Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel
you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
                       product?
Time management and planning:
• I felt that our preliminary task was not as successful as it could have been
due to poor planning and time management. There were no scripts or
storyboards planning our task, nor planning on when we would film our task
etc. It was all very rushed and last minute. When filming our main task we
made a number of scripts and storyboards allowing us to plan each stage of
our opening. We also were very keen on time management making us more
organised and allowing our task to be more successful!
Editing & Music:
• In our preliminary task we edited our piece together roughly, and didn’t
consider the pace of our editing or the affect it could put across. We also
only downloaded a piece of music and attached it to our task rather than
considered how we wanted the music to sound and what affect we wanted
the music to have on our task, so when creating our main piece we edited
the piece on a different programme, and we considered editing for meaning
more, by altering the different scenes at different paces to create tension
etc. We also created our own piece of music for the piece which we thought
was more appropriate to our task.
• When looking back on our
    preliminary task there are many
aspects that we have picked out and
made sure that we have then
improved on in our final piece. For
    example the location in our
preliminary was not conventional at all
and did not relate to the story we
were trying to get across. Also the
costume did not reflect the genre of
    our film. The lighting wasn’t
    considered. Altogether these made
our task seem less realistic and the
genre of our task was not clear due to
    lack of mise-en-scene. Also the
equipment we used was of bad quality.
• When creating our main task we
considered the problems we had with
    mise-en-scene and editing etc. and
ensured that we had considered all of
these aspects and that it was clear
which genre our task was for! We also
    used better equipment ensuring our
task was to the best quality.
