The document summarizes and compares the title sequences of three films: Skyfall, Se7en, and The Sixth Sense. For Skyfall, the title sequence emphasizes James Bond and M as iconic characters by listing Daniel Craig and Judi Dench's roles before the film title. Se7en highlights the big name stars Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman before the title. The Sixth Sense follows a similar pattern of listing main actors before the title to emphasize their importance. The sequences also vary in the number of credited actors and crew, possibly due to differences in budget or role requirements. All three sequences list the production companies, producers, executive producers, and distributors involved in making the films.

Film Title Sequence Conventions Reveal Importance of Actors, Characters
1. Title Sequence Conventions
The three films I’ve chosen are ‘Skyfall’, ‘The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Se7en’. They all show very
different styles of credits, while still maintaining a very effective method of fitting the genre.
Skyfall
As you would expect with any film, the production company comes before the name of the
film when it comes to credit order; However the next piece of information we’re given is the
Daniel Craig is playing the role of ‘Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007’, then we’re told the title of
the film.
This is suggesting that the character of James Bond is more iconic than the film itself,
therefore deserves prior mention as it’s more important who’s playing the role of the
character. We are then shown the list of actors who are starring charcters, and each is given
their own screen but not who they’ll be playing. Unitl we see Judie Dench will be playing M.
Like James Bond, M is a very iconic part of the James Bond series, and seeing who will be
playing her is quite important to the nature of the film. We see ten actor’s names and fifty
2. crew’s names, the last of which being director Sam Mendes. Skyfall was produced by
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Executively produced by CallumMcDougall and
Anthony Waye and distributed by Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
Se7en
The first thing we see is the production company, followed by the producer Arnold
Kopelson, and ‘a film by David Fincher’. We then see the names of two very big actors which
could be called household names, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. After which the name of
the film is displayed, showing that the two actors are quite important in the grand scheme
of things compared to the filmitself. There are a total of seventeen actor’s names shown,
with the main actors shown with their own screen such as Gwyneth Paltrow, but more
minor actors shown in groups of three.
3. Also a total of 20 crew are named, all in relatively quick succession with David Fincher being
the last name shown as the director. Se7en was produced by Arnold Kopelson, executively
produced by Gianni Nunnari, Dan Kolsrud and Anne Kopelson and distributed by New Line
Cinema.
The Sixth Sense
Much like the otherfilmsI’ve beenlookingat,The SixthSense followsthe patternof showingthe
mainactors/actressesnamesbefore the name of the filmitself.Thisisagaintosignifythe bignature
of the actor inthis film, andtorecognise theyhave averytalentedpersonstarringintheirfilm.
Throughoutthe course of the openingcreditswe see atotal of nine actor’snames, whichis
considerablylessthanthe othertwoexamples.Thiscouldbe due tothe filmhavinga lowerbudget,
or simplythe extraactorsweren’tneeded. We alsosee atotal of elevencrew membersnames
whichsuggeststhe same thattheyeither don’thave the fundingorthe needforthe extrapeople.
