I don't get the education system. Science has proven, "the brain isn't fully functioning until 10 am." Studies have shown
how the pressure to get into college and to do well in school have caused mental illness such as depression and anxiety.
You don't learn stuff unless you have enough sleep but it's hard to do that when you have homework to do and tests to
study for. The brain needs a break in order to fully comprehend things however the brain can't do that if it's overwhelmed.
Many documentaries, books, and articles have stated how messed up the education system is and yet no one does anything

Reflection On How I Learn English
This semester, you helped me learn that English isn't just about writing, that it is about learning, too. You taught me how to

I deserve an extra ten points on my semester grade average because I need to pass to the twelve grade. Ten points will be a
big help to my grade. Students all over Roosevelt High school would gladly accept an extra ten points.
The grading system was made, for student to pass or fail. This, of course, is absurd. What we need is a system that do not
judge a student work. Put your all in your work just to see a teacher put a failing grade on your work. When student fail
some dropout of school, and become another negative static. How would you feel if someone you knew personnel, dropout
school because they felt like was just getting harder everyday? Do you want to see your students succeed, and become

The subject was civics and history has never been a hard concept for me to grasp since it is a pretty straight forward facts. I
studied for that test for almost two hours. When I got the test I read the question and I realized that I did not know any of

The school system of the US is contrary to what most americans would say about the US. According to a global report by
education firm Pearson, the US education claims 17th place in the developed world with Finland, South Korea, Hong
Kong, Japan, & Singapore topping the list. Finland (Being it's innovative self) decided to rebuild its education to better
prepare its students for the world. Because of this, Finland constantly ranks one of the highest performing developed

The first time I was exposed to the term standardized testing was when I was in elementary school. I took my first
standardized test in the third grade and little did I know that one test would be accompanied by more tests in years to come.

The typical tests that you and I are used to consist of multiple choice sections. In some cases, there can be written portions,
which have to be scored by an actual person, unlike the multiple–choice part, which is checked by a computer. Personally, I
never questioned who was grading my paper on parts like this. I just assumed that highly educated people who knew what

John Dewey once said "Education is not preparation for life; Education is life itself." Meaning that learning is an active
process that should occur to enhance one 's living and understanding thereof. When one only views education as a
temporary thing they miss the big picture , and fail to grasp the what life truly is. Paulo Freire believes in having the
opportunity to discover for oneself all that the world has to offer with the slight guidance from a teacher. He also says that
"Education must begin with the solution of the teacher–student contradiction, by recoiling the poles of the contradiction so
that both are simultaneously teachers and students." Freire introduces the idea that we can and should all learn from each
other, that no one person is ever higher in the world of education. We all have a unique perspective and take on things, and
teachers should allow us to discover and interpret for ourselves.
Opposed to Freire 's view is the opinion that teachers should teach and students should simply absorb what they are being
told. They should listen and soak up as much knowledge as possible but not question what they are learning. Many times
teachers are able to get through more material this way, and some would argue this makes us smarter as students. I myself
