DRE,W & ASSOCIATE,S
To Whom It May Concern:
I am honored to submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Tram Dinh. I have known "Iris" ever
since she was a student in a course I taught on human resource management while I was an Assistant
Professor of Management at Hope International University (HOPE). At the time I was at HOPE, we were
the seventh ranked Christian business school in the nation.
In addition to teaching at HOPE, I have also taught at the University of Oregon and at Williams College in
MA. I can say with great confidence that lris has extraordinary community organizingand management
skills. At a time when most international students are undergoing culture shock, Iris was extremely
influential and helpful in developing our student seryice programs at the university. She was a pleasure to
work with and she immediately gained true friends and loyal associates.
Her talents have, of course, been recognized earlier by the University of Hanoi, where she played a key role
in helping develop a connection between our two universities in the first place. In the process of negotiating
these two cultures, she has displayed uncommon flexibility, cheerfulness, and stead fast commitment to
producing positive results.
The courses I taught while I was at HOPE involved writing and sharing your work with other students on-
line. With up to 12 students per class, this procedure ended up being quite a challenge due to the fact that
each student, in effect, had an international audience. Students in China and Europe had an opportunity to
view her reactions to the literature, lectures, and other course materials. In this highly competitive and
visible setting, she displayed a deep thoughtfulness, a playful sense of humor, a consistently kept up with a
challenging work load. She easily held her own in classes that were filled with missionaries overseas,
military personnel, and seasoned business leaders.
With my encouragement, I am proud to share, she started an internship with the Vietnamese American
Chamber of Commerce. In that role, she has quickly adapted to the demands of the U.S. business
environment and has already produced positive financial results for the Chamber through her listening skills,
understanding of others, and flourish for creating outstanding and convincing marketing materials and
leading effective special events.
I suppose the dream ofevery teacher is to see their students go on to enjoy phenomenal success in all areas of
their lives. While I was teaching at HOPE between 2002 and2007,I worked with at least 20 students who
did a stellar job at applying what I was teaching with great success in the real world. In many of those cases,
I wonder whether or not the students would have been as successful without me. In the case of lris, however,
I can assure you that her discipline, cheerfulness and natural charisma would have allowed her to succeed no
matter what. I feel privileged to have worked with her to make her path a little easier, and I'm expecting
great achievements of her in the future.
Accordingly, I recommend her to you as a extremely bright and gifted student who will no doubt soon
overwhelm you with her ability to work, to learn and to get things done.
Sincerely.
-,//:
