Many years ago, in a small town in Valencia there was a mystery
that was never solved. A group of four friends 11-year-old classmates at
the same school named Manel, Claudia, Patricia and José Angel, went to
visit an abandoned house where there was a witch and a ogre living.
Manel and José Angel dared to enter in that abandoned house,
while Claudia and Patricia stayed outside taking care of the bicycles.
Two hours passed, Manel and José Angel didn´t come back, and
then Claudia and Patricia entered in the mysterious house. The two girls
were frightened because noises were heard in the house. Patricia ran to
the door, but the door wouldn´t opened. Claudia got nervous and started
to scream. Then noises began to be heard on the second floor of the
house. The two girls started to go up to the stairs, the sound was getting
louder and louder; they walked through a dark corridor. Suddenly the
noises stopped; for a moment the silence invaded the house.
It started to hear a sound like the engines of the cars; Claudia
opened one of the doors of that abandoned house, and………..in that
room there were Manel and José Angel!! They were playing with toy cars.
One of our colleagues started to notice a very strong smell that came from
the roof.
The four children went to the attic from where the smell came from
and Manel took out a lighter and lit a candle that was on the table. They
saw a painting that looked real and José Angel realized that the person
who was painted on the painting had moving eyes.
Manel started to run through the attic; then the others get scared to see
their friend so nervous; Manel explained them what happened and they
began to observe the painting. The painting started to speak and
explained them that before being a drawing it was an ogre that lived
happily in his country. The children asked him who turned him into a
drawing. The ogre replayed that a witch named Maruja, who lived in that
house did it to him. Then they started to hear a stronger and stronger
footsteps; the kids began to get scared and suddenly through the attic
door an old woman with many warts appeared. The painting began to
scream the name of Maruja the witch.
The neighbors who lived near that abandoned house explained that
the last sound they heard in that old house was the screams of those
children who dared to enter in that abandoned house.
