1. I tried to address/attract my target audience using many effective features in
my magazine. I took inspiration from magazines such as Q and Rolling
Stone, and I was influenced by the different fonts and layouts of each page
(for example). Here are some ways I attracted my audience…
2. I chose to mention that
Glastonbury Festival line up was
featured in my magazine, as
Glastonbury is a popular music
festival with my target
demographic: it features
bands/solo artists that would
appeal to my audience, such as
Jay Z and Lana Del Rey.
I chose to include ‘100 Best
New Acts To Look Out For’, as
my target demographic like to
keep up to date with new
things such as trends and
music. This feature will ensure
that my readers are in the
know and up to date.
I included a catchy selling line
that says, ‘A Quality You Cannot
Describe That Makes Music
Very Special’. This will appeal to
my audience as it ensures the
magazine will be special to
them and of the highest
quality.
I included the name of a
popular DJ (Martin Garrix) as
he is attractive to my target
audience because he is ‘on
trend’ at the moment.
I included more images on the
cover of my band ‘Neon Lights’
as they have the conventional
‘teenage girl’ look about
them, which will relate to many
people within my target
demographic and attract them
to my magazine.
I decided to include a ‘sneak
peak’ of my band’s video shoot
as my audience like to be in the
know, so a ‘sneak peak’ will
make them feel as if they are the
first people to have seen this
video shoot, therefore they will
feel totally up to date with the
latest news about popular
music.
3. I decided to include images from
Beyoncé's Mrs Carter World Tour
as she is a popular, highly
respected artist who is very on
trend at the moment and
attractive to my demographic.
Many people within my audience
who answered my questionnaire
said that they would be attracted
to my magazine if Beyoncé was
on the cover, so the mention of
her in my contents page will
appeal to them also.
I included a feature that allows
my audience to subscribe to my
magazine for just £2 a month
which will appeal to
them, because this is a price that
the younger part of my
demographic could afford, and
that the older part of my
demographic could also
afford, however they wouldn’t
have to splash out to subscribe
to my magazine.
I included a ‘Free Download’ for
my readers of Kanye West’s new
single as he is an artist that is
popular with my
demographic, therefore they will
appreciate that they have a
chance to download his music
for free.
I included images of my band
‘Boys Capital’ and my solo artist
‘Ben Knapper’ in a ‘photo shoot’
setting, as I thought this would
appeal more to my target
audience than if they were in an
outside setting (for example).
This type of ‘photo shoot’
setting looks more cool, up-
market and almost more
expensive which will appeal to
my audience.
4. I included quite a sophisticated font for the title as I
think this mirrors my target audience so will
therefore appeal to them. It is easy to read and
stands out on the page as it contrasts the rest of the
more simple text.
I included a large, black and white main image as I
think that a black and white edit looks more classy
and slick – I believe this reflects my target
demographic, and the image of a young, female
solo artist will attract them.
I decided to include an ‘exclusive code’ for 20%
off Frankie’s album, as I believe the word
‘exclusive’ will address my target audience: they
again will feel like they are up to date and in the
know concerning current, popular music.
Similarly to my cover page, I used a
‘sneak peak’ feature here as well to
make the audience feel like they will be
the first to hear Frankie’s brand new
album before anyone else.
