The project aims to produce the front cover, contents page, and a double page spread for a new music magazine called "Beat". Photographer Adam Fox plans to shoot rock artist models Jo-Em Opina and Nick Fox in studio and at home, replicating the style of magazine MOJO. High key lighting and post-production effects like drop shadows will be used. The models will wear stereotypical rock clothing like leather jackets and jeans with short hair to look like rock stars and appeal to the target audience. Shooting is planned for November and December 2014.

Project title:
Project:
The denotation of the project is to produce a front caver, contents page and
double page spread of a new music magazine
Photographer:
Technical Codes – a mixture of shot types ranging from MCU to full-
length shots as these are commonly used in my magazine of inspiration
MOJO and I will replicate this to attract my target audience.
Lighting – I will use high key lighting because it will make it easier to see
the image. Artificial lighting in a studio setting may also be used for some
of the images.
Post Production – Some of the effects I intend to apply to the images
post-production are drop shadows as this give the image a 3D effect and
will make it look as if the ‘star’ is coming out of the page and is real.
Reference images and ideas:
The reason for the title ‘Beat’ is that it has musical connotation as beat is major
element of music.
This is an example of the use
of a MCU in MOJO I aim to
replicate.
2. Adam Fox 2052
Casting:
Jo-Em Opina
Nick Fox
Jo-Em is suitable because he regularly wears the cloths that are stereotypical
rock artistic clothing and has the relaxed attitude that rock artists poses. He will
be presented in the front cover and the double page spread as he will be the
main story of my magazine.
When: 20/11/2014
Nick Fox is an appropriate figure to use in
a rock magazine as he wears similar
clothing to the stereotypical rock artist. He
is also of similar age into the older rock
artist as is a good representation of them
to use in my magazine. This will appeal to
This is an example of a
full-length shot and they
are using a chair as a prop,
which ‘signifies’ (De
Saussure) to the reader
the relaxed nature of the
‘star’ and helps build the
relationship between the
reader and the artist.

my audience as it combines both the old and new stars of the rock genre that are
respected and followed by all fans of any age.
When 04/12/2014
Model requirements:
They should be of average height as it will make it easier to obtain the shots.
Wardrobe and Look:
Leather jackets and jeans as this is what the typical rock artist looks like.
Hair and Makeup:
Short hair is common among rock artists so to make them look like rock artists
they must have short hair.
Where: the photo of Jo-Em will be in the studio in the photography classroom.
The photo of Nick will be at home in the living room and then I can superimpose
the image onto a background of a music studio.
See images above - They both show the characteristics of the stereotypical rock
star. They are leather jackets and this is typical clothing for rock artists. They do
not look like any particular star but because of the appetence they are suitable
for my magazine.
Are need a picture of myself for the editor photo as it will build a ‘personal
relationship’ with the readers
