College Is Worth
Is it Worth It? In every news article or advertisement about college you notice that the benefits of college are a "stable" job, a very successful life
and a whole lot of money. But are those the only benefits of college? No, of course not. College is about the experience and what you gain from it
while you are still there. However, the price to attend college can be impractical.
First day of the semester, a student walks in pottery class and notices that he hates it. The clay is too sticky and making pots is just not his thing. This
is an example of self–discovery, in which college allows you to do. College gives you time to see what you are or are not interested in. As well as
searching and learning new things about who you are.

When college pops up in the mind of a high school graduate they sometimes ask themselves, is it really worth it . Well the answer is yes! College is
very much worth it. Many times people have debated on wether to go to college or just stay as a high school graduate.
But i'm here to prove that college is worth it because you get paid more, earn responsibility, and you get health insurance and retirement plans.
First, college is more valuable because you get paid more. According to "Pro&Con Arguments" it states, " on average, a college graduate with a
bachelor degree earned $30,000 more per year than a high school graduate, over $500,000 more over an year." This shows that high school graduates
don't make a lot of money, that's why it's important to get an education and money. Getting an education gets you money and it's important to go to
college because if you don't go to college you are more likely to never gain responsibility for anything you do in life. Most people agree with going
to college to make money but others just think that college is just a waste and you only go there to go to school but actually going to college gets you
in the idea of making your own decisions and also taking responsibility for many things.Which takes me to my next reason why ... Show more content

"10 ways why you should go to college" says that " A lot of high school graduates have never worked, paid a bill, or learned anything about personal

help kids think and make decisions. Kids who go to college also end up learning about maturity and thinking about their future. People also believe that
without going to college and gaining responsibility, kids become sloppy and irresponsible and would never think about the future and would most
likely almost procrastinate everything in their everyday

Society today is often very pressuring towards young adults when it comes to attending college. Maybe it's because it is the most appropriate idea for
people. College provides the average human with a higher satisfaction of life due to the experience and the positives outcomes than that of someone
who chooses not to go to college. Although college results in the possibility of debt afterwards, it is still worth the journey.
College provides a person with an opportunity to improve oneself. By having the freedom to enjoy and interact with people from different social
backgrounds, economic classes and views in life, one develops maturity and social skills that will help later in life. Interaction with these diverse
groups of people allows one to develop social skills that will take someone further in life than being around homogenous people your whole life.

Though the question that is asked repetitively is whether "college is really worth it?" There are some really good benefits that college can teach you
such as, knowledge, credibility, social networking, independence, and budgeting. But there are a lot of skills that college doesn't teach you. Jeffery

In my family not attending college was not an option given to us, everyone in my family went to college and graduated. My sister attended The

Is College Really Worth It? Furthering your education in this world is important. Going to college is very beneficial to society because it helps the
country run smoother. Some reasons people believe everyone should attend college are that college graduates tend to make more income than a
non–college attendee, more companies and businesses require you to have a degree to your name to work for them, and you are more likely to have a
better health care insurance and retirement plan. But others tend to feel like college is not isn't worth the time of day. Others who believe in not
attending colleges usually have reasons like it takes too long to pay off your student loans and debt, recent college graduates are underemployed or
struggle to find work, and many students who attend colleges and universities tend to drop out and wastes their own and government money. The

Is A College Education Worth It?
In today's society, the idea of receiving a college education has been pondered quite a bit as to whether or not it is actually worth it. According to
Michelle Adam, many people "...today believe that getting a good education is key to success in our society, this revealed surprising issues that
challenge the notion of higher education being worth its price tag" (59). Naturally, many high school graduates apply for college right before or after
graduation. Others decide to go into the work force, armed forces, or simply remain unemployed. The question that many people debate about is, is a

A college education isn't meant to make people become rich, but to help them fulfill their interests within a career with the long term benefits of
receiving a degree. "People who argue that college is worth it contend that college graduates have higher employment rates, bigger salaries, and more
work benefits than high school graduates (ProCon.org)." So, it seems that college is worth more than just graduating from high school with a diploma
and entering the work force. If you think about it, many people don't attend college or continue due to the high costs of tuition, books, and room &
board. I agree with Dr. Ricardo Azziz that "...we must focus on educating those without a college degree on its value, and foster access and retention so
that those who want to attend college can attend –– and finish (Azziz)." It's understandable that people fear debt and becoming burdened with loans,
but an education is well worth the long term benefits. A college education is especially useful for when the economy is not doing well.
Declines in employment and wages were considerably more severe for those with less education, recent college graduates who

As kaufman states in her article, "Yes, college is worth it, and it's not even close. For all the struggles that many young college graduates face, a
four–year degree has probably never been more valuable." In today's studies, it has shown that the pay gap between college grads compared to
others has reached a high point, with college students making 98 percent more an hour, which has increased from 89 percent five years ago. If more
high school students planned on going to college and graduating the pay for these students would decrease. As many teenagers do not choose to face
the challenge of college, the pay for those who do graduate increased. Not too many years ago, even high school was considered un–useful, but as
todays economy continues to go up, the more school becomes valuable. Even thirteen years of education is not enough for todays standards, as it
continues to become more of a "technology advanced" world the more years in college will be suggested to be "well–off", even not going to college
can cost you, as New York Times article by Kaufman reads "Not going to college can cost you up to half a million dollars". Therefore, the fact of it all
is the economy is going to force us to go to college so we can make a living and be considered to standard, and for this to be achieved 16 or more years
of school will be necessary. Yet, from the average person, this seems to only fix a minor percentage of issues we all

Students don't take their education seriously. Many students don't realize that their life is about to be severely impacted in a negative way because
they don't care about their education until they get to junior year, but it's too late. Students should have a goal where they get to go to college because
it's worth the value. Graduating from high school and moving on to college will impact your life in a positive way by gaining more money than a person
without a degree and will help you have a closer family.
People who graduate college generally make more money. They are able to have good jobs and are able to support themselves and their family. For
example, in the video "Five ways ed pays" it says that students that graduate from high school and then graduate from college gain over $20,000more
per year than students without a degree. Also students that have a degree get 63% more hourly wages than students without a degree. Finally students
that get a degree are 1/3 more likely to be ensured by an employer instead of a student without a degree. This means that students that graduate from
college will end up making more money in the long run.

for themselves. As I began my research to answer the question, I noticed something that stood out to me. There are many more articles that say college
is well worth it, than articles that say otherwise. I began with an article by Liz Weston of TIME. She provided statements and research on both side
but ultimately swayed towards saying that a bachelors degree is worth more than a high school diploma. She situated the article based on "The
reduced conviction among recent graduates is hardly surprising. Those grads emerged with more debt and poorer employment prospects due to a
struggling economy. As the debt gets paid off and their earnings rise, they may have a change of heart". My parents told me growing up that they took

that a successful education is completely worth it. College is a commitment you have to make over a period of time. As a high school student you may
be thinking that you don't enjoy school or are asking yourself, "Why would I choose to go to even more school after completing 12 years of it?"
Picture this, over the course or working 40 years someone with a high school diploma can make around $1,116,600 while someone with a bachelor's

So, Is college really worth it?
About a generation ago getting a college education was born out of the pursuit of knowledge, but now it has become a competition for students to get
into the most accredited University right after they are handed their high school diploma. College tuition has become so expensive in the last ten years
that people are now debating whether or not college it is worth pursuing right out of high school. A collegeeducation is what the student makes out of
it, and if they 're only going to get a degree it is important to know that a college education does not guarantee a job and stable future. The majority of
young adults at the end of high school don 't even know what career they want to pursue because of the restricting high school curriculum, so to
remedy this people should consider community college or taking a gap year. Whether or not to get a college education depends on what the person
wants to do. Four year college should not be the default after finishing high school in America.

Cheever says that most parents are willing to invest or borrow $100,000 to help their kid make it out of college with a solid degree that will take
him/her far in life's journey (103). But what if your parents don't have the money? Well then scholarships and grants could be a way for you to achieve
your dreams of higher education.
The solution to the problem of choosing whether or not college is the way to go is simple. If you can afford to go and have motivation to work
hard for a degree in something you find interesting, then it truly is worth it to choose college first before going into the work force. Adam seemed to
find the same solution in his essay that yes indeed college is the route to choose if you want to live a comfortable life with a good job (61). Cheever
stats that college is the right decision after high school but he believes that colleges also need to work harder to serve students long after their years are
done at that college. There should be more benefits and alumni services for people who took the time to graduate (103).
All in all, College is worth the money you pay. A student with a 4year degree will earn $20,000 dollars more a year and over $1 million more in their

Dr. Seuss once said "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more thing that you learn, the more places you will go". This quote
was meant to emphasize that the more people learn, the more they will get out of it of life. After high school, students will either go to college or get a
job that does not require much of a college degree and work like that for the rest of their life. While some people believe that college is not worth the
cost, it can be argued that college is actually worth its cost because of better jobs and the income and college prepares the individual for life because
of the challenges college brings.
First, it can be proven that college is worth it because with the college degree actually provides higher income to the graduate. . Leonhardt illustrates

To discourage someone from going to college is like telling them they cannot achieve their dreams. In a sense, they are not good enough to compete in
today's world. Furthermore, Leinhardt emphasizes the fact that "college graduates though hardly immune from [economic] downturns are also far less
likely to be unemployed than other non–graduates" (Source D). Going to college prepares a person for higher level of stress and pushes the individual

College Education Is Not Worth It
Americans today tend to believe that once graduating High School, college is redundant. On the one hand, some argue that college education is not
worth it. From this perspective, college is expensive and students will be in an enormous amount of debt. Though I concede that college is expensive, I
still maintain that students should go to college once graduating high school. My own view is that college is a must after high school. Although, our
society believes college is too expensive therefore, not necessary, on the other hand college education gives us a personal development, higher income
and more job opportunities.

The question here is, is college worth it? Many people question this especially high school students who are about to graduate. This debate is still
taking place today. The common misunderstood saying is, if you have a degree you will then have a good job. But this is not the case because in
today's society there are so many people with degrees who still cannot find a job. The rate of unemployment is increasing rapidly on a yearly basis.
High school students see it this way, if I can't find a job with a degree then it's not worth the time, and from there on they quit after high school. On the
other side of the debate college education is no longer an option or a privilege, but rather it has become a necessity. The rate of students going to
college is increasing every year plus the number of colleges being build is also increasing. In my believe college provides me with higher education

College started to be the direction many students take after high school. During junior year, all the teachers start telling their student to consider college
and the major that they want to pursue. Correspondingly, the students start to take the SAT and ACT tests. In junior year many students start to think if
they are ready for college. Also, they start thinking about the major they want to enroll in if they decide to apply for college. More questions come in
mind such as, would college be suitable for everyone? And is college worth the money the students would have to spend on tuition every semester
until they graduate? From Leonhardt perspective, college is worth even with the debt it comes with. According to Matthews's argument, college
degree is needed because it is becoming more valuable with time. The arguments that both of Leonhardt and Matthews give prove that college is
worth it and it is a good financial decision for most of the students. Leonhardt believes that college is beneficial and especially financially. The debt
that college students go through becomes negative $500,000. After students finish college and start working they pay their debt easily. Leonhardt
mentioned "Americans with four years college degrees made 98 percent more an hour on average in 2013 than people without a degree." This statistic
shows that when students start working they can pay their debt in a wisely time depending on their major.

College Is It Worth It?
College, is it Worth it? Is college really worth the time and money? This is the question I am going to be exploring. While many people may have an
idea that college is just an abundance of debt, other students argue that most of the information they learn doesn't provide them with the value they
thought it would (Adams 1). Many college students who grow up with the opportunity to go to college usually don't stress the idea of going to school,
but most students who don't have the opportunity to go to school usually make school their priority. Students who don't have the opportunity to go to
school think this way because they want the opportunities they think they could have with a college education. I am deciding to argue about this topic
because I grew up in a household that didn't grow up with parents who stressed college, as a result, I am making a strong effort to get through college.
Although college does have some disadvantages, going to college is worth the time and money because it provides critical thinking and opportunities
for job advancement.
Getting college education is worth the time and money because it enhances the chances for individuals to become better critical thinkers. Not only is
money at stake, but an opportunity to learn how to think critically is as well. Going to college has comprehensive benefits, becoming a better critical
thinker as well as being able to demonstrate those skills through any career. Becoming a good critical thinker really has

Is College Worth It? Many high school students all think the same question. Is college worth the money and time? People can be more successful
with a college degree if they use it the right way. With a degree there is a higher percentage of getting a more premier job. In the long run, college is
worth it because most jobs pay more for people with a degree, the amount of jobs available are more broad, and college graduates tend to live a
healthier life. College graduates tend to make more money than high school graduates. According to the Economic Policy Institute, "College
graduates, on average, earned 56% more than high school grads in 2015" (Pay Gap Between...). Although, this stat might not be for everyone it is
for the majority of people. Jobs tend to pay higher if the person has a college degree than if one did not. To be successful people might have to
spend money to make money. If someone spends thousands for college for 4 plus years, but in return they are making 56% more money than a high
school graduate in the long run it will be worth it. They will have a lot of debt and student loans to pay, but once they pay it off they will start
catching up to high school graduate in profit quickly. Many jobs would rather have someone with a college degree than one with just a high school
diploma. The stats prove that people tend to make more later on than someone who goes straight into the workforce. College graduates are getting most
of the jobs available on the market.

As senior get to ready reach towards the end of their high school journey, many question what their future holds. Some already know college is for
them, but not everyone does. Is college the path they really should go to? Is college worth it? College is imperative because students expand their

degree is the key to realizing the American dream, well worth the financial sacrifice because it is supposed to open the door to a world of
opportunity" (Rather). Although many argue that college is too expensive and not worth the sacrifice, it is indeed an essential sacrifice to help in
one's life for a better future. Former President Obama explained, "Education helps us be better people. It helps us be better citizens. You came to
college to learn about the world and to engage with new ideas and to discover the things you're passionate about –– and maybe have a little fun. And to
expand your horizons. That's terrific –– that's a huge part of what college has to offer" (Obama). College is worth it because a college degree can lead

By the 1700 the cost of "tuition is up to about 10 shillings per quarter, which amounted to the cost of about a pair of shoes and two pairs of stockings"
(Anderberg, 2016). But the question still remained why did the people of this time think that college was not worth it? Well to answer this question it
just was not the practical thing to do. At this time the men were needed to help maintain the family farm. If you were attending classes, this affected
the family income. So the cost of school was just not worth it when you relied on the young men to look after the family business.
By the 1900s things were looking up for college goers. College sought out to include women, blacks, and immigrants. But of course there were still
restrictions for these minorities. Stated in an online article, "Black colleges remained restricted to grade–school and agricultural– or industrial–focused
instruction with little college–level education offered. In addition to that women remained segregated and were expected to study "domestic science"
or similar topics" (Background of the Issue, n.d.). Still at this time the goal was still not to obtain a college degree because people still had the notion
that there was no point in getting a four year degree. At this time in the 1900s you could still have a successful life without one as well. By the
mid–1900s colleges saw a major rise in student enrollments this time period fell between

College Is Worth It?
College is a place where students learn what they want to be when they graduate and they use that knowledge they obtained from college to fulfill
their dream by what they have studied, so hard for in college. Some people ask, "Is College worth it?" and the answer to that question is, "Yes." A lot
of people continue to disagree with that answer, but when it's all said and done: college is worth it. That is why, there is still students that enroll into a
4–year college or a community college because they want to become successful in life which is the reason why they feel that college is worth it.
First, there are some students that disagree on college being worth it because of the cost of tuition that is, so high. They feel that college is far too
expensive to even attend, so they just look for a job, instead because they feel that they're wasting time and money. But, what they don't know is, that
there are other colleges out there that have much cheaper tuition to pay. According to Louis Menand, "Public Colleges are much less expensive–the
average tuition is $7,605–and there are also many less selective private colleges where you can get a good education, and a lot more faculty face time,
without having to spend every minute of high school sucking up to your teachers and reformatting your resume" (Live And Learn). Also, there are
people that say they don't have the money after they graduate from high school to get into college, which then, they can apply for financial

Intro
Whether you are from the smallest, roughest high school in the U.S. or the largest, wealthiest high school, you have at some point been talked to about
furthering your education. America is notorious for pressuring its youth to attend four–year universities and graduating college to become successful.
While some of Americas' young adults might follow blindly into this "social norm," others will question its logic or even decide that it is not for them.
When it really comes down to it, everyone has one question. Is college worth it? I have searched high and low for the correct answer, but with so
many factors included it can be hard to ultimately say yes or no. After all not everyone is the same person and not each person fits the same path.
What I did find is that everyone has a decision and that they need to find the right path for them. After concluding my research I have come to my
answer regarding the question at hand. Although a college degree is very expensive, it is worth the sacrifice of time and money for young adults to
earn their degree today if they do it for the right reasons.
Background
At its very root a college education is an opportunity for young adults to further their education through critical thinking about a career field of their
choice. Originally college was a way to separate the work force. When students graduated from high school they could join the labor force or continue
education at a university. While most of these students' families

Is College Worth It?Is college worth it? This one question turns into this debate high school seniors begin to think about before graduating. In our
society you cannot really say no to college education because many make it known as a necessity to be successful in life. Many of our parents have
raised us to know that college is a must go and that there are no failures. However some may think different. A lot of people may think that not setting
a foot in a university or community college does not make them successful and that they will do just fine without a degree towards a career. We all
know once someone graduates they are not always guaranteed a successful life with well–paid career and awesome benefits for you and your family.
There are different views from both sides of this debate. There are people who became successful in life that did not go to college and earn the fancy
degrees that many can point out. Some may use this to their advantage and say that they become just like them, such as Michael Dell. He is the
co–founder and CEO of the Dell incorporation. He started that company in his dorm room but dropped out of college at the age of 19.That was his
first year attending college. Also another successful person that is well known is Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg is the founder of Facebook and
is the 400th richest American. He developed Facebook one year on summer vacation after borrowing money from Paypal's co–founder Peter Theil; in

Are Colleges Worth The Cost Of College
Attending college after high–school is a choice everybody has to make. However, colleges can be very expensive to attend. The decision to go to
college hangs mostly on one question: Is college worth the cost? Many people evaluate the cost of college by equating it to things such as family
tradition and whether or not they need it for their career. To some people, college is a stumbling block, but to others, it is the key to their future. To
begin, college has many benefits, despite the cost. College teaches students more than "book smarts," but also teaches life skills. Liberal Arts

Worth The Cost Of College
As young adults graduate from high school, they wonder whether they should pursue a higher education or not. The debate on the cost of college and
its worth has been a highly discussed topic for decades. Most kids most likely won't attend college because they claim it's too expensive and it's not
worth the cost. But college is more than just a building with an expensive price tag that people attend, it's an experience, it's a segue to personal and
financial prosperity. The big bulk of the 'is college worth the cost' argument is the cost itself. A majority of Americans–75%– says college is too
expensive to afford (Source F). In addition to the infamous debt student are left with after loans appended to the original cost just might want to

College Is Worth

  • 1. College Is Worth Is it Worth It? In every news article or advertisement about college you notice that the benefits of college are a "stable" job, a very successful life and a whole lot of money. But are those the only benefits of college? No, of course not. College is about the experience and what you gain from it while you are still there. However, the price to attend college can be impractical. First day of the semester, a student walks in pottery class and notices that he hates it. The clay is too sticky and making pots is just not his thing. This is an example of self–discovery, in which college allows you to do. College gives you time to see what you are or are not interested in. As well as searching and learning new things about who you are. Do you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Is College Worth It Essay When college pops up in the mind of a high school graduate they sometimes ask themselves, is it really worth it . Well the answer is yes! College is very much worth it. Many times people have debated on wether to go to college or just stay as a high school graduate. But i'm here to prove that college is worth it because you get paid more, earn responsibility, and you get health insurance and retirement plans. First, college is more valuable because you get paid more. According to "Pro&Con Arguments" it states, " on average, a college graduate with a bachelor degree earned $30,000 more per year than a high school graduate, over $500,000 more over an year." This shows that high school graduates don't make a lot of money, that's why it's important to get an education and money. Getting an education gets you money and it's important to go to college because if you don't go to college you are more likely to never gain responsibility for anything you do in life. Most people agree with going to college to make money but others just think that college is just a waste and you only go there to go to school but actually going to college gets you in the idea of making your own decisions and also taking responsibility for many things.Which takes me to my next reason why ... Kids who go to college also end up learning about maturity and thinking about their future. People also believe that without going to college and gaining responsibility, kids become sloppy and irresponsible and would never think about the future and would most likely almost procrastinate everything in their everyday ... • 3. Is College Worth It? Generations of Americans have used college as a ticket to a better future, not just in terms of money, but also in terms of a higher quality of life. That could mean jobs, security, greater social mobility, or the ability to afford big things like a house. So the big question is "will college be worth it?" First of all, college is just a great thing to experience you learn more, and you're more educated about what you really want to do so you don't walk into your job not knowing what the hell you're doing because that's just embarrassing, another reason that college helps is their are higher job opportunities and it would be more likely that you would get the job if you went to college compared to you trying to apply and you haven't gone ... • 4. Is College Worth It Is College Worth It? Society today is often very pressuring towards young adults when it comes to attending college. Maybe it's because it is the most appropriate idea for people. College provides the average human with a higher satisfaction of life due to the experience and the positives outcomes than that of someone who chooses not to go to college. Although college results in the possibility of debt afterwards, it is still worth the journey. College provides a person with an opportunity to improve oneself. By having the freedom to enjoy and interact with people from different social backgrounds, economic classes and views in life, one develops maturity and social skills that will help later in life. Interaction with these diverse groups of people allows one to develop social skills that will take someone further in life than being around homogenous people your whole life. According to Miller,"the latest estimates of average student debt are $29,400" (qtd in Elliot). When people see the debt from college students they automatically assume college wasn't worth it. But some are not aware of the possibilities of scholarships, and grants that are available. Some of these a philanthropies do require high grades and hard work, but how else will you survive college? There are opportunities available to help pay for college. In a statement by Campaign and Hossler,"student loans may help facilitate middle– and upper–income white students' ability to attend more expensive four–year college then they could otherwise afford" (qtd in Elliot). This proves if one researches and tries to look for scholarships and grants, help can be offered to cut your college costs and prevent a massive debt from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Is College Worth It Is College Really Worth It? Millennials struggle with the decision whether to go to a four–year or two–year college or to even attend college at all. Though the question that is asked repetitively is whether "college is really worth it?" There are some really good benefits that college can teach you such as, knowledge, credibility, social networking, independence, and budgeting. But there are a lot of skills that college doesn't teach you. Jeffery Selingo in "Why Are So Many College Students Failing to Gain Job Skills before Graduation," explains the different skills that college graduates never learned during their four–years in college. In my family not attending college was not an option given to us, everyone in my family went to college and graduated. Since I was young I knew that I wanted to do something in the medical field, which required me to go to college. I didn't know what I wanted to do for the longest time but then I realized that I love to work with children of all ages and from that point I knew that I wanted to be a pediatric doctor or a pediatric surgeon. Physicians and surgeons are among the highest paying jobs. According to the "Bureau of Labor Statistics", physicians and surgeons make about $187,200 per year which is $90.00 per hour (BLS). Going to college is very beneficial to society because it helps the country run smoother. Some reasons people believe everyone should attend college are that college graduates tend to make more income than a non–college attendee, more companies and businesses require you to have a degree to your name to work for them, and you are more likely to have a better health care insurance and retirement plan. But others tend to feel like college is not isn't worth the time of day. Others who believe in not attending colleges usually have reasons like it takes too long to pay off your student loans and debt, recent college graduates are underemployed or struggle to find work, and many students who attend colleges and universities tend to drop out and wastes their own and government money. • 7. Is A College Education Worth It? In today's society, the idea of receiving a college education has been pondered quite a bit as to whether or not it is actually worth it. According to Michelle Adam, many people "...today believe that getting a good education is key to success in our society, this revealed surprising issues that challenge the notion of higher education being worth its price tag" (59). Naturally, many high school graduates apply for college right before or after graduation. Others decide to go into the work force, armed forces, or simply remain unemployed. The question that many people debate about is, is a college education worth it in the long run? Though some people believe a college education will benefit ones' career, others believe it will cause a mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A college education isn't meant to make people become rich, but to help them fulfill their interests within a career with the long term benefits of receiving a degree. "People who argue that college is worth it contend that college graduates have higher employment rates, bigger salaries, and more work benefits than high school graduates (ProCon.org)." So, it seems that college is worth more than just graduating from high school with a diploma and entering the work force. If you think about it, many people don't attend college or continue due to the high costs of tuition, books, and room & board. I agree with Dr. Ricardo Azziz that "...we must focus on educating those without a college degree on its value, and foster access and retention so that those who want to attend college can attend –– and finish (Azziz)." It's understandable that people fear debt and becoming burdened with loans, but an education is well worth the long term benefits. A college education is especially useful for when the economy is not doing well. Clearly, New Data Say' by David Leonhardt, Sometimes, not often, society tells us that College is not worth our time or money, But receiving a college degree will bring what you learned in the classroom into the real world, which benefit you on your quest to success. The education system has always been a major element in todays society. As kaufman states in her article, "Yes, college is worth it, and it's not even close. For all the struggles that many young college graduates face, a four–year degree has probably never been more valuable." In today's studies, it has shown that the pay gap between college grads compared to others has reached a high point, with college students making 98 percent more an hour, which has increased from 89 percent five years ago. If more high school students planned on going to college and graduating the pay for these students would decrease. As many teenagers do not choose to face the challenge of college, the pay for those who do graduate increased. Not too many years ago, even high school was considered un–useful, but as todays economy continues to go up, the more school becomes valuable. Even thirteen years of education is not enough for todays standards, as it continues to become more of a "technology advanced" world the more years in college will be suggested to be "well–off", even not going to college can cost you, as New York Times article by Kaufman reads "Not going to college can cost you up to half a million dollars". Therefore, the fact of it all is the economy is going to force us to go to college so we can make a living and be considered to standard, and for this to be achieved 16 or more years of school will be necessary. There are tons of evidences suggest that it is a right choice to go to college, but there are also some evidences counter that idea, suggesting that going to college may not be the best choice. I agree with the former idea, and I believe that not only going to college is important, but also going to graduate school is preferable. • 18. The Importance Of College Is A College Worth It Every year, around 20.4 million students in the United States go to college. Most students enroll in their college or university without thinking of a simple question. Is all the hard work worth it? Personally, I have never given this question any serious consideration and the research I have done has opened my eyes. I attend classes along with over 5,000 students here at UNK, and I doubt many have had the opportunity to do the research and decide for themselves. As I began my research to answer the question, I noticed something that stood out to me. There are many more articles that say college is well worth it, than articles that say otherwise. I began with an article by Liz Weston of TIME. She provided statements and research on both side but ultimately swayed towards saying that a bachelors degree is worth more than a high school diploma. She situated the article based on "The reduced conviction among recent graduates is hardly surprising. Those grads emerged with more debt and poorer employment prospects due to a struggling economy. As the debt gets paid off and their earnings rise, they may have a change of heart". My parents told me growing up that they took college for granted when they graduated, but as they got older they realized the importance. My father told me recently that the company he works for tends to not hire people without college degrees because some of the requirements for promotions to higher positions require a bachelors or even a masters in ... As a high school student you may be thinking that you don't enjoy school or are asking yourself, "Why would I choose to go to even more school after completing 12 years of it?" Picture this, over the course or working 40 years someone with a high school diploma can make around $1,116,600 while someone with a bachelor's degree can make around $2,048,204.
