2. Narrative
• - This week we have been working on our narrative. This
involved us sharing ideas through “Whatsapp” a messaging
service. The use of Web 2.0 was beneficial as each member
was able to keep up to date, in terms of what we planned
to change or ask any questions regarding the final plot.
• Before writing the narrative I did research on the
structure, but also other Horror movie synopsis’s to gain a
deeper understanding of what it must include. I looked at
Orphan's narrative/plot summary on
http://horror.wikia.com which is a database full of Horror
movies. This enabled me to advice Priscilla on what to
include when she started writing the introduction of the
narrative.
3. Discussion
• In class we brainstormed our ideas for our trailer as a
group. Me and Priscilla then furthered this brainstormed
aspects that we will need to consider when creating a
trailer including the title, main characters, mise en scene,
setting, sound and production (these ideas will be posted
on our blogs on a later date).
• We then emailed our ideas to Afreen due to her being
unable to stay behind after school. This led to an element
of cohesion within the group as I thought we were going to
gain influence from Scream (1998), however I soon learnt
from Priscilla and Afreen that other films would fit better in
terms of playing homage and following conventions
presented.
4. Other aspects we have also
explored
• I created a synopsis for our movie to guide us in
the right direction when writing a narrative.
• We named our protagonists using other Horror
films/novels as inspiration but also theorists in
terms of Saussure's “Sign, Signifier and Signified”.
• Priscilla created a poll on our potential
movie/trailer name and asked participants to
read the narrative and pick which title they felt
met the aura/feeling of the plot.
