Bombing of Pearl Harbor
•On December 7, 1941 in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii - the Japanese surprise the American Naval Worship were completely destroyed. After 4 hours the Japanese Air raided Davao, Baguio, Iba, Tarlac and Clark Field.
•According to President Franklin Roosevelt: “ A date which will live in infamy.”
World War II
•From December 8 - Rapid Expansion of the Japanese that they successfully landed in North Luzon, Bicol Region, Davao and Tayabas.
•December 11, in Batangas tried to defend by a Filipino Pilot head by Capt. Jesus Villamor. But on December 22, 1941, General Masaharu Homma landed in Lingayen.
Manila Open City 
•To save Manila from total destruction, Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur declared it an Open City on December 26, 1941: Japanese era began.
•The Japanese occupy Manila on December 30 while Quezon second inaugural ceremonies took place in Corregidor where Chief Justice is Jose Abad Santos took the proceeding.

•Finally with collapse of USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East) that the Japanese entered Manila on January 2, 1942
The Japanese Military Government
•Established on January 3, 1942 General Yashihide Hayashi become it First Director - General and Genaral Takazi Wachi became Second and last Director - General.
•All new installed cabinet members has its own Japanese advisers. All aspect of the government are controlled and regulated by the Japanese government.
•Implemented the Mickey Mouse money and Filipino learned the buy and sell type of business but we are agriculturally devastated.
The Philippine Executive Commission
•To implement their policies that on January 23, 1942 They setup the Commission under the leadership of Manila Mayor Jorge Vargas as chief executive and 6 executive secretaries.
•Interior Commissioner- Benigno Aquino Sr. 
•Finance commissioner – Antonio delas Alas 
•Justice Commissioner – Jose P. Laurel
•Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner - Rafael Alunan Sr. 
•Commissioner on Education, Health and Public Peace – Claro M. Recto
•Commissioner on Public Service and Communication – Quintin Paredes 
•Chief Justice – Jose Yulo and the Philippine Council of State was instituted to be the advice of the Executive Commission.
Significant Events:
•President Quezon left Corregidor on February 20, 1942 to United States. February 23, 1942 Francis Sayre then followed. 
•March 11, 1942 - Gen. Douglas Mc Arthur went to Australia to lead Pacific Southwest Battalion.
The Death March 
Fall of Bataan
•After a long siege of Bataan where it is a military stronghold of the American – Filipino defense since December, 1941. In the Abucay Line – General Vicente Lim and Mess Sgt. Jose Calugas – US Congressional Medal of Honor.
•Because of technology, the Japanese won on April 9, 1942. 
•76,000 soldier (66, 000 are Filipinos) March from Mariveles, Bataan to San Fernando Pampanga. Survivors are delivered to Capas, Tarlac.
Fall of Corregidor
•Corregidor is the last Stand of USAFFE under General Jonathan Wright. 
•After months of defense, finally defeated on May 6, 1942 
•Wainwright in Manila, instructed to surrender to the Japs…
Guerilla Warfare
•Luis Taruc Leader of HUKBALAHAP (HUKbong BAyan LAban sa mga HAPon) in Luzon. 
•ROTC Hunters of Cainta Miguel Ver and Eleoterio Adevoso
•Ruperto Kangleon in Leyte 
•Tomas Confesor and Macario Peralta of Panay 
•Tomas Cabili, Wendel Fertia and Salipada Pandatun in Main Davao 
•Wenceslao Vinzon in Camarines Norte
•Pro Japanese – Makapili (MAkabayang KAtipunan ng mga PILIpino) – Artemio Ricarte, Emilio Aguinaldo and Benigno Ramos
2nd Philippine Republic 
Puppet Government
•Creation of Greater Manila : Manila, Quezon city, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Makati, Pasay and Parañaque. Japanese Military Administration – on August 6, 1942.
•To promote racism KALIBAPI (Kapisanan sa Paglilingkod sa Bagong Pilipinas) – Sole Party in the Philippines on December 4, 1942
•On May 6, 1943 Premier Hideki Tojo implement the Philippine Independence. 
•Framing the Constitution with the approval of the Imperial Diet on September 4, 1943.
•The National Assembly on September 25, 1943 elected Dr. Jose P. Laurel as President (officially our 2nd President).
The Promise Kept…
•After winning the Battle of Midway in 1944, Gen Douglas Mc Arthur kept his promise that on October 20, 1944 - He returned to Philippines with President Sergio Osmeña .
•(The death of Quezon 08/01/1944 in Saranak Lake, New York) landed in Leyte with 650 marine ships.
•On October 23, Tacloban become the Capital and won the Battle of Leyte Gulf on October 26, 1944. February 3, 1945 launched a full scale invasion of Manila that ended in February 23, 1945.

•February 27, 1945 Mc Arthur turned over the government to Osmeña. 
•April 28, 1945 virtually declared Freedom in the Philippines.
•Japanese refuse to surrender on July 28, 1945 that the bomb Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and Nagasaki on August 9.
Liberation 
•September 2, 1945 Emperor Hirohito surrendered Japans war on USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay and September 3, General Yamashita surrendered Baguio.
Konklusyon 
•Natapos ang Ikalawang Digmaang Pandaigdig na ang Bansang Hapon ay tuluyan sinakop ng mga Amerikano… Land of the Rising Sun kasi sa patuloy ng pag-asenso di tulad natin na naiwan na…
