SOFTWARE ORIENTATION
Word offers several different ways to view a document, locate text or object quickly, and
manipulate windows.
Word provides options to change a document´s onscreen appearance by viewing the document in
full screen, web layouts, outline, and draft views.
CHANGING AND ORGANIZING DOCUMENTS VIEWS
Word enables you to open existing files in one of three forms: as an original document, as a copy
of a document, or as a read-only document.
To open existing documents from target location such as a USB flash drive, hard drive, network
location, desktop, CD, DVD, or portable device.
The view of tab on the ribbon have groups of commands for document views, show, zoom,
window, and macros.
Word has five document view options:
1. Print layout: is a default view.
2. Full screen reading: view is made for reading documents onscreen.
3. Web layout: view shows how the document would look as a web page.
4. Outline: view display the document as an outline.
5. Drafts: view is strictly for editing text.
USING SHOW COMMANDS
The show command group offers opinion for displaying various on screen features that can help
you create, edit, and navigate your document.
Rulers are measuring tools to align text, graphics and other elements used within a document.
Gridlines provide a grid of vertical and orison line that helps you align graphics and other objects I
your document. Grid lines are displays only on print layout views.
The navigation pane appears in the left side of the window when you select its command in the
show group. The navigation pane has three tabs.
USING ZOOM
2. The zoom group of commands lets you zoom in to get a closer view of a page or zoom out to see
more of the document at a smaller size. These commands also enable you to determine how many
document pages word simples within a single screen.
Within the zoom group, the page width bottom expands your document to fit the width of the
window. The zoom button launches the zoom dialog box, where you have more options for
zooming in and out.
Scroll bars allow user to move up or down or side to side within a document. In word a vertical
scroll bar appears on the right side of the document window.
You can click the scroll bottoms to move up or down on line at the time, or you can click and hold
a scroll bottom to scroll more quickly.
SEARCHING WITHIN A DOCUMENT
Word´s find command is located in the navigation pane in the show group on the view
tab, as well as on the home tab in the editing group.
In the home tab in the editing group, the drop-down arrow by the finds bottom displays a
menu that contains the find, advances find, replace, and go to commands.
USING THE GO TO COMMAND TO NAGATIVE A LONG DOCUMENT
In a longer document, you may need to move through the document more quickly than is
possible by scrolling.
Using the go to command will jumop to a specifc page, table, graphic, equation, or other
item in your document.
