2. The title sequence for the film begins with the background of a building and a
party hat attached to a tree. In the background snow can be seen which alludes
to what season the film is set in. The snow is also a common connotation of
romantic comedy films. The first part of the title sequence introduces the
companies that created the film. This is the most common way to introduce a film,
this then leads into the rest of the title sequence.
3. A similar background is used to then introduce which company produced the film, this will sometimes also
allude to what genre the film will be as some production companies will produce the same genre of film.
The camera then tilts upwards to the top of the building and then the scene cuts away to the main
character. Although the audience have already been introduced to the main character this will be the first
time the name of the actress will be revealed in the film.
As well as introducing the main character whilst showing her, two other
names appear on screen whilst still showing the main female character. As
these two actors are already well established in the film industry the
characters do not need to be introduced to the audience at the current time.
Whilst the actors names are appearing on screen an establishing shot is
shown, it introduces Bridget’s home as well as showing what she is
currently doing this alludes to the storyline.
4. This is the first time the title of the film is revealed on screen. The font is block capitals in
order to make the audience immediately see the title of the film.
5. FONT
The font of the title sequence looks like writing which adheres to the
genre as well as the name of the film ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’. The
writing almost looks as if Bridget has been writing the actors names.
SOUNDThe sound used in the title sequence is diegetic sound. We know this as the main
character is lip-synching and dancing to the song playing. The song is All By Myself by
Celine Dion and meets the purpose of the film, which is about Bridget Jones finding
her lover and picking between two different men which her aim in life is not being
alone.
