3. PRELIMINARY TASK
I used:
- InDesign
I used InDesign to
create my college
magazine front
cover and
contents page.
- Blogger
I used Blogger to
upload my tasks and
magazine designs to
my blog, presenting
them in order of what
I have done.
- Slideshare
I used Slideshare to
convert some of my
work into a link that I
can upload to my
blog.
- Photoshop
I used Photoshop to
edit my pictures so
that they look the
best they possibly
can. - Google
Google allowed me to
research existing
college
magazines, helping
me to know what
codes and
conventions to use.
- Word
I used Word to write
up my college
magazine
questionnaire on.
4. PRELIMINARY TASK CONCLUSION
The only programmes I has used previously before starting this coursework were
Google and Photoshop, the other three were new to me so it took me a while to
fully understand them however they are all relatively simple and take you through
it step by step themselves, along with help and guidance from my teacher.
I found InDesign the most challenging programme to use out of all of them as
there are a lot of buttons and possible tools to use, however with the help from
the tutorials I slowly got to grips with it and managed to successfully create my
college magazine in a professional way.
Blogger was extremely easy to use and I understood straight away how to upload
my work onto my blog, reassuring myself that I wouldnât have any struggle
uploading my work further on in my coursework.
I developed a specific skill whilst using Blogger by converting my InDesign pages
into images and uploading them onto my blog as an image.
5. RESEARCH
- Google
Google allowed me to
research existing
magazine institutions
and helped me find
magazine front
covers, contents pages
and double page
spreads to analyse.
- Blogger
I used Blogger to
upload my tasks to
my blog, presenting
them in order of what
I have done.
- Slideshare
I used Slideshare to
convert some of my
work into a link that I
can upload to my
blog.
- Powerpoint
I used Powerpoint
for the majority of
my Research
section, presenting
my work in a neat
way.
- Survey Monkey
I used Survey Monkey to
create a survey and find out
what conventions people
expect to see within a pop
magazine.
I used:
6. RESEARCH CONCLUSION
After having used the majority of these programmes before in my preliminary
task, I found them quick and easy to use again.
I chose to present most of my work on Powerpoint as this is very easy and simple
to use, allowing people to view my work systematically slide by slide. I then used
Slideshare to convert it into a format to then put onto my blog.
This was the first time I had used Survey Monkey before. I found it quite confusing
at first with all the different options to choose from, however after I created my
first two questions, I slowly got the hang of it and now fully understand how to use
it.
7. PLANNING
- Powerpoint
I used Powerpoint for the majority of my Planning
section, presenting my work in a neat and orderly
way.
- Slideshare
I used Slideshare to
convert some of my
work into a link that I
can upload to my
blog.
- Google
Google allowed me to get
some images for my mood
board and also provided me
with the website
âdafont.comâ which I got my
font from.
- Blogger
I used Blogger to
upload my work to
my blog, presenting it
in order of what I
have done.
- Word
I used Word to write
up my location
recces and call sheet.
- InDesign
I used InDesign to
create my front
cover, contents
page and double
page spread mock
ups.
- Mobile Phone
I used my phone to get in
contact with some of my
models and recorded all of
their numbers within my
phone.
- Facebook
I used Facebook to
get in contact with
some of my models.
I used:
8. PLANNING CONCLUSION
After having used InDesign in my preliminary task, I found it a lot easier to use this
time round when creating my mock ups â especially after making 3 mock ups for
each page, developing more of an understanding for the programme the more I used
it.
I mainly used my email account to get in contact with my models however I also made
a record of their numbers so that I could get hold of them easily in case I needed to.
I decided to use Word to present my location recces and call sheet in a table as it
looks neat and is extremely easy to produce.
9. PRODUCTION
- Photoshop
I used Photoshop to
edit my pictures so
that they look the
best they possibly
can.
- InDesign
I used InDesign to
create my final front
cover, contents page
and double page
spread.
- Blogger
I used Blogger to
upload my work to
my blog, presenting it
in order of what I
have done.
- Canon 1000D
Camera
I used my digital camera
to take my pictures for my
magazine.
I used:
10. PRODUCTION CONCLUSION
The digital camera that I used produced great quality images for my magazine, which
I then uploaded and used Photoshop to edit them. After having briefly used
Photoshop in my preliminary task and before that, I knew what I was doing and just
used the basic editing tools, enhancing my images and making them bright and
colourful to clearly represent the pop genre.
After using InDesign quite frequently in previous tasks, I fully understood how to use
it to the best of my ability, allowing me to create a successful and professional
looking magazine.
12. EVALUATION CONCLUSION
I used Prezi for two of my evaluation questions. I have used this programme previously
but it was very brief, so it took me a while to get the hang of it again but it is pretty simple
once you get going and has tutorials to help show you what to do. It is a great way to
create a fun and interesting mind map of your ideas and choices.
I used Pixton for another two of my evaluation questions. I had never used this
programme before however I understood it straight away due to the tutorials available and
it takes you through how to use it step by step, making it easy for me yet still producing a
creative form of presenting my answer.
I used Bubbl.us for one of my questions and found this extremely simple and easy to
use, showing my answer clearly and systematically in order.
I used Powerpoint for this question in particular. After having used Powerpoint for the
majority of my coursework I understood completely how to use it and also added in the
interactive feature with the hyperlink arrows directing you to that particular page, making
it easy and accessible for the audience.
