The 6 steps are: 1) define the problem, 2) specify the goal, 3) review options, 4) select treatment, 5) start the plan, and 6) follow up monitoring. Technical points include writing legibly without abbreviations, avoiding rewriting prescriptions, and special requirements for controlled substances.
