Circle 1: Mission - What We Are Deeply Passionate About Advantech Mission Statement: Empower Innovations in the Connected eWorld In the coming connected age, many new applications and innovative services will be created and provided for by thousands of solution integrators all over the world. Advantech’s mission is to empower those innovations by providing ePlatform services to the solution integrators. Solution integrators make use of the contribution of our products and services to effectively realize their innovations and easily deliver their applications to users. We are very proud of these contributions and this is what we are deeply passionate about. Web-enabled devices, appliances and systems will replace traditional standard products, so they can all be connected. Phase II: Value-added Services After basic connectivity is implemented, value-added services can be provided on top of already connected devices. SIs will go deeper into their professional vertical expertise. They will outsource ePlatform requirements to platform providers. However, they will usually require an application specific platform with domain know-how built-in. Examples: 1) Web-Kiosks in convenience stores 2) Web-based healthcare services 3) Web-based Video Surveillance Systems 4) Web-based FMS in factories. Phase III: Full Enterprise Networking In this Phase, services will link together by transferring useful information automatically to provide a higher grade of networked services. There will be pure content providers, and ePlatform requirements will require mobility and a higher degree of user friendliness, as in, for example, Bank ATM machines. Today, in most applications, we are still in the early stage of PHASE I. Lots of effort still needs to be invested in enabling the basic connectivity. That means many ePlatforms will be required to enable the change. It also means that, we are actually at the early stage of an exciting growth age. Advantech and our partners will contribute to eWorld development through our products and services. Our platform strategy in 2010, still close to mainstream silicon parties to provide leading technology and solution. From Industrial Motherboards, Single board computers to Computer on Modules In 2010, Jan. We just announce 16 new Intel ATOM, Core i5, I7 and Luna-pier/Calpella platform with Intel together. This is first time that Advantech provide wide range platforms to support “update to date” mainstream silicon. And got very positive feedback from world-wide customers already. Furthermore, as global IPC leader company, we continue to develop new advanced form factor for next generation, “Intelligent Core” is our focus in coming future. We expect the low power consumption, more compact form factor with low profile, and reduce software complexity and able to plug & play, is the major focus to be the Intelligent Core for smart devices.
Embedded Software Services, As we all know, most of x86 platform still rely on BIOS to do system device diagnostic and power on. And after system power on success, the we will base on customer need to provide OS BSP to booting to Operation environment (whatever MS OS or Linux, QNX…etc) Then, since most of customer application developer is only focus on vertical application deployment, and they might not familiar to control the low level hardware configuration. e.g. Super IO, SMBus, … Therefore, we support Software API (SUSI) to allow application engineer to direct access HW configuration thru. SUSI. **SUSIAccess is the new integrated SW solution that we design for all Advantech boards and system products We intend to provide a embedded application which can help customer to manage and control embedded device from remote site. This way is not only well-managed all connected embedded devices, but also emphasis our products differentiation. As you can see, SUSIAccess can help customers to do remote device monitoring, control and system recovery, the only thing you need do is choice Advantech embedded platform & solution. As mentioned earlier, embedded world become more connected, more close to people life, and more storage space either data located in Cloud or Client end devices… Start from 2009, we pick out the certified Industrial Module and Integrate into embedded system platform, with extensive software solution and graphical user interface, those embedded modules has well-deployed on embedded system. ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems . ISO 9000 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. For a manufacturer, some of the requirements in ISO 9001 (which is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family) include: - a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business; - monitoring manufacturing processes to ensure they are producing quality products; - keeping proper records; - checking outgoing product for defects, with appropriate corrective action where necessary; - regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; - And, facilitating continual improvement A company or organization that has been independently audited and certified to be in conformance with ISO 9001 may publicly state that it is "ISO 9001 certified" or "ISO 9001 registered." Certification to an ISO 9000 standard does not guarantee the compliance (and therefore the quality) of end products and services; rather, it certifies that consistent business processes are being applied. The ISO 14000 environmental management standards exist to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment (cause adverse changes to air, water, or land), comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements, and continually improve on the above. ISO 14000 is similar to ISO 9000 quality management in that both pertain to the process (the comprehensive outcome of how a product is produced) rather than to the product itself. As with ISO 9000, certification is performed by third-party organizations rather than being awarded by ISO directly. The ISO 19011 audit standard applies when auditing for both 9000 and 14000 compliance at once. ISO 13485 is an ISO standard, published in 2003 , that represents the requirements for a comprehensive management system for the design and manufacture of medical devices . Compliance with ISO 13485 is often seen as the first step in achieving compliance with regulatory requirements. This standard supersedes earlier documents such as ISO 46001 and ISO 46002 (both 1997 ), the ISO 13485 published in 1996 and ISO 13488 (also 1996). While it remains a stand-alone document, ISO 13845 is aligned to ISO 9001 . A fundamental difference, however, is that ISO 9001 requires the organization to demonstrate continuous improvement, whereas ISO 13485 requires only that they demonstrate the quality system is implemented and maintained. The conformity of Medical Devices and In-vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices according to EEC-decrees 93/42/EEC, 90/385/EEC and 98/79/EEC must be assessed before sale is permitted. The preferred method to prove conformity is the certification of the Quality Management System according ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 / ISO 13488 by a Conformity Assessment Body (CAB). The result of a positive assessment is the authorization for the CE-identification and the permission to sell the high quality medical device. ISO 17025 , "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories" is an ISO standard which differs from " ISO 9000 in that it takes quality management systems a stage further by looking at the competence of the laboratory as well as the fitness for purpose of the quality management system. TL 9000 is a quality management standard for the telecommunication sector, an ISO 9001 variant. TL 9000 QuEST is comprised of US Telecommunications service providers, including Pacific Bell, Bell Atlantic, South-western Bell and others. This group is designated QuEST - Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications. The TL 9000 - 2001 Scheme is based on the ISO 9000/ISO 9001 series focused toward telecommunication service providers and suppliers. The part of TL 9000 that sets it apart from ISO 9001 is the metrics focusing on telecommunications (hardware, software and services considered as "firmware")... The TL Scheme has been available since November 1999. The process of registration is compatible with existent ISO 9000 protocols. Registration Bodies and/or Registrars must comply with a series of requirements pertinent to the telecommunication industry set forth by QuEST Forum (Book One and Book Two, Releases 4.0). Registration bodies may certify to ISO 9001:2000 standard by completing TL 9000, when IOB recognition is not viable. TL 9000 will benefit service providers by presenting guidelines for a management system focusing on service users concurrent with technological advances. It will assist telecommunication providers world-wide by providing management system guidelines. There are 3 sector specifics within TL 9000: (1) Hardware, (2) Software, and (3) Services. A combination, from all three applying to only one, may apply to an organization and which must be defined within the scope of the process and related activities. As noted earlier, version TL 9000:2001 addresses the requirements set forth based on ISO 9001:2000. OHSAS 18001 is an assessment specification for an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. It was developed to help organizations meet their health and safety obligations in an efficient and effective manner.
