Dear friends,
A week from now, I will be 51 years old.
I would like to make a big exception and ask all of you, for a birthday present.
The present will not cost you one red cent, but it’s worth gold, to me.
During the last years, I spent many hours and days thinking about our world.
I guess all of you did the same, at one point or another. Well, one day, I gave birth to a TED style presentation/lecture that deals with what I regard as the most burning issue of our time (in my mind) :
Global injustice
It was about three years ago, that the presentation came to life, with the help of a dear family member, who took upon herself to take what I wrote and the pics I choose and make the whole thing look descent.
All the stuff in the presentation is taken off the internet, it’s all out there in the open for everyone to see.
All I did was rearrange it, shake it and add some spices of my own.
the result is attached here. You’ll find the presentation and its text.
I showed this “baby” to about 25 people, so far.
Feedback ranges from “wow! this is incredible!” to “blockbuster just called, you must return the movie you live in….”
I sent the presentation to TED. They said thank you, we’ll contact you whenever….
This means they might call me but it also means they might not…
The presentation calls for, no less- a revolution!
And my goal is to start a revolution.
So, what about my birthday present?
I ask that you each give me 18 minutes of your time…I know…that’s a big present!
18 minutes is the time it will take you, to read this and decide whether this is total BS or if you actually like it and think it might work!
If you think it might work, please please – Share it like crazy!!
That is the most beautiful present you can ever give me. The presentation is named- Change the world now, and maybe, maybe, with your help, we could start the revolution!
I thank you so much.
Amir
Hi there everyone (text for change the world) 2016
1. Hi there everyone,
My name is Amir Milo and I am here today to change the world, no less.
Yes, In the next 20 minutes, with your help, I believe we can change the world.
So, with no further ado, let's get to it!
When I was growing up my heroes were superman and mighty mouse. I think it's because
they both wanted to save the world and both had such grace doing it.
Today with my heroes and your help, I believe we can change the world!
Let's first talk about the chain of events…
Some 14 b years ago- bang! Lots of lights and lots of noise and the universe appeared
4.5 b years ago our planet, planet earth, got its shape
And then, we the human race, appeared on earth, some say by act of god and some say we
evolved from a money, it really doesn’t matter.
Human's diet was mainly fruits- figs, grapes and grains of all sorts.
And then humans discovered meat. First they eat carcasses but soon humans learned to
hunt for themselves.
Then something wonderful happens- our brain grows from 400cc in size to a 1000 cc.
That ignites a lot of thinking…and we humans think many thoughts.
But there is a problem…there is no language to express those new thoughts...
So we humans invented language, and the first thought to cross our minds was:
Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much=team work
And we looked at the lions and realized they hunt using team work and therefore get lots of
meat. And soon we did the same and guess what? We got a lot of meat too!
All that meat, plus fruits makes our brain work hard and we come up with great ideas like
religions and god. This will be a good time to say that this talk is not about religions. All
religions are great. This talk is about something entirely different.
So after inventing religion and god, man obviously wanted to fly and meet god.
And soon enough we landed on the moon.
We rock!
Our brain keeps rolling and we invent technology and in fact we duplicate the social
behavior we practiced so many years ago, we create a global village in which we work
together to make things better- we leave each other feedbacks on ebay, we share our life on
2. Facebook and receive likes from our friends, we group up to talk on WhatsApp and so on
and so forth.
We live in Pleasantville!!
But something stinks..Can you smell it?
First, it was the artists- they told us that it’s a wild world out there and it's a land of
confusion and that half the world hates the other half..
One artist even claimed we need to heal the world.
Do you know what I am talking about?
Justice or rather - injustice.
Here are some troubling facts- 4 b people earn $3000 a year - they are what is known as the
BOP- bottom of the pyramid. The next 2 b make between $3000 to $20,000 a year these
people are the weight carriers – they carry the weight and struggle to make ends meet every
month.
Around half a billion make 20,000 $ and up a year and they get by o.k. some of them make
ten times that and some make 100 times that, a year, they are also doing fine…
Btw, almost 3 b make 2 dollars a day which is about 60 dollars a month or 700 dollars a year.
3 billion people. Think about that for a second.
This reality paints an ugly picture of a world that might have been, so wonderful, in a blue
sky world.
Here are some facts - every 3.6 seconds a person dies of hunger, almost 1 b people can't
read or write, nearly 10 million children are slaves worldwide and list goes on. I don't want
to depress you, so I'll stop here; I think the point is clear.
Democracy is rare, see the green color? That's where democracy is being practiced.
Even in USA, one of the world's most respected democracies, 1% of the people owns almost
50% of the wealth.
If I had to pick one picture to show what is going on in the world right now, it would be this
one:
This is in Brazil, on one side you have those who have pools and tennis courts and on the
other side the rotting small shacks people live in.
This brings some of the effects we all see in the news- uprisings everywhere, refugees, heavy
immigration rates and 9/11.
3. I argue that 9/11 isn't about terror per say, I argue 9/11 isn't about Islam. Islam is a religion,
and as such can't hurt anyone. Its some fanatics that use Islam as an excuse for their terror
and violence.
I think all these are symptoms of a bigger decease called:
Injustice
You see, the world operates according to a simple law most of us learned in school-
The law of communicating vessels
This simple physics law says the water always want to level up .this world, today, is a
communicating vessel, it’s a global village and the water will try and level up no matter
what we do.
It's already happening!
Our pot is boiling!
So you may say- this is not my monkey, I live a good life, I am ok, he is talking about
somewhere out there far and away from me…
Well, no.
We may have come…
Let me explain this with what a call the shark syndrome- the shark, one of nature's finest
survivors always threats several fish around him, and usually wins. But the shark never
threats the ocean it swims in and certainly not the next ocean or the entire world!
With us being a global village that changes. Some of us human beings are dangerous sharks
with a potential power and motivation, mind you, to threat the world.
The next 9/11 won't be two buildings and thousands of innocent lives!
It will be millions of lives and economies destroyed and that ladies and gentleman- we can
prevent. Today!!
Yes, us, right here.
In 2012 the world spent 1.7 trillion dollars on war. It is estimated 135 b can end poverty
worldwide. Let's say that 135 b is wrong. Let's say the mistake is by 100% 200% 300%
1000%?
If we as a society choose not to fight each other and widen the circle of hate and in justice,
just in 2012, we could have ended poverty.
Can you imagine that?
Standing here in front of you today, I have no choice but to call for a revolution!
4. Revolutions make a change! A few heads chopped, a few guns shout and the game changes!
But look at me; do I look like the geek that will preach to violence?
Don’t answer that…
I call for a gentle revolution.
Who's going to do it?
The current leaders of the world? Judging by their last tests…they all get F.
So, who's going to do it?
US! Yes ladies and gentleman US!
We, all of us live in a country without borders, without land, the biggest country in the world
called - social platform
We are 4.5 billion strong! Yet we are not working together and therefore we are not strong
as we can be!!
We can be the most powerful force on earth. Easy.
So I am here today, to tell you and remind all of us, that:
Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much
And here comes my childhood hero, to save the day!
Only today, the mighty mouse is the real mouse, the one we all have at home, and that
means folks that we, all of us are the true mighty mouse!
Want a simple prove?
What do you know about Korean pop music? What are the trends in Korean music now?
What's hip? What is going down?
No idea?
Well, I am happy to tell you the number one most watched clip on you tube is
Gangnam style by an unknown, until not long ago, Korean singer called PSY.
Yes. A Korean song, sang by a Korean pop singer, in the Korean language is the number one
watched clip of all times. Why? Because we made it number one. Us.
(just so I'll know you are all with me, can we all shout "Hopa Gangnam style" please? 3 2 1
Thank you.
5. Do you realize how powerful we are? When we work together?
So what we need to do to change the world?
2 things.
One- share this talk like crazy in any way shape or form in your social network.
Why? Because people understand ratings. Once we are 2 billion strong, no one will be able
to ignore us.
Just like on one could ignore the great Korean song.
If you think what I presented make sense, please share it- we have a tremendous power!!
Two- in that social platform country there are kings; you can see some of them here.
Sharing this talk will bring us to the attention of the kings. We need that one king, just one,
will look at this talk and say:
Yes, I want to help change the injustice. Because it's right because it's the right thing to do
and because I understand that this state of in justice is a threat to me as well.
We are all in the same boat, now.
Imagine two kings liking this, three? Imagine them working together to make a real change!
And maybe we will have some justice for all.
John Rowels , one of the important political philosopher of our times said:
The test of our progress….
Final words-
I have three kids, and every time I look at them I see on their foreheads an imaginary
question:
What's the plan, dad?
Well, my dears, this is my plan- for all our kids…
Please make some noise! Please share this!
Thank you.
