"How do you Spend Time with Grandchildren?"- Filmed Round Table Talk
This research was carried out
following initial questionnaire evaluation and
assessment modality of leisure in the
company of grandparents.
Grandchildren and grandparents in
the current period not establish natural
connections for transmission of knowledge
and moral values that characterized
traditional societies for millennia.
Communication barriers were
determined by reducing time spent in the
company of older generation due to the
influence exerted by social media,
urbanization, migration.

In these conditions it is important
from the perspective of grandchildren
calculating a quality time spent in the
company of grandparents, during which socio-
emotional ties to be exploited on full potential
in holistic development of the young
generation.
Expectations from both generations
are different but what is important in our view
as teachers is to identify commonalities to
develop educational activities in kindergarten,
primary school classes based on these links
and to organize educational contexts in which
to involve grandchildren and grandparents.
4. A12-Workshop with Grandparents:
"How do you Spend Time with Grandchildren?"- Filmed Round Table Talk
In designing questions in the
questionnaire both grandparents and
grandchildren in roundtable was conducted by
educational principles , purpose of our
research staff, time and familiarity
interviewees.
Questions were opened-answers to
facilitate communication between respondents
and to build the structure of answers and to
determine viable solutions to the problems and
needs identified in our local community.
In some context were added some
questions that guided grandparents or
grandchildren in a certain direction not to
deviate from the main goal of this roundtable.
5. A12-Workshop with Grandparents:
"How do you Spend Time with Grandchildren?"- Filmed Round Table Talk
Participation of grandparents was
very important they giving complex answers
and proving a constructive critical sense in both
way educating the younger generation and the
fact at their age are open to learning new
things from their grandchildren as technology,
social-media and foreign languages.
Our project team from school selected
a grandparents of kindergarten ,primary school,
secondary school classes because they( all
grandparents community) wanted to participate
in large number to this table talk but time and
space limited to make this filmed round table
talk not allowed us to talk with so many
grandparents.
6. A12-Workshop with Grandparents:
"How do you Spend Time with Grandchildren?"- Filmed Round Table Talk
Our grandparents have asked to be
invited more often in school activities, and
expressed their support to make various
volunteering or extracurricular activities to
spend more time with their grandchildren,
teachers and other grandparents in the local
community.
They want school to become a center
of socializing and learning in both experiential
and social context of the new education.
They possess a rich professional and
personal experience they want to send to
their grandchildren and school teachers and
want to be involved in the school
extracurricular or optional activities in which
they propose to facilitate this type of learning.

Opening the school to the community is
a positive lesson and is the beginning of a fruitful
collaboration between generations. Grandparents
will feel valued , grandchildren will spend more
time in the company of older generations will
have a holistic emotional development.
Teachers will learn methods of non-
formal and experiential learning and local
community will benefit.
Proposals came from the actors
involved in this roundtable will be prerequisites
for the establishment of other local/regional
initiatives and institutional development projects.
We are proud of the relationships
established until now and constant support
provided by the grandparents community and the
positive influence of grandparents in the two-
year project.
9. A12-Workshop with Grandparents:
"How do you Spend Time with Grandchildren?"- Filmed Round Table Talk
Grandparents are always full of
amazing stories and children love to hear
them. It is always fun for kids to imagine their
older relatives as kids and listen to their
adventures when they were little.
Of course, with wisdom that comes
with years, grandparents are bound to tell the
most engaging stories that will always have
some good moral that kids will pick up on,
especially if they know that someone close to
them actually had that experience and that it
is not just talk.
Basically, by listening to
grandparents’ stories, children can make their
first step of learning from other people’s
mistakes and life experiences.
Thank you grandparents!
