2. Basic facts
◦ Iceland is an island with
only 350.000 people. Its
size is 103.000 km².
◦ The capital city is Reykjavík, it
is the northernmost capital in
the world.
◦ The Icelandic nation is defined
by its dramatic landscape with
volcanoes, hot springs and
lava fields.

3. Splitting in two parts
◦ Iceland is an island in the Atlantic ocean
between America and Europe. West Iceland is
part of America and the east part of Iceland
belongs to Europe. You can see on the picture
above, the line which divides Iceland.
◦ The North American plate and Eurasian plate
(europe+asia) are departing and thus stretching
Iceland.
4. Beaches in IcelandBeaches in Iceland
Most of the beaches in Iceland are all black sand beaches.
Young kids love to collect stones and seashells from the beach.
Nauthólsvík is a friendly beach in Reykjavík that has hot tubs and
little space for kids to play. It´s very popular to go to that beach in
summer with friends and family and have a good time.

◦ Many fjords around Iceland are long and it can take time to drive around them.

◦ A big part of Icelandic export is fish, which is sold all
around the world.
◦ Cod and Haddock are among the most popular types of
fish.
