2. Leaves
• They produce food of the plant.
• They contain a green substance called
chlorophyll.
• The process of making food with the
help of sunlight, water, carbon dioxide
and chlorophyll is called
Photosynthesis.
4. • Plants get rid of excess water in the form
of water vapour from the surface of
leaves. This is known as Transpiration.
5. leaf structure
• petiole: it joins the blade to the stem.
• blade: it is the flat part of the leaves.
– It has veins. Veins carry water and
minerals.
– It has stomata: they are tiny pores that
the plant uses for respiration.
10. • The outer most circle of the flower is
made of sepals.
• Sepals are generally green in colour.
• Sepals holds the petals.
• Petals are mostly brightly coloured to

• Within the petals stamens are present.
11. • Stamens contains a yellow dust called the
pollen grains.
• The inner most part of the flower is called
the pistil.
• In the flower takes place the reproduction
of the plants.
• The flower makes fruit and seeds.
13. • Scattering of seeds away from the mother
plant is called dispersal of seeds.
• Dispersal of seed is important to reduce
competition for water and other nutrients.
• When a seed gets proper air, water, and
heat, it grows into a new plant. This process
is called germination.
