To Whom It May Concern:
As the Academic Advisor for the Honors College and Instructor for Religious Studies at Florida International
University, I meet and work with hundreds of students each semester. Occasionally, a student like Vivian
Kaufman steps into my class or office for advising.
Vivian is unique. She is undeniably intelligent – but she is so much more.
Vivian lights up the room when she walks in. She has an infectious way about her that is impressive and
refreshing. On numerous occasions, I have leaned on her to assist and guide other students who are having
difficulties understanding the learning material, and she has done so without reservation. She is a leader –
someone who is passionate and dedicated to all her efforts through example.
As a member of the Honors College here at FIU, Vivian has performed massive amounts of volunteer work
over the summers helping children how to read and write. She was awarded for her participation in national
and international Model UN. Vivian has work experience, internship experience and holds the foundation to be
a high functioning adult out in the real world. She is fluent in English and Spanish and knows basic Hebrew.
Vivian approaches everything she does with a fervor that is unmatched. She takes ownership of her
responsibilities and empowers those around her to follow suit. She embodies everything that a leader should
be. She has proven herself to be a tremendous asset to the Honors College, the university, and the community
at large. It is a sincere privilege to have her as one of our students.
Hardworking, dedicated, well-rounded, and a superior academic, I believe Vivian is an excellent candidate for
