Sharks have been feared ocean hunters ever since people first observed them swimming in the vast
ocean. However, today sharks are rapidly declining in numbers on a global scale due to humans

The moral duty is to promote the most favorable balance of good over evil for oneself. It involves
the self interest of a person but not necessarily to the detriment of others. Clearly the actions of the
fishermen are only looking for their own best interest. It could be argued that they are hunting these
sharks for the interest of the few that enjoy this delicacy and not for their own personal gain. They
look out for their own self interest and also for those who love eating shark fin soup. To the eyes of
the fishermen, they aren't being harmful to anyone else because there are no humans being harmed
in the process of attaining shark fins.

egoism should not just stand for human but all living creatures. What is being done to the sharks can
be viewed as completely unethical and therefore it can be argued that the fishermen that they are
indeed not acting upon ethical egoism, rather they are acting as egotistical for their own personal

Governments and the public are at a critical point in terms of conservation. Many of the worlds
species are at threat and without adjustments of legislation and actions this trend will continue.
Sharks unfortunately are a species that are at high risk due to the actions of humans. Yet until
recently they weren't given very much attention. So now that the public is aware that something is
going wrong with sharks what can they do to change it. The public could start with simple things to
just become more environmentally friendly. They could recycle their plastics, try to reduce their
contribution to climate change and become more educated about sharks. The next step they could
take is donating to a well–recognized organization that works towards shark conservation. Perhaps
the biggest thing that the public can do is to advocate to governments to make stricter regulations for

Have you ever been in a dangerous life or death situation? It may not have been life or death, but
even just going camping you have to make a fire and build shelter to survive. These three people
were in a life or death situation and used their unique characteristics to survive. In the news

1 Lots of people seem to have misconceptions about sharks; they're man–eating killing machines,
they're aggressive towards humans; they're unimportant to the ocean's ecosystem. I highly disagree
with these notions. In fact, I believe sharks are one of the greatest animals on the planet. Despite the

Shark finning should stop. Shark poaching or finning has been going on for a while to make a dish

their fins off. The worst part is once they're done, they drop them back into the water and make them
suffer as they lose tons of blood, and later suffocate or be eaten by other animals. It makes me feel

called Selachimorpha, commonly known as Sharks. Sharks are the most dominantly feared creatures
of the marine world. Although they are perceived as a threat to humans, these animals keep marine
organisms in check. Sharks have developed a unique physical structure that enables them to
efficiently hunt prey while simultaneously playing a vital role in balancing the ecosystem. These
apex predators fall under the classification class Chondrichthyes, which is comprised of
cartilaginous skeleton. Chondrichthyes is sub–divided into two classes; the Elasmobranchii,
composed of sharks, skates and rays, and the Holocephali ("Shark Taxonomy" 8). As we move
further down the scientific classification, identifying these similar looking creatures become more
difficult. Their order is separated into two super–orders, which are the extinct Cladoselachimorph
and the Euselachii; composed of 12 orders of which only nine are amongst us today (9). Many

My heart began to beat at a rapid rate, "THUMP, THUMP, THUMP." As the scuba diving boat came
