BACKGROUND
• The morning of April 25, 2018, well # 7
was not operational.
• Advance Water Well Technologies Inc.
was contacted to help ascertain the
nature of the problem.
• Utilized them numerous times, very
professional, responsive and competitively
priced

BACKGROUND CONT’D
• The shaft between the motor and
pump spun the spline, resulting in
the motor to free spin.
• Records indicate the last time the
well was pulled was twenty-seven
years ago.

BACKGROUND CONT’D
• The Edwards Aquifer Authority was
notified of the situation so an
inspection of the well casing could
be performed
• Resulting inspection indicated the
casing is in good condition.

POLICY ANALYSIS
• Repairs are necessary and
beneficial to maintain the operation
of the Utility Department.

FISCAL IMPACT
• Pump, motor and six (6) sections
of column pipe and electrical cable
to the motor replacement cost are
$45,466.49 which is currently in
the Tower and Pump Maintenance
line item in the Utility General Fund

FISCAL IMPACT CON’T
• The following funds will be transferred from
the Electrical Expense line item, Utility
General Fund:
• Soft Start electrical upgrades estimated at
$20,000
• An additional $10,000 for CPS Energy meter
drop and an electrician cost to run power feed,
for an estimated total of $30,000
