1. The self-titling of the
album ‘turnover’ promotes
the artist further, this
means that the band name
is more memorable.
Also, due to this being
their first album, they are
advertising the band itself.
We are using the same
idea for our own album
and front cover of the
digipak as we are
promoting a new band so
we want their name to be
recognisable and
memorable.
Self-titled Album
The first letter of the band name ‘t’ is not a capital letter.
This link in with the hypodermic needle theory created by
Katz and Lazarfeld (1955), the fact the ‘t’ is not capital means
that this is an advertisement strategy. Therefore when ever
the word ‘turnover’ is seen, people will unconsciously link it
with the band. We will use a similar approach by having a
unique font used throughout the digipak which will relate to
the band logo, meaning that whenever the audience sees
the font they will know it is related to the band.
The dark image contrasts
with the white writing so
that it stands out more,
regardless of the font
being quite small and
simple. This is effective
because the name isn’t a
particularly dominant
aspect of the front cover
but still manages to be
clear and obvious. We
are using the same
method for the back of
our digipak so that the
song titles are clear but
the picture is still
significant.
The conceptual image could represent the bands
background, due to the neighbourhood settingand could possibly have an emotional meaning to
them, inspiring their music. The sun rising could
conceivably represent a brighter future ahead of
them as well as having an artistic element of the
silhouettes of trees against the sky. We liked the
