2. I have included a special offer in my magazine to persuade
people to subscribe to my magazine. They are getting a good
deal every month and it means that they are signed up to
receive the magazine every time it is published for a certain
amount of time. This is good for the institution as they are
getting a constant income and good reader figures.
I have included a plug that is promoting a competition to win tickets to a
popular festival so it catches the audiences attention. Also, readers of my
magazine would enjoy the same music that will be at this festival so it will
attract my audience. Plugs stand out on the front cover, so it is important to
make the content something that the audience wouldn’t want to miss out on.
I have included free posters of well known artists that
people interested in indie rock music would like and be
interested in, therefore they will be more likely to buy
the magazine for the posters. Also, it catches the
audiences eye which may lead them onto looking at the
content of the magazine and then buying it.
3. The word ‘your’ is addressing the audience, making
them feel involved with the magazine and editors etc. It
also makes the reader more likely to enter the
competition, as it tells them that they could be the
ones who will win and go to Leeds festival.
This feature story makes the reader feel like they are
being given exclusive information by buying my magazine.
It makes them feel like they are up to date with the latest
news before any one else, and then they can tell their
friends about the newest bands. Their friends may then
be encouraged to buy my magazine as they want to know
about the latest news and be the person to tell others.
5. From my questionnaire, I discovered that the
majority of people I asked liked to see interviews
and articles about artists. Therefore, to appeal to
my target audience I have made most of my
feature stories interviews with artists and news
about them.
From my audience research, I have found out that
the Arctic Monkeys, Foals and Twenty One Pilots
are popular amongst people. However, I have not
included Twenty One Pilots in my magazine as they
did not fit in with the genre. Also, I have selected a
few artists people mentioned, that fit in with the
indie rock genre, to be featured in my magazine.
6. This tells me what feature
stories my audience would like
to see in my magazine. This
helped me to decide on my
content so it would attract my
audience, for example including
the weeks newest music
releases and lots of interviews
and news about artists.
Images showing what my
target audience are
interested in helped me to
decide what free gifts and
competition prizes to give
away. I am giving the chance
to win tickets to Leeds
festival as this is an event
that is very popular amongst
my target audience.
Knowing the interests of my
target audience has helped
me when deciding what free
gifts and competition prizes
to give away. It has also
helped me when deciding
what content to put in my
magazine, so I am suiting the
needs of my audience.
Knowing the social class of
my target audience has
helped me when pricing my
magazine. I am charging
£2.99 for my magazine so it
is affordable for my
audience, especially for
students as they won’t have
a lot of spare money to
spend on magazines.
