saktan raja, Vira Pazhassi.

5. Pazhassi raja was one of the earliest freedom
fighters in India
he was the prince regent of the princely state of
Kottayam in Malabar India between 1774-1805.
He is popularly known as Kerala Simham( Lion of
Kerala) on account of his martial exploits.
on june 28, 1795 Pazhassi raja challenged the
British by stopping all tax collection.
1797 saw a series of revolts resulting in the loss
of liver for many British soldiers .
6. Pazhassi went into exiled in the
Wayanad forests and continued his
struggle from there.
The British used spies to find the
hideout of Pazhassi
In order to evade capture by his
enemies, Pazhassi killed himself on 30
November 1805.
