2. Main image - This is the person/band that the
article is based on it is usually a medium shot
with the person looking down the lens of the
camera to create a relationship with the reader.
Also this image uses a bleeding technique as the
image covers both pages creating a bigger image
for the reader to look at. Most DPS’s use this
technique as it does not even any white space.
The setting of the images are usually the same
they are usually a studio setting with a spotlight
shining on the person who the article is based
one and them looking straight down the lens of
the camera making eye contact with the reader.
3. Colour Scheme - this magazine has used a black, white
and pink colour scheme, Magazines use 2-3 colours to
keep it simple and professional this is so that it also does
not mess with the readers eyes and make it hard to read.
Colour schemes on magazines are very important as
colours grab the readers attention so it is key to use a
mixture of bright and dark colours so that it is bright and
catches the readers eye but also isn't too much so that the
dark balances it out and creates a nice colour scheme
that is easy on readers eyes.
4. Drop Caps- Drop Caps are on the page
to make it easier for the reader to find
where the paragraph starts as if it was
small they could get confused and start
at a different point.
Page numbers- Located in the bottom
corners of the page these are there to
make it easier to navigate around the
magazine.
5. Line Breaks - Line breaks are there so
that people reading it know where the
new paragraphs and information +
details come in.
Body the body of this double page
spread is split into 3 columns and 2 of
them have line breaks. This is so it is
layed out professionally and looks
clean. The columns are also used so
that the text can fit onto one page as
the main image usually takes up a
page on its own due to it being who
the article is based on.
6. Headline - The headline on this image is red on a
white background and is has used a font different to
the text in the article so that it stand out to the
reader. It is also the Biggest font on the page so
that it stands out again and makes sure that the
reader know who and what the article is about.
They have also used an effect on the font to make it
look like it has been painted into the wall and it
blends in with the environment of the main image.
Sometimes Magazines will use puns in their
headlines which are usual subtle and do not hint at
much in the article. Some magazines do not even
use headlines as they think the reader should
already know who the article is based on.
