_The flap selector lever is installed with a micro switches / this microswitches are activated by an Electrical power from a 28 volt dc bus bar.
_Eletrical power from the microswitches flow into flap position indicator to indicate the flap position then goes into a 28 volt dc fully reversible electrical motor.
_A screw jack fitted in the electrical motor gear box operates to move a push rod. The push rod moves a quadrant
_The two quadrant which are moved or rotated by a thick preformed control cable that utilizes a turnbuckle to tension the cable
_push rod fitted on the quadrant move the port and starboard flaps
_The electrically operated flaps are found on small a/c that has a single plain flap, split flap or fowler flap.
The switches in the circuit are shown with the flaps in the up position. To select the flaps down, the pilot moves the selector lever down, the cam operating the flap down moves the switch to the other position. Power now flows through the circuit breaker, through the down limit switch and the flap down switch to the motor. The circuit from the motor to earth is completed through the up limit switch and the flap up switch.

When the flaps reach the full down selection, the actuator trips the down limit switch, which isolates the motor from the power and earths both sides of the motor. If the pilot had made a partial down selection, then the flap travel would have been stopped by the flap down switch on the follow-up mechanism. In either case the motor is earthed at both sides in order to provide a quick stop. When an up selection is made, the cam operates the flap up switch and the sequence of events is reversed.
More trailing edge flaps are required for the a/c to take off and land at various length of the runway (STOL)
