2. Why study Philippine History?
• As a college student, the reason of studying Philippine history is to learn,
know and be enlightened by the defeats and victorious event of the past.
Philippines is our country and in order for us to understand our
environment and ourselves too, we must know what mold us that only can
be found in the history. Our traditions and cultures, maybe adapted by
colonial times or evolved by learning things, is only can be learned in deep
searching. As a citizen of the Philippines and in my teenage years, it is
helpful for me to study the past of my land as a response for my growing
curiosity. We know that as we grow older, we tend to have growing
questions too about so many things in our lives, why things are happening
in this kind of approach and what are the reasons behind the feuds of
political families. Having said that, we will understand why we need to
study our country’s past.
