Values Audit
“Values make us accept certain things and reject others - how we act and what we say present our
attitudes.”(Watson J, 2013). The personal value could confirm your merits and weakness, realize
how others evaluate you. According to (Taylor J, 2012), Values could determine how you do, and
provide a guidance for your life choose. The six personal values could influence my life choices
are:
Family: Parents could encourage your career and listen to your problems.
Respect: “not respect others, is not respect yourself.” respect could build relationship and obtain
respects.
Friendship: good friends could provide useful suggestions and make the guidance.
Patient: “Patience and perseverance will always get paid”. Possess patience, you can do things
more carefully, avoid mistakes.
Giving: “Gifts of roses, hand a fragrance”. Obtain happy and others help.
Leadership: reveal your ability, provide an experience.
The five hard skills for further accounting study are:
Accounting skill: help me obtain more relative accounting knowledge.
Auditing principle skill: related to accounting, enrich my knowledge and horizon.
Computer skill: deal with the accounting data faster and more accurate with the software.
Writing skill: improve your ability to organize language, express my ideas accurately.
Typing speed: allow me record the data accurately in limited time, and maintain the positivity of
the brain.
2. Capability Audit
Through communication, establish good friendships with others, continued to build a strong social
support network, (Anxiety BC, 2016). When I got a part time job at a Chinese restaurant in
Melbourne, an old man came to our restaurant and he wanted to get two dishes for his wife’s
birthday. When he showed the restaurant vouchers, however, vouchers cannot be used on
weekends. I told him this limit, and told the leader about this special situation. After
communicating with the leader and the old man, the boss allowed vouchers in used today, and
gave the old man two dishes for celebration. Also, as a waiter, I am able to help customers choose
their favorite meals, and try to provide good service.
It is worth mention that organizational and administrative skills play an important role in daily life.
When I studied at Melbourne, I invested my Chinese friends in we chat group. As for the leader, I
need to organize the activities every month, and do the event of managing people. In this group,
we could chat with each other and share our minds. I think this could improve my organizational
skills and get along with friends.
Teamwork provides opportunities and a sense of belonging for everyone, in order to help each
other and work together.（Business Case Studies, 2015）. Therefore, the ability of cooperation in
team activity is very significant. During the group work in BPD1 and BPD2 course at VU, I
learned the meaning and importance of teamwork, how to contribute my strengths to help the team
get better results. Meanwhile, I have learned to more cooperation skills and became more
confident to communicate with others. This plays an important role in my future study.
Customer service is to provide assistance to customers to help customers solve problems. As for
individuals, it could accumulate work experience, help to improve interpersonal and
communication skills. As I was a volunteer of Environmental obligations propaganda of Shandong
Province, I had to hand out leaflets at that time and help to clean the public facilities, explained
environmental knowledge patiently to the residents. This activity trained my patience and
enthusiasm, and developed my customer service skill.
3. According to (MindTools, 2016), Project management is the process to manage the project in
limited times in the organization. Under normal circumstances, it needs to confirm the scope of
the project, the available resources and time constraints. At the summer in 2015, I had an
internship experience at an accounting firm. The project is to classify the accounts and audit work.
We were asked to review of corporate financial statements and audit reports. Meanwhile, we
needed to participate in the preparation of the report, audited financial statements and accounting
statements. According to the experience, I have learned a lot, and improve my management skills.
The skill I need to develop is the organizational skill, because this ability could improve my
judgment ability, accurate response to emergencies, so I should consider a plan to address the skill
gap. The basic point is to study more, expand my knowledge and horizon. Then, I need to
understand deeply about the logic judgment knowledge, learn more methods of organization. At
the free time, I can communicate with people who have strong ability of organization. Also, after
graduating, I have to take practice in the company, gain more experience and improve my
organizational skills.
Elevator Pitch
Elevator Pitch is that make a short abstract of yourself and business, short enough is between
floors and in elevator. (Greene J, 2013). Three points should be considered in the Pitch, 30
seconds or less, reveal one skill, a goal should be mentioned. (Brown L, 4.2015).
Hi, my name is Xin Lun Li (Mark), I am currently studying an bachelor degree at the Victoria
University. My major is accounting, and also I have learned for hotel management and human
resource management course in this period. I have experienced in China Construction Bank and
Shandong Jinan accounting firm for about a month, I am good at capital accounting for the
company's audit certificate, preparation of financial statements, calculate the depreciation of fixed
assets. It has enriched my knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting and
auditing, which allows me to have a deeper understanding of accounting. I have a good academic
result, abundant experience for volunteers and part-time, so I'm looking forward to join your
company.
4. My personal values are family, respect, friendship, patient, giving, leadership. This plays a
magnificent role in my life and guide my future targets. During studying at school, the skills I
acquired such as accounting skills, auditing skills, computer skills are important in dealing with
accounting work. Meanwhile, during the practice in the bank and accounting firm, I gradually
cultivate my patience and careful, I could try my best to avoid the accounting mistakes in
analyzing and calculating. My values, my ability and education, provide an irreplaceable help for
future career, make me have a deep understanding of accounting development. I believe I can
continue to improve my value and overcome some shortcomings, contribute my strength in the
company.
