Golf Greatest Failure
The greatest failure and growing experience of my life has to be the falling out of my golf career. I
was once one of the top ranked ranked junior golfers in the world with the burning desire to be a
professional golfer. I had the competitive edge that not many kids had my age and it helped me for
years. I was the number one ranked player in North Carolina, I was trying to qualify for PGA tour
events at the age of 15, and I also was talking with big SEC and ACC schools. My whole life
revolved around golf and I couldn't wait to see what my future held. Then I broke my right hand at
the age of 16 which put my game at a standstill. The stress of not being able to play golf and
colleges slowly dropping me off their radar caused me to get some of ... Show more content on

Even after my hand healed fully, I was never the same on the golf course. My head would spin when
I played and my attitude was terrible. If the person reading this essay has ever had the yips in golf,
they know its the WORST thing in the world. I ended up quitting golf for about a year because of
my frustration at the game and all with all my friends that I was previously better than were getting
D1 scholarships made me want to play again. I recently have picked up the game again and
everything is back to normal, which is the biggest relief of my life. I don't have those weird thoughts
I had during Accutane and I am playing with no fear like the good ole' days. Even though my golf
game brought great disappointment, I have recovered it and with my new approach towards the
game I can't wait to see the success I will have in the future with it. One of my favorite quotes is
"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater
benefit." – Napoleon Hill, which means that with failure comes prosperity. I am at the moment
trying to get back to the playing level that I used to be at but am glad to have went through this

application operation costs by moving to cloud computing. As the data and information stored is
small and also most of the hardware or applications are leased or bought from outside it is
expensive. If it moved to cloud computing it can save lot of money and reduce operations on the

Stepping up on the tee box of the 72nd hole with the lead in a major championship with fans
following every step. Striping your tee ball down the middle of the fairway, hitting an iron shot right
beside a tucked, tough Sunday pin, with fans roaring at the green with a putt to win. This is what
anyone who has ever stepped on the green grass of a golf course dreams about. However, it is likely,
in some way or another that, that dream will never come true. Only about one percent of all people
who play golf will have that opportunity, but golfers understand this, and realize there is much more
to the game than that. Every kid, or even adult, will pretend once in a while to have a putt too "win

Is Golf A Sport
To begin with, a lot of people these days argue about if golf is a sport or not. If you look up the word
sport in dictionaries golf meets that definition. Golf also burns off a lot of calories while playing the
sport. If golf wasn't a sport than why should other things be called a sport. Golf is part of the sports
category because it requires muscles and physical exertion, you compete against other players, and it
has everything that other sports have.
First of all, golf is a sport because it requires muscles use and physical exertion. When you take a
swing in golf you use at least 17 muscles through your body. " the average golfer will walk up to

The Tradition Of Golf And Golf Essay
Tradition of Golf
For years, golf has been one of the oldest and most traditional sports. As the equipment and golf
courses have changed, the etiquette and rules have not. In golf, etiquette has been a major part of the
game. Staying quiet on the course and repairing divots are a few examples of proper formality.
Common rules include teeing the ball between the tee markers and marking your ball on the green.
Along with these guidelines, there are rules that are controversial and seem unfair to golfers.
Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the
fewest strokes won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options
for clubs has increased as well. They have gone from wooden drivers to drivers made of complex
blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all
been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game fairer.
As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and
frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the
game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the
rules in the game of golf. I've also discovered that the game will most likely stay the same and not
change any of the rule. A big part of the game is knowing that you're going to catch bad

Golf Governing Bodies To Limit Golf Technology Advances
Is it right for the golf governing bodies to limit golf technology advances?
If an athlete who plays a competitive sport is asked if they would like to improve in their sport, the
answer will always be yes. There is not one athlete that is satisfied with their current ability and they
are constantly working toward the idea of "better". In Roslyn Kerr's Sport and Technology: An
actor–network theory, she states, "there is an undisputed link between the goal of sport and that of
scientists, with both groups searching for greater human achievement. In sport, this is often achieved
through improving and enhancing already existing equipment and technology" (2016). Kerr goes on
to state that one would think that these technological advancements would be ... Show more content

Does anyone in their right mind think that modern tennis has changed too much? Do people believe
Rafael Nadal is serving at too high a ball speed or that tennis superstar Serena Williams needs to go
back to the wooden racket? Those questions are unreasonable in the context of tennis, yet for golf
that mindset resides within the governing body. The counter argument of fair play does not have
merit in this debate because everyone can have access to the newest club or ball technology in golf.
The game of golf for the amateur is played by the same rules as it is by the professional. Limiting
the technological advances is simply done to prevent golfers from getting too good. However, since
this is a sport that can be said to be one of the hardest sports to master, it is hard to imagine why the
governing body is actively trying to limit the abilities of its players. It can be argued that the USGA
doesn't want another record broken. It seems to the average golfer that the new rules they are
implementing are designed so that shooting 59 doesn't become the norm or shooting 54 remains as
an impossible task for tour

Essay On Girls Golf
The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil offered golf as a competitive sport for the first
time since the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. Both men and women were allowed
to compete.
As golf continues to make advances in the world, Steilacoom High School follows in pursuit. While
boys golf has had an established team at Steilacoom for the last decade, the same cannot be said for
girls golf. However, the new school year brings new change, and with that, a newly established girls
golf team.
Prior to the 2015–2016 school year, Steilacoom had a small girls golf team comprised of six or more
girls. As those girls graduated, they left an unmotivated and uninspired group in their wake. When
the 2015–2016 school year came around, there were not enough girls willing to try out to even form

Despite a surge of interest in girls golf, many students are still hesitant to try out. Sophomore Olivia
Woo said, "I don't know enough about golf. Even if i wanted to try out, I probably wouldn't, since
the only experience I have is Wii Golf." Most girls had similar responses. Their lack of knowledge
about golf keeps them from pursuing the sport.
Another reason many high school girls are shying away is the fact that girls golf is not a big,
established team. Unlike the camaraderie in soccer or volleyball, the girls golf team is quiet and
relatively unknown. Sophomore Yun Yung Jeonge said, "I feel like the team aspect is not there. It is
more of an individual sport. I don't know much about it, but it doesn't sound much

The Perfect Golf Swing
The Perfect Golf Swing
As a young caddie running up and down the course, I saw my uncle slamming the ground with a
golf club. I always found him so angry, playing the game of golf. I stopped running and watched
him play; I studied his body as he elegantly swung the club through the air. Sweat dripping from his
nose, his shirt soaked completely through. I watched him for hours that day, and I would watch him
over and over again, trying to find that perfect swing. The perfect golf swing is said to be
unattainable to many in the golfing world. I spent my childhood on a golf course being a caddy for
my uncle. I cannot inform you on the perfect golf swing because I never witnessed it, although I can

It is not as easy as it may look; there are a few tips to remember. The key to turning over your hands
is to return them to the beginning position when impact with the ball occurs. The motion of turning
your hands over is what keeps the ball straight and aimed at the target. All that is remaining is to
watch the ball and hit it as hard as possible. If this is done properly, the golfer can hit the ball as hard
as he wants. After the hit the clubhead should end up behind the golfers head. The golfer should find
himself facing the target, with his left foot planted on the ground and his right toe is the only part
touching the ground. When all of these steps are done correctly, the golf swing is a beautiful sight.
With so many professionals on TV, it is easier to see what the swing should look like. There are
many great players to watch now such as Phil Mickelson, Davis Love, and let's not forget the most
popular player Tiger Woods. All of these players have what it takes to make the perfect golf swing.
At this time my uncle is sixty years old and his body just does not have what it takes to practice the
way he did when I was young. My uncle spends most of the day working at a country club, when he
gets the chance he will spend some time with me, instructing me on my golf swing and watching me
hit balls and correcting my faults. I find myself being the man he used to be cursing the game of golf
and slamming the golf

Golf 101 Golf Essay
Golf 101
Golf is the one of the hardest sports to play in the world, I know all you think golf is, is just hitting a
golf ball with a golf club, but it's not, it's way more difficult then that. Today, I will be teaching you
how to play one of the toughest games in the world, golf. I'm going to teach you what golf is, also
how to keep track of your golf score, and teach you the different type of golf shots and clubs.
Now I'm going to tell you what golf is. Golf is a sport that is played outside, not inside. There is a
small hard ball, which is white, but can be different colors, and it's called a golf ball. You use a golf
club to hit the golf ball. The whole point of golf is to get the golf ball into the hole, in the fewest
hits. On a regular golf course there's 18 holes, but sometimes you might find a golf course with 9
holes, and you just play the first 9 again.

According to Golfweek, the most popular golf shots are the drive, the approach, the chip, and the
putt. The driver is used to hit the drive, you usually use your driver on the tee off. The approach is
used with different kind of golf irons, it just depends on how far your out from the hole. The popular
approach irons are the 4,5,6,7,8, and sometimes the 9. The lower numbered irons are the irons you
can hit further, the higher numbered irons are the irons you can't hit as far as the lower irons. A chip
is a shot that is used around the green and the club to use is the pitching wedge. The pitching wedge
is used for the chip because it has a higher loft, meaning the ball can get really high, and have a lot
of spin. Finally, the putt, the putt is a shot where the ball is on the green, and you 're trying to roll the
ball into the cup. A putt is used with a putter, the putter is used because the putter doesn't make the
ball fly in the air, it makes it stay on the

Is Golf A Sport?
Is Golf a Sport? Many argue that golf is not a sport and some argue that it is in fact a sport. Golf
does not put any physical exertion on the body and walking and carrying the clubs around the course
burns more calories than actually golfing. All you need to master golf is practice and some skill. Just
because it is difficult, doesn't necessarily categorize it as a sport. Although golf meets the dictionary
definition of a sport, golfers ride a golf cart, have caddies carry their stuff, and most are simply out
of shape. Golf is more of a game rather than a sport and mostly a leisure activity. There are many
professional golfers who smoke while golfing, ultimately disqualifying it from a sport.

Here is the Zach Johnson swing analysis that you should take into account and apply it, in order to
play golf like a professional. The first detail that you will notice is that Johnson sets up with the golf
ball lined up significantly off the toe of the club. He does that partially due to his impact position.
Then, the next detail you need to look at is his often spoke about grip. You will see that he actually
grips the club in a particularly strong position. There are many people who would associate this
procedure with a leftward miss. However, there is one important thing that Zach constantly works
on, and that it is the fact that he matches his release up to this grip, and other positions up with how
he will actually release his club. As Johnson takes the club away from the golf ball, you will see that
the club face is in a slightly shut position. It is like that due to his exceptionally strong grip. He also
has very little lateral movement on both the backswing and follow through. It is highly
recommended to also have a close look at his head and his hips as well. You will notice that they

BALL GOLF AND DISC GOLF Sports, they have entertained people for a very long time now.
Whether it be playing the sport or simply watching it, sports can provide an exciting experience for
anyone who is interested in them (or not interested). There are a large variety of sports, some very
different from one another and some very similar. For instance, there are two different types of golf
that people play and are involved with. There is ball golf, which is usually referred to as "golf" and
disc golf, which is usually referred to as "Frisbee golf". Despite both sports being types of golf they
each have distinctive differences that make them two separate sports. No matter what sport it is,
equipment is essential in many sports and allows the participants to play the sport. The equipment
for ball golf and disc golf vary distinctively in many aspects. The name of both sports gives you an
idea of what equipment to use, ball golf uses a ball and clubs to hit the ball. On the other hand, disc
golf uses disc that you throw into the "hole". The target in which you try to get the object into varies,
as well. For ball golf the target is a hole made into the ground that you hit the ball into. Whereas in
disc golf you throw the disc into a basket that has chains around it, this basket is the "hole" and is
required equipment to be able to play disc golf. Since ball golf requires the player to hit a ball on the
ground a tee is used to elevate the ball off the ground so it is easier to

sport will enjoy the intriguing and magical beauty of the land around them, the golf course. Golf has
the ability of incorporating mother nature into the round. No two holes are the same. Each course
has different elevation, grass, style, geography, climate, yardage, par, green slopes, scenery, and

Mathematics of Golf: The Golf Ball and Golf Club Essay
Golf is an activity enjoyed by people of every age. Everything from the dimples on ball to the angle
of the club and the momentum of the swing to the layout of the course golf uses mathematics. Golf
has so many aspects that I could have used for this paper, but do to lack of time I choose to focus on
specifically the golf ball and golf club. These two items are essential for the game of golf and have
also changed the most. The golf ball is designed in a way that always it to float through the air with
the least amount of resistance. In the beginning of the game the golf ball used was smooth. As the

Different golf balls have different amounts of dimples and different depths of dimples that the
creators feel are the best combinations. It is important to note that different golf balls work for
different people. Some people that have a stronger arm may not want the least amount of drag on
their ball because it could go farther than they want. Others might want to have the least resistance
because they don't have the strongest swing. In every case it is up to the golfer to decide what golf
ball is going to work best for their golf game. The other most important item that you need on the
course is a golf club. The mathematics behind a golf club is shown just by the amount of different
clubs that are need in a given game. They're a thousands of different types of golf clubs that each are
designed in a why that changes the direction and distance of a golf ball. There are two major types
of clubs, a wood and an iron, in the old days they didn't have all these different clubs, but as golf has

A wood is a club with a large head. It is meant for driving the ball long distances with a single hit.
Often called your "driver" this club is one that should give you them most distance. The large head

Golf isn't really the game it was 20 years back. Golf is now much closer to "professional athlete"
status and today's golf enthusiasts understand that they need to do whatever they can to obtain an
edge which consists of consuming and drinking right–– specifically prior to and throughout a round.
With the very best food and beverage for golf a golfer can conserve 3–5 shots per round (a
minimum of) and this ebook will reveal ways to do it.
Golf is a special sport because one is expected to spend 4–5 hours playing it; which is a very long
time to be burning calories and engaging one's brain. It's not like most sports out there where one
plays intensively for an hour or two and responds actively to what's going on. Rather one has to
change their concentration on and off for (typically) 86 times per round and at the same time carry
out physical actions; which greatly depends upon how well one has gotten ready for it. To pick and
take the best shot, one has to line up properly, choose the right club, check out the greens and so on
and after that make a smooth swing and do this for 4–5 hours. This needs psychological sharpness
and physical energy that one will not have if they have not prepared their body effectively.
An excellent diet plan will assist golfers train, and play for five hours, as well as help keep them in

Is Golf A Sport Essay
Golf is a sport for many reasons, the biggest being that golf meets to definition of a sport. Golf in
the United States is a $76 billion annual industry with 25.7 million players. The debate over whether
or not golf is a sport wages on the internet, in bars, amongst sportswriters, and even on the golf

recognized by a sport by sporting goods store and media, golf burns more calories than other sports,
and is also included in the Olympics.
Golf meets the definition of a "sport" found in many dictionaries including the most trustworthy
dictionary and thesaurus of American English the Merriam Webster Dictionary. The Merriam–
Webster Dictionary defines a sport as "physical activity engaged in for pleasure: a particular activity
(as an athletic game)." I think that anyone can agree on the fact that golf fits Merriam–Webster's

requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis,

The Game Of Golf Vs. Golf
As Rickie Fowler once wisely said, "All you can do is really the prep work and make sure you 're
ready to hit each golf shot. Outside of that, you 're not sure really what 's going to happen. It 's a
funny game, but I think that 's why I love it. You never know, one day to the next; you could go
shoot 62, and the next day you 're going to shoot 78, and you can 't predict it." The game of golf is
one of the most challenging games offered today. It's interesting that so many amateur golfers, when
they think of improving their games, think of only one thing: improving their golf swing. Certainly,
it's great to develop a technically sound golf swing and to hit the ball higher, longer, and straighter.
However, the golfer who accomplishes this has improved only part of what is needed in order to
become a complete player. The other half of the game is psychological; golf is one of many sports
that requires mental toughness. One way to achieve mental toughness is to have a rigorous process
leading up to your shot. There is a procedure that needs to be followed before hitting every single
shot on the course, especially when attempting to hit an approach shot. Follow these six steps to
properly be prepared to execute the best golf swing possible.

REVIEW OF FACTS
Rock Creek Golf Club is a public golf course owned by a private company and managed by Lee
Jeffries. The case entails a debate about the golf carts used to take players around the course instead
of walking around. The carts they already owned were old and there was a need for new golf carts.
Approached by two salesman, Lee Jeffries was forced to chose to make a deal with one of them.
Salesman A offered carts at $2,240 each and at the end of five years the expected salvage value was
going to be $240 each.
Salesman B proposed to lease the golf carts for $500 dollars per cart per year. This was payable at

Recommendations and Conclusions
In conclusion of this case, we learned that leasing and purchasing items for the purpose of business
has different implications on the financial status of the company. This is especially true when the
terms for each are different.
Another point to consider is the future impact of either buying or leasing a piece of equipment has
on the future of the company. Does the company hope to depreciate the value of a purchased piece
of equipment and then gain some salvage value at the end. Could any salvage value come from
taking this approach? Would there be any potential buyers for the used equipment if it was yours to
sell at the end of a useful life? These are all questions to consider along with the NPV and terms and
payments and financial stability of the company when determining whether one should buy or lease
something.
I would recommend that Mr. Jeffries take all the analysis he can consider into account before
making his decision keeping in mind that the revenues and expenses he will generate will be the
same regardless of whether he leases or buys the carts. I would then pick the option with highest
NPV and with the payments for both principal and interest that make sense for his company.

Argument Against Golf
Nowadays there are a great many of sports and activities that we are able to enjoy. When it comes to
some of these activities many people discuss whether they are a sport or a game. There is a certain
debate that deals with Golf and it is, whether it should be considered a sport or a game. Many people
have different views and opinions on things and golf is one of them. My view is that golf should be
considered a sport for multiple reasons. First it follows the definition of a sport, second it is included
in major sporting events such as the Olympics, and third its golfers are considered athletes just like
any other sport. Since Golf is reaches the definition of a sport it helps see how golf qualifies for the
title of sport. Merriam Webster ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The definition of a athlete is someone who is proficient in a sport and other physical exercise. There
are many people who are proficient at golf and are considered golf athletes. These people go on golf
tours and do tournaments competing against other golf athletes and are very good at what they do.
Not all people who play a sport leisurely are considered athletes so not all golfers should be
considered athletes. Professional golfers should really be considered athletes due to the effort and
work they put into getting ready for their games. ESPN did a study in 2004 asking many other
athletes on what they believed. There was opinions that golf isn't really a sport but a very difficult
game. There was however quite a few people who said that golf is definitely a sport. Many athletes
from different sports claim that golf is a very difficult sport and that's why people like it. They make
many good points and a lot of them talk about how they thought golf was not as difficult until they
actually tried it and realised how truly difficult it is. Many of these athletes have played golf before
and understand what it's like and they recognize that is should definitely be considered a sport. One
also talks about the training some of the golf players do in order to get ready for a game and how
intense they do train for it. According to one website called golflink it talks about what golfers now

Executive Summary
Callaway is a premium golf equipment company which focuses on increasing the overall experience
of playing the game for those that use its products. The company will increase market share and
profits by focusing on specific target markets over the next 12 months.
Environmental Analysis
Socio–Culturally, Callaway is affected by the fact that the majority of its customers are Caucasian
and male. Further, this demographic is largely made up of male baby boomers, and this segment is
aging rapidly, with many giving up the game due to health reasons. Also, children are not taking up

Then, in 2009, they brought out the X–22 series of irons. Callaway purchases its raw materials from
vendors, so from that respect, there is a level of dependency on suppliers. If their prices go up, then
Callaway would need to raise theirs also, or their profit margins would be squeezed.
Opportunities
Social Media represents an opportunity for Callaway to interact with customers in a significant way.
They are able to listen to what is being said about them, react to this feedback, and communicate
new products, promotions and events. International sales represent 50% of Callaway's revenues.
Callaway looks to replicate their domestic success worldwide. Due to the growth in popularity of the
sport of golf over the past 13 years, primarily due to the success of Tiger Woods, there is a growing
market for clubs among young, learning golfers. Again, the Tiger Woods effect can be seen as gold
is no longer a suburban, primarily Caucasian sport. Golf has been introduced to children and people
of all walks of life, and should continue to gain in popularity. Callaway has put itself in a position to
add to its brand identity with its Lamborghini partnership. Lamborghini and Callaway joined forces

which translates to a lighter, thinner club head, which translates to increased club head speed, ball

How Golf Is A Sport

Golf is a Sport For the first time since 1904, golf will be returning to the 2016 Olympics in Rio
(Shipnuck). Golf is a very complicated sport. It is a mental game along with a physical one. The
many aspects of golf are very similar to other sports. Golf is a sport because it has similar
components to other sports such as strategizing how you play, the equipment used, and the physical
strength and endurance required. The first component is strategizing how you play. Knowing the
correct club to use in each situation on the golf course is a big factor of strategizing. Before you pick
your club you must visualize the ball and see it in its flight path, know the winds speed and
direction, the relation of the ball to the target, and lastly if your lie is good or bad (Herrfeldt). The
second factor of strategizing is being completely aware of your surroundings. The yardages for each
hole are marked on the scorecard or various object throughout the hole (Kelley). Knowing the
distance to the hole will allow you to pick the right club to hit the perfect shot. Some factors to
consider are wind and your lie. If you are hitting into a strong wind you will need to take a longer
distance club, but if you are hitting in the same direction as the wind a shorter club is ideal
(Herrfeldt). Another factor in strategizing how you play is to know which swing to take. Short, or
softer, swings will not allow the ball to travel as far as hard,

Benefits Of Golf Courses With Golf
This report is designed with two purposes. The first is to provide golf courses with options to help
increase the number of golfers they bring in and retain. By increasing their participation levels
courses will see a marked increase in the profits they are able to generate. Secondly this report will
supply individuals unfamiliar with golf a look inside the game and what is being done to improve it.
Golf has a centuries–long tradition of world wide participation. As with anything that has existed for
such a long time golf has experienced varying levels of popularity. In the United States golf has had
two significant upturns in popularity over the last fifty years. The first golfing boom occurred in the
1960's, while the second took place throughout the 1990's. In the decades following each of these
expansion periods the trend in golf differed greatly. To understand these differences we will explore:
The different courses being built in each period.
Costs associated with the new courses.
How challenging the new courses were to play.
How all the factors surrounding the boom in each decade affected participation.
With golf's popularity in decline it is vital to look at why this trend continues and what can be done
to reverse it. The key to increasing participation is bringing younger individuals into the game and
keeping them there. To engender this change it will be necessary to examine and adjust some aspects
of the game that many find bothersome and/or outdated. This

What Is Golf Swing?
Golf is not actively perceived as a physiologically demanding game with an historic view that the
body composition of a golfer is in no way linked to their skilfulness, many professional players have
adding validity to this notion by adopting less than athletic conditioning (Jang et al, 2014).
Contrariwise, Smith (2010) analysed the precise musculoskeletal movements required for elite
performance, noting them as significantly complex. Adding further to this notion, Ferdinands &
Kwon (2012) expressed golf to be the most technically demanding, high precision sport that exists.
With simplified overview of golf it is suitably described as a long durations of low intensity activity

Power is very much controlled by the factors of force and velocity (Zumerchik, 2002), this fact
causes an enigma within a golf swing. Principally, because force and velocity are interconnected by
scale, with maximal force and maximal velocity located at opposite ends. Practically, the golf swing
has high velocity, however this does compromise force generation. Subjectively, there appears to be
a gap in research connecting rate of force development (RFD) and the golf swing. As displayed in
the work of Aagaard (2003) it takes around 300 milliseconds for the application of maximal strength
to occur, yet on average a figure of 0.2 seconds is required from the downswing transition to the
development of maximal club head velocity (McTeigue et al, 1994). Leary et al (2002) appears to
corroborate the importance of this 0.2 second timeframe by showing players who create high ground
reaction forces within this window exhibit greater CHV. By means of this inference it is not likely
that maximal force can be applied in a golf swing.
Gulgin et al (2014) explored physiological requirement with a more applied outlook, linking
fourteen common swing faults (kinematics to the detriment of performance), as identified by
literature, to shared functional screening methods used by certified golf coaches the USPGA. With

Golf Over Time By Robin Williams Golf
Golf over time According to Robin Williams golf was created by Scottish people who wanted a
deathly hard game. However at some point people realized that the game was more than a funny
way of putting a ball in a hole. Over time, as the sport became more popular, people have found
different ways of enhancing the game. As technology improved people found ways to utilize higher
technology materials and also introduced many new systems to the game of golf. Yet some people
say that golf has not changed due to technology, they say that it is still a matter of getting the ball
into the hole. Technology has changed the game of golf. The materials for golf balls have changed
over time. The golf ball has been through many changes over time and can now be fit to the player 's
ability. Golf balls used to be built with wood, then leather and feather; but now they are being
produced with cast thermoset urethane that is 0.03 inches thick and they all have dimple patterns.
(Callaway Golf Builds on Ball Technology Success With Introduction of CTU 30 Blue and Red

and made of high technology materials rather than a ball made of wood means people get more
distance out out of the drives, but they can still generate lots of spin and control on the greens.
Further drives and more control on the greens means the percentage of being able to shoot lower are

Golf in Geometry?? No Way!
Geometry In The Game of Golf
For hundreds of years, golf has been an extremely popular and growing sport all around the world.
Looking where golf is now, it is growing rapidly from the young to the elder population. The first
round of gold was first played in the 15th century off the coast of Scotland, but it did not start to be
played until around 1755. The standard rules of golf were written by a group of Edinburgh golfers.
Today, people of the US, Scotland, and England, have been drawn to the game because it is fun,
challenging, and hardly any athletic ability at all is required for amateurs. In breaking down the
game, geometry plays a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In golf geometry is al around but it just takes one to stand back and look how line, angles, and
shapes are all around. Five geometry topics that are most prevalent in the game of golf include
circumference of circles, parallel lines, triangles, radius and diameter, and angle measurement. If
none of these geometric ideas were in golf, the game would not be here right now. The first
geometric topic involved in golf is the circumference of circles. For people who do not know the
objective of the game of golf, it is fairly simple. Put the ball in the hole. The circumference of the
hole is 13.35 inches, while the diameter is 4.25 inches. It is extremely important that the creators of
the course measure each distance from the tee box to the hole. Also, the diameter of a regulation golf
ball is 1.68 inches. The circumference is 5.28 inches. Though it is not clear exactly how the standard
measurement of the hole came up, it is obvious that it greatly affects the scores of golfers. If it was
made a little bit smaller, scores will rise greatly. If the hole were too be made a little bit bigger, and
scores would come down significantly.
Moreover, parallel lines are very important to the game of golf. In the golf swing, if a full swing is
taken, the club should always be parallel to the ground when the club is at the furthest point back. If
the club is not taken all the way back it takes away the distance and if

Mr. John Pineno Out on the Course: Golf Course Photography Golf course photography is a type of
landscape photography, but is different from many other types of landscapes. Golf courses often
have well–manicured grass that is cut at different heights to give it definition. Another aspect that
affects the color is the direction in which the grass is mowed. If the blades of grass are facing away,
they appear to be a lighter shade of green. On the other hand, if they are mowed towards you, then
the grass will appear to be a darker shade of green. The difference in color and in the grass creates a
great contrast between the fairway, rough, and the greens. Other parts of golf courses such as water
and sand traps are also often featured in photos and provide great effects to enhance them.

The Scots state the case of organ because they are the home of St. Andrews, which was the first golf

could be used for golf between the shores of Holland and Scotland. This new game that people were
beginning to play in Scotland, seemed to take a hold of the people. At the time, the sport was open
to all people– no fees to pay, no starting times– just a short game of golf that would always be
followed by a trip to the local mead hall. Most golf played was on bets and times have not changed
on that fact. Men would go and bet that they could beat the man next to them on the links, which at
the time were only sandy, hilly pastures. It was because this game was at such a simple stage in its
history; it required skill and finesse that almost all people could do. So, to meet the demand of the
people, many courses were built along high bluffs on the eastern coastline in Scotland. It is here that
nature developed dunes, ridges, gullies and hollows that would challenge the best of golfers.
Through the years there have been many forms of golf clubs used to strike to object used as a ball.
Because of the increase in technology the tools of golf have been defined and redefined over and

Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the
fewest hits won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options has
increased as well. They have gone from wood drivers to drivers made of complex blends of
elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been
improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game more fair.
As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and
frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the
game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the
rules in the game of golf. By inquiring about the tradition of golf, I discovered that the game isn't
going to have new rules ever. Sometimes we get bad breaks when we hit a good shot, but we can

Competition in the Golf Industry

It is unknown when the game of golf originated, but it is believed that people began playing in
Europe during the middle ages. In the United States, golf was a sport primarily played by the
wealthy individuals until tournaments began being televised. Since then, golf has grown to be a very
lucrative industry with over 27 million golfers nationwide by the end of the 1990's. "Competition in

The state of the current economy paired with the decline in the number of golfers, has caused
companies to focus more on price and volume. Counterfeiting is largely attributable to the decisions
by executives to outsource for cheaper labor to manufacturers in China; who can produce a golf club
for less than $3 per club.
Recommendations
Companies currently operating within the golf industry, specifically Calloway Golf, must change
their current marketing approaches and strategies to withstand the recession and threats facing the
industry. Although Calloway has a strong R&D department that tends to remain competitive with
products and technology, there have been little results in reference to scores. It is imperative that if
companies are going to market a product that will help golfers drive further and straighter that the
results depict this so that not to damage the brand name of a product. Secondly, due to the decline in
equipment sales and the number of golfers, prices are dropping and companies are outsourcing to
maintain the volume needed to remain competitive. Companies must be cautious and aware so that
counterfeiting may be reduced. This reduction would also allow companies to reduce their pricing
and have more sales without the competition of these cheaply priced knock–offs. In the instance of

Personal Narrative: Playing Golf And Driving Golf Carts
I've always loved playing golf and driving golf carts. So in the summer of 2013 I worked at the Max
mandel municipal golf course. I worked as a cartboy, greeting, helping all the customers, keeping
the golf carts sparkling clean, picking up all the golf balls from the range, filling divots with sand,
cleaning the course restrooms, making sure all the carts are charged up, and making sure the carts
don't break. One day during that summer, my co–worker was running very late to our morning shift.
Finally he pulled into the parking lot as fast as he possibly could. I had already done a most of his
work. But I told him he owed me big time. Later that day we got a call that some of the customers

were dented, and to make it worse the axel was bent. We finally got it started and drove it back to

An Introduction to the Game of Golf

Golf: An Introduction to the Game with an Emphasis on the Last Twenty–Five Years
Abstract
The game of golf has changed ever since its creation in the 1400 's. Yet of all the changes in the
game most of them have come within the last 25 years. Golf has developed and changed so much in
the last 25 years that players and spectators alike can barely keep up with this new style of play.
Research demonstrates some of the basic elements of the game, as well as most of the
developmental changes the game has gone through in the last 25 years. Jeff Mashos, a former P.G.A.

First the golfer might produce a swing that is considered an "open to open" swing path. This occurs
when the club face starts out to the right of the target line and never leaves that position. The other
swing the player could produce is a "square to open" swing path. This is when the club face lines up
with the target line at the beginning of the swing and then finishes open of the target.
On the other hand Aultman describes that when a player hits the ball to the left, his swing path could
either be a "closed to closed" path. Which occurs when the club face has a left facing angle of the
target line and never leaves that point. The other swing a player could produce is "square to closed"
path. Just like the square to open path the club face starts on the correct plane, but it closes on
impact with the golf ball (Aultman 27). Both of these problems can be fixed by finding the right
kind of swing, as Rick Smith puts it in his book How to Find Your Perfect Golf Swing.
Smith, a tour professional, gives seven aspects that make up the golf swing. First, he describes the
"Human Instinct," what naturally comes to the players ' minds when they step up to hit the ball.
Second, "The Physical Condition," or a golfers ' ability to swing the club along the correct plane,
from the beginning to the completion of their round. Third, he presents the concept of
"Misperception." "Many people will tell their friends

The Game of Golf
The Game of Golf
When I started playing golf with my father at the age of seven years old, I never could have
imagined how much this game has taught me about life, motivation, and myself. My senior year in
high school I was playing as the number one and captain on the varsity golf team. That honor was
bestowed on me, because I was supposedly the best man on the team. Which just happened to be
true. It was an honor that I truly enjoyed because golf had been a hobby, sport, and passion I had
worked extremely hard at for close to a decade. But playing first man also had its drawbacks. The
one that I will speak of here is the style of speaking that I had to use while playing in a tournament.
It was five o'clock at night on a crisp fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I view golf a lot like learning because no matter how much closer I get to flawlessness, there is
always more to do and improve on. My mind functions like a balanced chemical equation or
perfectly solved math problem with only one perfect solution, no gray area. Yet, the fact that I have
to endlessly work at the process of perfection is exactly what intrigues me, and I have come to terms
with the fact that imperfection is part of perfection.
Over the past few years, I have leveraged this aspect of my character as a positive quality rather than
a weakness. I view failures and imperfections as an opportunity for growth and room for
improvement. Our hockey team emphasizes the phrase "Get Better Everyday" and personifies this as
the GBT, or the "Get Better Train." In order to be successful in any aspect of your life, you must be
hungry for accomplishment. Being on the Get Better Train emphasizes the importance of working
closer and closer to your goal everyday. On top of this, it stressed the importance of progress. No
matter how big or little, every movement toward your goal is significant. This very simple concept
has taught me to be positive everyday and strive to improve one aspect of myself everyday, always
working toward the different goals I have in my life from personal, to career, to educational, and
more. While many look at the game of golf and other sports as merely just a "game", these sports

Golf Representative Career
What is the common ground between a traveling 3M sales representative, a third grade teacher and a
golf professional? Dan Moris, the Golf Operations Manager at Eagle Valley Golf Course in
Woodbury, MN is the answer. It is crazy busy during the open season because the course is open
seven days a week from sun–up to sun–down. Flocks of people come to Woodbury to golf on this
beautiful, well–maintained, plush course at reasonable rates.
Dan has been through many years of other careers searching for his dream job. "I worked for 3M as
a customer service and sales representative for approximately five years." He ended up quitting this
job because of the relocation to North Carolina and because of the tremendous amount of travel. "I
enjoyed the beautiful mountains and light blue ocean, but I wanted to settle down and start a family
in Minnesota, where I grew up." The second career Dan got into was teaching, which required
another couple years of college. He taught third grade for three years ... Show more content on

It was not something I thought about going into through college. After being in the golf business for
over 20 years it has become very enjoyable," replied Dan when asked if his current profession was
his dream job. He spent eight years searching for the right profession, "It would have been nice to
know what career I wanted to pursue right after college." If Dan would have started his career in
golf right after college he could have had the opportunity to move up through the career path sooner
rather than later. Dan Moris has been through a lot of different career experiences, from being a
traveling 3M sales representative, to being a third grade teacher and now a golf professional. He has
done it all and at the same time he has a growing family as well as an extended family that he cares
deeply about. It took Dan some extra years to figure out his career path, but the time and effort has
paid off. He is very content in his current

Golf Psychology Essay
Many great golf players use golf psychology to help them win major tournaments. They knew they
were very talented, but needed to score a little bit better and become more consistent to achieve an
elite level. Buying more expensive equipment was not the secret and neither was practicing to the
point of sheer exhaustion. It has to do with the proven scientific discipline of psychology and
changing your way of thinking. It helps you over come the pressure associated with tournament play
and coping with a constant barrage of questions from fans and the media. It only takes a short time
to change your thinking so you can start winning.

When my golf game was not improving regardless of how much I practiced, I decided to use one of
the golf ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, I was not preparing myself mentally before playing, and I kept losing focus throughout
the game. I practiced the mend bending techniques presented and hoped I could use them in play. I
was also not maximizing my practice sessions to the fullest potential. As I develop more confidence,
I will improve my game and quit dwelling on the bad shots. Fretting about one missed shot can ruin
an entire game of golf, and I was guilty of doing this.
5–
It took a golf psychology book to teach me how to improve my own thinking which would lead to
improving my golf game. When things start going terribly wrong on the course, you should never
ever get depressed and down on yourself. You need to develop a mental image that envisions things
going right. This imagery has much more power than you might think. It is along the same lines as
the power of positive thinking which is a popular yet truthful catch phrase, especially on the golf
course. Almost every successful pro prepares himself mentally for the game through this effective
visualization technique.
6–
A few years ago when my golf game was really suffering, I hired a swing coach to help me improve.
He helped me go from a 38 handicap to a 17 handicap in 2 years, but I wanted to be even better. I
attended a golf psychology seminar and bought the tapes and the book and I began to study and
practice everything they talked about. Amazingly,

Golf Greatest Failure

  • 1. Golf Greatest Failure The greatest failure and growing experience of my life has to be the falling out of my golf career. I was once one of the top ranked ranked junior golfers in the world with the burning desire to be a professional golfer. I had the competitive edge that not many kids had my age and it helped me for years. I was the number one ranked player in North Carolina, I was trying to qualify for PGA tour events at the age of 15, and I also was talking with big SEC and ACC schools. My whole life revolved around golf and I couldn't wait to see what my future held. Then I broke my right hand at the age of 16 which put my game at a standstill. The stress of not being able to play golf and colleges slowly dropping me off their radar caused me to get some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even after my hand healed fully, I was never the same on the golf course. My head would spin when I played and my attitude was terrible. If the person reading this essay has ever had the yips in golf, they know its the WORST thing in the world. I ended up quitting golf for about a year because of my frustration at the game and all with all my friends that I was previously better than were getting D1 scholarships made me want to play again. I recently have picked up the game again and everything is back to normal, which is the biggest relief of my life. I don't have those weird thoughts I had during Accutane and I am playing with no fear like the good ole' days. Even though my golf game brought great disappointment, I have recovered it and with my new approach towards the game I can't wait to see the success I will have in the future with it. One of my favorite quotes is "Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." – Napoleon Hill, which means that with failure comes prosperity. I am at the moment trying to get back to the playing level that I used to be at but am glad to have went through this growing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Is Golf A Game? Stepping up on the tee box of the 72nd hole with the lead in a major championship with fans following every step. Striping your tee ball down the middle of the fairway, hitting an iron shot right beside a tucked, tough Sunday pin, with fans roaring at the green with a putt to win. This is what anyone who has ever stepped on the green grass of a golf course dreams about. However, it is likely, in some way or another that, that dream will never come true. Only about one percent of all people who play golf will have that opportunity, but golfers understand this, and realize there is much more to the game than that. Every kid, or even adult, will pretend once in a while to have a putt too "win the Masters" or the Ryder Cup. Millions of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of them travel to the tournaments to do interviews and special segments that run during the big tournaments. The show tries to hit every point that will intrigue the avid golfer yet keep the attention of the casual. Due to the early running of the show, usually only the most dedicated of the golf community care enough to watch it. It is one of those shows that is running in the background while getting ready in the mornings. If this show is playing on someones TV in the morning that means they are probably really into golf and want to know the every day news of it. The golf community is a large one, so large in fact that sometimes its hard to directly point to who actually plays the game of golf. Golf has two sides, a competitive aspect and a social one, yet they are distinctly the same. Most people play golf to socialize, while enjoying a game at the same time. Golf provides an escape from the calamity of everyday life. The great thing about golf is that anyone of any age can play no matter what your skill level. • 7. Is Golf A Sport To begin with, a lot of people these days argue about if golf is a sport or not. If you look up the word sport in dictionaries golf meets that definition. Golf also burns off a lot of calories while playing the sport. If golf wasn't a sport than why should other things be called a sport. Golf is part of the sports category because it requires muscles and physical exertion, you compete against other players, and it has everything that other sports have. First of all, golf is a sport because it requires muscles use and physical exertion. When you take a swing in golf you use at least 17 muscles through your body. • 9. The Tradition Of Golf And Golf Essay Tradition of Golf For years, golf has been one of the oldest and most traditional sports. As the equipment and golf courses have changed, the etiquette and rules have not. In golf, etiquette has been a major part of the game. Staying quiet on the course and repairing divots are a few examples of proper formality. Common rules include teeing the ball between the tee markers and marking your ball on the green. Along with these guidelines, there are rules that are controversial and seem unfair to golfers. Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the fewest strokes won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options for clubs has increased as well. They have gone from wooden drivers to drivers made of complex blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game fairer. As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the rules in the game of golf. I've also discovered that the game will most likely stay the same and not change any of the rule. • 11. Golf Governing Bodies To Limit Golf Technology Advances Is it right for the golf governing bodies to limit golf technology advances? If an athlete who plays a competitive sport is asked if they would like to improve in their sport, the answer will always be yes. There is not one athlete that is satisfied with their current ability and they are constantly working toward the idea of "better". In Roslyn Kerr's Sport and Technology: An actor–network theory, she states, "there is an undisputed link between the goal of sport and that of scientists, with both groups searching for greater human achievement. In sport, this is often achieved through improving and enhancing already existing equipment and technology" (2016). Kerr goes on to state that one would think that these technological advancements would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Does anyone in their right mind think that modern tennis has changed too much? Do people believe Rafael Nadal is serving at too high a ball speed or that tennis superstar Serena Williams needs to go back to the wooden racket? Those questions are unreasonable in the context of tennis, yet for golf that mindset resides within the governing body. The counter argument of fair play does not have merit in this debate because everyone can have access to the newest club or ball technology in golf. The game of golf for the amateur is played by the same rules as it is by the professional. Limiting the technological advances is simply done to prevent golfers from getting too good. However, since this is a sport that can be said to be one of the hardest sports to master, it is hard to imagine why the governing body is actively trying to limit the abilities of its players. It can be argued that the USGA doesn't want another record broken. It seems to the average golfer that the new rules they are implementing are designed so that shooting 59 doesn't become the norm or shooting 54 remains as an impossible task for tour ... • 13. Essay On Girls Golf The 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil offered golf as a competitive sport for the first time since the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. Both men and women were allowed to compete. As golf continues to make advances in the world, Steilacoom High School follows in pursuit. While boys golf has had an established team at Steilacoom for the last decade, the same cannot be said for girls golf. However, the new school year brings new change, and with that, a newly established girls golf team. Prior to the 2015–2016 school year, Steilacoom had a small girls golf team comprised of six or more girls. As those girls graduated, they left an unmotivated and uninspired group in their wake. When the 2015–2016 school year came around, there were not enough girls willing to try out to even form a team. Sophomore Ari Oranga said, "Every morning on the ... Despite a surge of interest in girls golf, many students are still hesitant to try out. Sophomore Olivia Woo said, "I don't know enough about golf. Even if i wanted to try out, I probably wouldn't, since the only experience I have is Wii Golf." Most girls had similar responses. Their lack of knowledge about golf keeps them from pursuing the sport. Another reason many high school girls are shying away is the fact that girls golf is not a big, established team. • 15. The Perfect Golf Swing The Perfect Golf Swing As a young caddie running up and down the course, I saw my uncle slamming the ground with a golf club. I always found him so angry, playing the game of golf. I stopped running and watched him play; I studied his body as he elegantly swung the club through the air. Sweat dripping from his nose, his shirt soaked completely through. I watched him for hours that day, and I would watch him over and over again, trying to find that perfect swing. The perfect golf swing is said to be unattainable to many in the golfing world. I spent my childhood on a golf course being a caddy for my uncle. It is not as easy as it may look; there are a few tips to remember. The key to turning over your hands is to return them to the beginning position when impact with the ball occurs. The motion of turning your hands over is what keeps the ball straight and aimed at the target. All that is remaining is to watch the ball and hit it as hard as possible. If this is done properly, the golfer can hit the ball as hard as he wants. After the hit the clubhead should end up behind the golfers head. The golfer should find himself facing the target, with his left foot planted on the ground and his right toe is the only part touching the ground. When all of these steps are done correctly, the golf swing is a beautiful sight. With so many professionals on TV, it is easier to see what the swing should look like. There are many great players to watch now such as Phil Mickelson, Davis Love, and let's not forget the most popular player Tiger Woods. All of these players have what it takes to make the perfect golf swing. Golf does not put any physical exertion on the body and walking and carrying the clubs around the course burns more calories than actually golfing. Whether it be playing the sport or simply watching it, sports can provide an exciting experience for anyone who is interested in them (or not interested). There are a large variety of sports, some very different from one another and some very similar. For instance, there are two different types of golf that people play and are involved with. There is ball golf, which is usually referred to as "golf" and disc golf, which is usually referred to as "Frisbee golf". Despite both sports being types of golf they each have distinctive differences that make them two separate sports. No matter what sport it is, equipment is essential in many sports and allows the participants to play the sport. The equipment for ball golf and disc golf vary distinctively in many aspects. The name of both sports gives you an idea of what equipment to use, ball golf uses a ball and clubs to hit the ball. On the other hand, disc golf uses disc that you throw into the "hole". The target in which you try to get the object into varies, as well. For ball golf the target is a hole made into the ground that you hit the ball into. Whereas in disc golf you throw the disc into a basket that has chains around it, this basket is the "hole" and is required equipment to be able to play disc golf. Golf in the United States is a $76 billion annual industry with 25.7 million players. The debate over whether or not golf is a sport wages on the internet, in bars, amongst sportswriters, and even on the golf course. Golf meets the definition of a "sport" found in many dictionaries including the most trustworthy dictionary and thesaurus of American English the Merriam Webster Dictionary. The Merriam– Webster Dictionary defines a sport as "physical activity engaged in for pleasure: a particular activity (as an athletic game)." I think that anyone can agree on the fact that golf fits Merriam–Webster's definition of a sport. • 33. The Game Of Golf Vs. Golf As Rickie Fowler once wisely said, "All you can do is really the prep work and make sure you 're ready to hit each golf shot. Outside of that, you 're not sure really what 's going to happen. It 's a funny game, but I think that 's why I love it. You never know, one day to the next; you could go shoot 62, and the next day you 're going to shoot 78, and you can 't predict it." The game of golf is one of the most challenging games offered today. It's interesting that so many amateur golfers, when they think of improving their games, think of only one thing: improving their golf swing. Certainly, it's great to develop a technically sound golf swing and to hit the ball higher, longer, and straighter. However, the golfer who accomplishes this has improved only part of what is needed in order to become a complete player. The other half of the game is psychological; golf is one of many sports that requires mental toughness. One way to achieve mental toughness is to have a rigorous process leading up to your shot. There is a procedure that needs to be followed before hitting every single shot on the course, especially when attempting to hit an approach shot. Follow these six steps to properly be prepared to execute the best golf swing possible. 1.Evaluate the lie of the ball Walk up to the golf ball and observe the surface it is lying upon. Determine whether the ball is lying on an uphill, downhill, or sidehill. Next, examine the surface the ball is lying on. Conclude whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recommendations and Conclusions In conclusion of this case, we learned that leasing and purchasing items for the purpose of business has different implications on the financial status of the company. This is especially true when the terms for each are different. Another point to consider is the future impact of either buying or leasing a piece of equipment has on the future of the company. Does the company hope to depreciate the value of a purchased piece of equipment and then gain some salvage value at the end. Could any salvage value come from taking this approach? Would there be any potential buyers for the used equipment if it was yours to sell at the end of a useful life? These are all questions to consider along with the NPV and terms and payments and financial stability of the company when determining whether one should buy or lease something. I would recommend that Mr. Jeffries take all the analysis he can consider into account before making his decision keeping in mind that the revenues and expenses he will generate will be the same regardless of whether he leases or buys the carts. I would then pick the option with highest NPV and with the payments for both principal and interest that make sense for his company. Golf is a very complicated sport. It is a mental game along with a physical one. The many aspects of golf are very similar to other sports. Golf is a sport because it has similar components to other sports such as strategizing how you play, the equipment used, and the physical strength and endurance required. The first component is strategizing how you play. Knowing the correct club to use in each situation on the golf course is a big factor of strategizing. Before you pick your club you must visualize the ball and see it in its flight path, know the winds speed and direction, the relation of the ball to the target, and lastly if your lie is good or bad (Herrfeldt). The second factor of strategizing is being completely aware of your surroundings. The yardages for each hole are marked on the scorecard or various object throughout the hole (Kelley). Knowing the distance to the hole will allow you to pick the right club to hit the perfect shot. Some factors to consider are wind and your lie. If you are hitting into a strong wind you will need to take a longer distance club, but if you are hitting in the same direction as the wind a shorter club is ideal (Herrfeldt). Another factor in strategizing how you play is to know which swing to take. Short, or softer, swings will not allow the ball to travel as far as hard, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the decades following each of these expansion periods the trend in golf differed greatly. To understand these differences we will explore: The different courses being built in each period. Costs associated with the new courses. How challenging the new courses were to play. How all the factors surrounding the boom in each decade affected participation. With golf's popularity in decline it is vital to look at why this trend continues and what can be done to reverse it. The key to increasing participation is bringing younger individuals into the game and keeping them there. To engender this change it will be necessary to examine and adjust some aspects of the game that many find bothersome and/or outdated. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. What Is Golf Swing? Golf is not actively perceived as a physiologically demanding game with an historic view that the body composition of a golfer is in no way linked to their skilfulness, many professional players have adding validity to this notion by adopting less than athletic conditioning (Jang et al, 2014). Contrariwise, Smith (2010) analysed the precise musculoskeletal movements required for elite performance, noting them as significantly complex. Adding further to this notion, Ferdinands & Kwon (2012) expressed golf to be the most technically demanding, high precision sport that exists. With simplified overview of golf it is suitably described as a long durations of low intensity activity interspersed with short duration high intensity activity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Power is very much controlled by the factors of force and velocity (Zumerchik, 2002), this fact causes an enigma within a golf swing. Principally, because force and velocity are interconnected by scale, with maximal force and maximal velocity located at opposite ends. Practically, the golf swing has high velocity, however this does compromise force generation. Subjectively, there appears to be a gap in research connecting rate of force development (RFD) and the golf swing. As displayed in the work of Aagaard (2003) it takes around 300 milliseconds for the application of maximal strength to occur, yet on average a figure of 0.2 seconds is required from the downswing transition to the development of maximal club head velocity (McTeigue et al, 1994). Leary et al (2002) appears to corroborate the importance of this 0.2 second timeframe by showing players who create high ground reaction forces within this window exhibit greater CHV. By means of this inference it is not likely that maximal force can be applied in a golf swing. Gulgin et al (2014) explored physiological requirement with a more applied outlook, linking fourteen common swing faults (kinematics to the detriment of performance), as identified by literature, to shared functional screening methods used by certified golf coaches the USPGA. • 53. Golf Over Time By Robin Williams Golf Golf over time According to Robin Williams golf was created by Scottish people who wanted a deathly hard game. However at some point people realized that the game was more than a funny way of putting a ball in a hole. Over time, as the sport became more popular, people have found different ways of enhancing the game. As technology improved people found ways to utilize higher technology materials and also introduced many new systems to the game of golf. Yet some people say that golf has not changed due to technology, they say that it is still a matter of getting the ball into the hole. Technology has changed the game of golf. The materials for golf balls have changed over time. The golf ball has been through many changes over time and can now be fit to the player 's ability. Golf balls used to be built with wood, then leather and feather; but now they are being produced with cast thermoset urethane that is 0.03 inches thick and they all have dimple patterns. (Callaway Golf Builds on Ball Technology Success With Introduction of CTU 30 Blue and Red Three–Piece Golf Balls 1),(Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x 2–8). Having a golf ball that is multi layered and made of high technology materials rather than a ball made of wood means people get more distance out out of the drives, but they can still generate lots of spin and control on the greens. Further drives and more control on the greens means the percentage of being able to shoot lower are much greater. In addition to new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Geometry In The Game of Golf For hundreds of years, golf has been an extremely popular and growing sport all around the world. Looking where golf is now, it is growing rapidly from the young to the elder population. The first round of gold was first played in the 15th century off the coast of Scotland, but it did not start to be played until around 1755. The standard rules of golf were written by a group of Edinburgh golfers. Today, people of the US, Scotland, and England, have been drawn to the game because it is fun, challenging, and hardly any athletic ability at all is required for amateurs. In golf geometry is al around but it just takes one to stand back and look how line, angles, and shapes are all around. Five geometry topics that are most prevalent in the game of golf include circumference of circles, parallel lines, triangles, radius and diameter, and angle measurement. If none of these geometric ideas were in golf, the game would not be here right now. The first geometric topic involved in golf is the circumference of circles. For people who do not know the objective of the game of golf, it is fairly simple. Put the ball in the hole. The circumference of the hole is 13.35 inches, while the diameter is 4.25 inches. It is extremely important that the creators of the course measure each distance from the tee box to the hole. Also, the diameter of a regulation golf ball is 1.68 inches. The circumference is 5.28 inches. Though it is not clear exactly how the standard measurement of the hole came up, it is obvious that it greatly affects the scores of golfers. If it was made a little bit smaller, scores will rise greatly. If the hole were too be made a little bit bigger, and scores would come down significantly. Moreover, parallel lines are very important to the game of golf. In the golf swing, if a full swing is taken, the club should always be parallel to the ground when the club is at the furthest point back. If the club is not taken all the way back it takes away the distance and if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay On Golf Course Out on the Course: Golf Course Photography Jonathan Wilson Photography 100 February 27, 2017 Mr. John Pineno Out on the Course: Golf Course Photography Golf course photography is a type of landscape photography, but is different from many other types of landscapes. Golf courses often have well–manicured grass that is cut at different heights to give it definition. Another aspect that affects the color is the direction in which the grass is mowed. If the blades of grass are facing away, they appear to be a lighter shade of green. On the other hand, if they are mowed towards you, then the grass will appear to be a darker shade of green. The difference in color and in the grass creates a great contrast between the fairway, rough, and the greens. Other parts of golf courses such as water and sand traps are also often featured in photos and provide great effects to enhance them. At the time, the sport was open to all people– no fees to pay, no starting times– just a short game of golf that would always be followed by a trip to the local mead hall. Most golf played was on bets and times have not changed on that fact. Men would go and bet that they could beat the man next to them on the links, which at the time were only sandy, hilly pastures. It was because this game was at such a simple stage in its history; it required skill and finesse that almost all people could do. So, to meet the demand of the people, many courses were built along high bluffs on the eastern coastline in Scotland. • 63. Golf has changed a lot since it first started in 1297, where a leather ball was hit into a hole and the fewest hits won. The golf clubs and balls have changed significantly and the number of options has increased as well. They have gone from wood drivers to drivers made of complex blends of elements that make the ball fly higher and farther. Since the golf clubs and balls have all been improved, it's a surprise that some of the rules haven't been changed to make the game more fair. As a college golfer, I play the game and encounter situations where the rules can seem unfair and frustrating. The same goes with all other golfers, they have been in the same situations where the game punishes you for hitting a good shot. I've realized that we don't have a voice in changing the rules in the game of golf. By inquiring about the tradition of golf, I discovered that the game isn't going to have new rules ever. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The state of the current economy paired with the decline in the number of golfers, has caused companies to focus more on price and volume. Counterfeiting is largely attributable to the decisions by executives to outsource for cheaper labor to manufacturers in China; who can produce a golf club for less than $3 per club. Recommendations Companies currently operating within the golf industry, specifically Calloway Golf, must change their current marketing approaches and strategies to withstand the recession and threats facing the industry. Although Calloway has a strong R&D department that tends to remain competitive with products and technology, there have been little results in reference to scores. It is imperative that if companies are going to market a product that will help golfers drive further and straighter that the results depict this so that not to damage the brand name of a product. Secondly, due to the decline in equipment sales and the number of golfers, prices are dropping and companies are outsourcing to maintain the volume needed to remain competitive. Companies must be cautious and aware so that counterfeiting may be reduced. This reduction would also allow companies to reduce their pricing and have more sales without the competition of these cheaply priced knock–offs. In the instance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First the golfer might produce a swing that is considered an "open to open" swing path. This occurs when the club face starts out to the right of the target line and never leaves that position. The other swing the player could produce is a "square to open" swing path. This is when the club face lines up with the target line at the beginning of the swing and then finishes open of the target. On the other hand Aultman describes that when a player hits the ball to the left, his swing path could either be a "closed to closed" path. Which occurs when the club face has a left facing angle of the target line and never leaves that point. The other swing a player could produce is "square to closed" path. Just like the square to open path the club face starts on the correct plane, but it closes on impact with the golf ball (Aultman 27). Both of these problems can be fixed by finding the right kind of swing, as Rick Smith puts it in his book How to Find Your Perfect Golf Swing. Smith, a tour professional, gives seven aspects that make up the golf swing. First, he describes the "Human Instinct," what naturally comes to the players ' minds when they step up to hit the ball. Second, "The Physical Condition," or a golfers ' ability to swing the club along the correct plane, from the beginning to the completion of their round.
