2. Facts about Norway
Norway is a country with a long
coast. About 5.5 million people
live in Norway. Oslo is our capital.
The temperature in the winter can
be up to - 54°C in the coldest
parts, and in the summer time
can the warmest places be
around 9 to 25°C
Norway has a beautiful nature
which means that many tourists
visit us. We have high mountains,
many beaches and long fjords.
Preikestolen is one of the most
famous mountains in Norway.

4. We have a lot of oil in Norway.
Stavanger is the biggest city
nearby where we live, and it’s
called “ The oil capital”.
There are many fishing boats
especially in the North of
Norway.
We sell a lot of fish to other
countries.
5. Northern light.
The Northern light is a green
light that shines in the sky at
night time or night fall.
It is very beautiful. The auroras
can be explained as an
interaction of the solar wind
and the Earth’s magnetic field.
You find it for the most time in
the north of Norway.

7. 17th May
17th May is our national day in Norway
17th May we dress up nice, eat icecream
and the schools walk in parades.
Constitution day is the national day of
Norway and is an official public holiday
observed on 17 may each year. Among
Norwegians, the day is referred to as
syttende mai.

9. Sandnes
Sandnes is a place in Rogaland where
Sviland is.
It’s around 83 000 people in Sandnes.
And there are many places to visit.
In Sandnes we have a famous man who
runs, his name is Jakob Ingebrigtsen. He
is a long distance runner. He currently is
holding the world record for indoor 1500
meters and 2000 meters.
11. Winterland
In Sandnes there is a place
named Ruten and when it is
december it turns in to winterland.
In Winterland there is an ice rink,
a Ferris wheel and something
called the Winterland Express. We
have many stalls that sell a lot of
different things such as sweets,
food, hot drinks, clothes and much
more than that. There is a fire
place where you can melt
marshmallows and you can grill
there as well.

13. Sviland
Sviland is a small place in
Sandnes.
We have nice places to
visit like Aboreet, Melsheia,
and Sviland BMX track.
Aboreet is a nature park
and in Melsheia there are
several small mountains
with hiking options.

15. Sviland BMX
Sviland BMX is the biggest
BMX track in Europe. The
BMX track is very big and
the most popular BMX track
in Norway. This track always
has the Norwegian
championship finals.

17. Sviland school
Our school has about 140 students from 1.-7. grade.
Our vision at school is “Together about learning and
happiness”.
Our new school was built in 2021 but the old school
the old school was built in 1967.
Besides the classrooms and offices, the school has 8
special rooms like arts & craft, science, library, music,
kitchen and SFO (after-school program).
We also work a lot with qualities named “Smart Upbringing”
in our school. It is qualities like helpfulness, courage, self-
control, happiness, thankfulness and many more.
Our school also has its own song named “Sviland-sangen”
created by our former principle.
