3. To take the photographs for my magazine, I borrowed my mum's Canon 400D camera and
tripod. I chose not to become too involved with all the various options and effects I could use on the
camera, because I would have the chance to edit the photographs after anyway, so I used it in its
simplest form. However, this did not necessarily mean that there were fewer advtantages to using it.
For a start, the camera has 10.1 megapixels which means that the pictures I took were of a higher
quality than they would have been, had I used a standard digital camera. Also, the camera had a
focus point, and I always placed it on one of my models' eyes, in order to maintain their
sharpness. My digital camera only focuses on what it chooses to focus on! Therefore I found this
incredibly helpful.
4. Technologies used in: editing
photos & construction of front
cover and contents page
-Corel Paint Shop Pro X -Adobe Photoshop CS4
5. I have already shown that I used Corel Paint Shop Pro X in the construction of the
‘Paradise Island’ album cover, however it was also useful when editing some of my
photographs at home, when Photoshop wasn’t available to me. Also, I
encountered a problem when constructing my front cover; I
started it at school on Photoshop, then tried to save it into a different format so it was
available to use at home on Corel. However, this failed and the file became
corrupted, therefore I had to construct all of the front cover at home instead.
Corel Photoshop
Corel is not as advanced as Photoshop, so constructing my front cover
was probably the most difficult task, however I did overcome my problems. Corel and
Photoshop both have similar tools and effects etc, but Photoshop offers
more, as highlighted by the screen grabs. This is probably why I think my contents
page is the best of my finished products.
7. InDesign was a completely new programme to me, however it was quite easy to pick up
after being taught a few things by our teacher.
InDesign differs from Photoshop because it allows you to create documents
involving columns (which was obviously needed for our double page spread), and it
does not show any layers on the sidebar, however it does allow you to go back and edit
something whenever you like.
One of my favourite things about InDesign was the drops cap tool, because this
proved incredibly ueful and was a successful aspect of my double page spread.
9. Blogger obviously wasn‘t optional during our projects, but I probably would have chosen it
anyway. It‘s incredibly simple to use but still allows the user to use their
creativity regarding presentation and layout. It also allows you to manage blog
posts easily and efficiently. The labels are a good feature because it means you can
categorise posts and signpost where they are located on your blog.
10. Technologies used in: presenting
ideas in
planning/research/construction
-Prezi -Camera
-Jing
11. •I used Prezi right at the beginning of the project; in the preliminary task. Prezi’s a different
and creative way to display your brainstorms during the planning process.
•I used my digital Nikon Coolpix S3000 camera to take photographs of all the work I did
on paper (mainly flat plans). This was an easy way to upload my ideas to the
computer and onto the blog, seeing as I already know my way around my camera.
•Jing was a programme I installed onto my computer, and this software allows
you to take a screen grab, and either capture an image or
video of it, then upload it onto Screencast.com in order to link it to your blog or
website etc. This was extremely useful as I wasn’t fond of the idea of videoing
what I was doing with just holding up my camera.
12. Technologies used in: evaluation
questions
-Mashup Arts -Voki
-Windows Movie -Slideshare
Maker
13. I used Mashup Arts to present examples of songs my target audience may listen to, in
Question 4 of the evaluation. This was a more creative way to present the
songs, as I could. add different backgrounds and put them on different pages,
but all in one place
Making a Voki animation allowed me to express a visual example of my
target audience. I could change the appearance of the animated person, add an
appropriate background and also a voice. The voice wasn’t entirely desirable, but the
overall effect was successful.
14. Windows Movie Maker allowed me to include both audio and visuals,
including animation. I’d never used this programme before, but again it was hard
to navigate. The only aspect I did not find helpful was that the text you added on images
moved when audio was added, and I kept having to go back and move it again.
I am using Slideshare to upload this presentation from Microsoft. I can acquire
the HTML code and paste it onto my blog. I think this is also a more
creative and interactive way to present my evaulation, because it differs from
me just posting text and pictures directly onto my blog.
15. Technologies used in: every
aspect and process of my work!
-Apple Mac computer -Toshiba laptop
16. I found that the mac was the best and most efficient technology to work
on, because it was a great deal quicker than my laptop at home, however I did
have to divide my time and work with both.
I had worked on a mac before, but not as extensively as I have done when working on
this project. The mac has many more features and interactive
programmes to it, which was a great advantage regarding my work done at
school.
