SUMMARY
Staff report on potential pedestrian improvements near Cambridge Elementary School on
Townsend from Cambridge Oval to Ogden and on Ogden from Townsend to Columbine.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In September 2023, a resident presented City Council with a petition from residents in the area
near Cambridge Elementary School requesting pedestrian improvements on the west side of the
school’s property. Specifically, the petition requested the City install sidewalks and accessible
transitions on the west side of Townsend between Cambridge Oval and Harrison. A portion of this
area has sidewalks, but north of the mid-block crosswalk does not until north of Ogden, a block
and a half.
The staff report will provide information on the current condition of Townsend and the nearby
pedestrian network, provide potential pedestrian improvements, and offer an estimated cost and
timeline for these improvements.
