1) The document describes two experiments conducted by Alfie horwell to practice using video editing tools for a final music video project.
2) In the first experiment, various tools were used including transitions, overlays, chroma key, reverse, chopping, and cuts to experiment with different looks and styles.
3) Feedback indicated that all techniques from the first experiment would be applied to the final project, with refinement.
3. Process
• I've used a wide variety of tools for this such as: transitions,
overlay, chroma key, reverse, chopping, cuts and cuts to the beat,
visual effects and auto velocity. I mostly just wanted to experiment
with the tools ii had and wanted to see what would work well and
what looks good for the tyle I'm going for and looks I want to
achieve for my fmp music video, the cuts to the beat where the
first things I chose to do first as I am familiar with it and it isn’t too
hard to do, I then decided to add auto velocity and reverse some
clips t give it more visual interest and depth after this I chose to try
out the chroma key which gave the clips a glitch like loo that I liked
and thought fitted the aesthetics of the video along with the
overlay which gives the long intro more visual interest.
4. Reflection
I will likely use everything I used in this experiment for my final music video as it captures
the look, I want to achieve all be it a little unrefined, I will use each of the tools individually
and together to show my vision for my music video as in the experiment I used all the
individually and will find a way for the final product even if it is slightly different but more
refined and cleaner with the new knowledge I have gained by doing this experiment.
6. Process
• The drifting one was one of my first proper edits and has its
flaws but also is good for my overall 3rd edit and was the first
time I used cuts to the beat, auto velocity and transitions. I feel
like I should've explored what the app had to offer more at this
time as the edit would've come out much better and flusher
rather than using the auto velocity to fill in the parts I didn’t
know what to do with.
7. Reflection
• I'm going to use all the effects and tools I did
with both edits into my final music video but
try to make it better than the last by fully
exploring what the app has to offer and using
them to the best of my ability.
