by the end, it is an aid to his relationships and his idea of who he is. Thus Rob is defined by music and women he dates rather than through his own eyes. One gets a better idea of this when Rob and Laura are arguing and Laura says she doesn't like music as much as she used to. Rob says, "But you see... That's all there is of me. There isn't anything else. If you've lost interest in that, you've lost interest in everything. What's the point of us?" (265). Here Rob is basically admitting that he is using Laura to condone a definition of himself that has been created by, that entirely consists of, music. If she can't do that anymore, there is no point of the relationship. Another example of this is when Rob wants to sleep with Marie. The pathological aspect of this is that part of the reason he is attracted to her is that he has always wanted to sleep with a musician. This would be like circumventing the process of defining himself with music and then getting a woman to condone this definition and just getting a definition and an approval from the same source. The K2–Tape product value proposition focused on the lowest overall cost to the end user through superior performance. In–house testing provided extensive comparative data illustrating K2–Tape's exceptional performance under wide–ranging conditions. There were many competitive tape products in the market. Carton sealing tape was available in a variety of strengths, widths, thickness, adhesives and backing materials. • 32. False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay False Confessions The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at the very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to determine his involvement with Denice Haraway 's disappearance. The agent who administered the test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may have been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a false evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an attempt to get the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to confess, but if the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have evidence for a crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that they have evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The persistence of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect. Ward 's interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56). The questioning was also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bookshelves: The Everglades National Park As a clearing lay before us in an otherwise densely wooded area, I helped my mother gingerly thread Day–Glo pink flagging tape around the rare native plants on the periphery. The tape was intended to serve as a visual warning to the builders who would soon be swarming the area like ants. Towering Australian pines swayed in the wind above us as she recited the plant names in Latin, hoping I would catch on. The land had long been abandoned, judging by the age of the candy– colored refrigerator doors and glass–bottle dispensing Coca–Cola machine left to decay under the hot Florida sun. For example, the genre of classic rock is characterized by electric guitars, drums, and bass guitars. Music is easier to classify than shows, so how does one decipher what genre a show is? A valuable start is to know what characteristics fit into a genre. Each definition contributes something different and unique to define documentary (Nichols, Bill). The show Confession Tapes, was released on Netflix on September, 8th, 2017. It is listed as a Docuseries, a series of documentaries, and as a True Crime show. The second scene shows real photos from the court case and the crime scene. While the photos are being shown an expert starts off with his thesis. The documentary starts to show the other experts that will be talking, and gives them ten seconds to give their opening statement. This is what we see in other documentaries. It then transitions to showing old news footage of a news reporter in front of the crime scene. After the footage ends, Lawrence DeLisle starts to recall his account of the incident. While he is talking, it shows all the scenery of the timeline from that night. The film shows the mattress store that the family went to that day. They then show the ice cream shop they went to after buying a mattress. The final scenery is the river road, where they went to watch boats, and where the accident happens. This matches up with both documentary and true crime. This builds the background for us so that we know what happened that night. The next person speaking is one of the police chiefs involved in the case. He recalls what he remembers that night. The chief is shown while he is speaking, in interview form. The police chief casts his doubt on the case when he is being interviewed, he believes that Lawrence might be responsible. This starts to lead the viewer in a direction that Lawrence is guilty. To keep the film from showing bias, the next person up to speak is the defense attorney. The attorney only speaks for a brief amount of time and does not address anything from the case. Thesis For Thirteen Reason Why In the novel Thirteen Reason Why, written by Jay Asher, a highschool boy named Clay Jensen receives a box full of tapes recorded by Hannah Baker, a girl who committed suicide just two weeks earlier. The book itself focuses on many important issues experienced by high schoolers today including bullying and suicide. Jay Asher makes sure to teach the reader important lessons that can be applied to things that we do every day. The most meaningful lesson that Jay Asher is trying to teach the reader is that although our actions may seem small and insignificant, they have much bigger consequences than we would imagine. When you mess with one part of a person's life, you're messing with their entire life" (Asher 203–204). Hannah clearly seems to be aware of the fact that people do not think realize that their actions have such an impact on Hannah's feelings. Krapp's Last Tape Essay Samuel Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape is a dismally brooding play where Krapp, the protagonist, converses with himself through his disassociated recorded personal accounts. The old man, Krapp, recounts and reflects on his life through his relationships with darkness and vision. Krapp's last tape unfolds onstage in lightness and darkness between the dichotomous interplay of open and closed eyes which when used as a lens to understand Krapp's emotions highlights his unconventional moments of vulnerability in light and comfort in his dark solitude. Without further investigation of this black ball, the play continues; however, the black ball returns to display its importance in the piece later: "In the end I held it out to him and he took it in his mouth, gently, gently. A small, old, black, hard, solid rubber ball. (Pause.) I shall feel it, in my hand, until my dying day. (Pause.) I might have kept it. (Pause.) But I gave it to the dog." At the moment of his mother's death, Krapp gives his "old, black, hard, solid rubber ball" to the "dog"–who was prior identified as being white. • 42. Magnetic Tape Essay VAT reaches the last usable sectors on the disk. 7.6 MAGNETIC TAPE Magnetic tape is the oldest and most cost–effective of all mass–storage devices. First–generation magnetic tapes were made of the same material used by analog tape recorders. A cellulose–acetate film one–half inch wide (1.25 cm) was coated on one side with a magnetic oxide. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound onto a reel, which then could be hand–threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were approximately the size of a small refrigerator. Early tapes had capacities under 11MB, and required nearly a half hour to read or write the entire reel. Data was written across the tape one byte at a time, creating one track for each bit. An additional track was added ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A stream of data is written along the length of the tape until the end is reached, then the tape reverses and the next track is written beneath the first one (see Figure 7.18). This process continues until the track capacity of the tape has been reached. Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch Cartridge (QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape (DAT) and 8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes straight across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape over a tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in Figure 7.19. (During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has been written.) The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape. (This configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies write data at 40–degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus increasing the recording density. Helical scan systems tend to be slower, and the tapes are subject to more wear than serpentine systems with their simpler tape paths.
