7. Write poems that are fun and
nonthreatening.
Incorporate choice.
• let students choose what type
of poem they want to write.
Put students in charge.
• give students the freedom to express their
imaginative side through their own means
8. Focus on reading comprehension.
Do not kill a poem by coming at it from
too many angles.
We over kill the poem by:
• discuss it,
• write about it,
• complete a project on it,
• and then memorize it.

Arnel is a name that may seem unremarkable
But he's family centred, diligent, kind and lovable
Victor and Lerma are his siblings whom he truly misses
God, me, and our children, is he loves at all instances.
He's happy when he's with us, sad when he's not, excited when he's coming by.
He gives me love, joy, family that money cannot buy.
Above all he fears God, losing his job and a broken family.
He wants to see that we complete our studies, that we are safe and happy.
He lives in a house that he built with his own hands.
Carbonel is his last name, that when he changed mine, I didn't mind.
