your media product
use, develop or
challenge forms and
conventions of real
media?

2. Our media text conformed to the
generic conventions of horror in
that, our character tried to
emulate 'Patrick Bateman' with
his suave characteristics. The
generic convention of a slasher
film usually has a male
protagonist character who is
typically a middle aged white
male however, in our production
we challenged the stereotype and
used a young black male.

3. Another generic convention of a slasher film
uses gory murder scenes and blood to make the
audience feel the pain of the victim. In our
production, we used costume make up to
stimulate violence and gore. This represents
slasher and sets the storyline for the movie
ensuring the audience knows the genre of the
movie.

4. The isolated scenes of the victim is a play on all the
isolated locations of 'Halloween' and 'insidious 2'.
Slasher films often use isolated locations such as
warehouses or in a forest to kill victims. We used this
generic convention in our production for the scenes on
the victim in the studio room. This conveys
confinement and helplessness enhancing the
masochistic behaviour of the audience.
