1 Idea in 10 Bullet Points
• The first thing you see is a police station. Then files appear so the
investigator takes a look at it
• Then files appear so the investigator takes a look at it. When the files are
opened a picture comes up with a mysterious girl on it
• Then there is a flashback and another scene begins...
• The girl is praying in church asking God for forgiving her sins (murderer).
She leaves and is on her way home
• When she gets home, her step father is sleeping drunk on the sofa so she
goes to sleep
• The next scene is an establishing shot of a school.
• The little girl is walking around and stops
• She's staring at a memorial display of a student who was stabbed to death.
• As she is staring at it her face looks regretful
• She runs to the toilet. Falls down on the ground and starts crying her eyes
out.
Details
• I got inspiration from the following films :
-The Orphan
-Omen
-Case 39
- Insidious
• I got inspiration from the following film opening sequences:
-The Orphan ( I like this open sequence because it surprises the audience and expects the
unexpected)
-Scream (I like this open sequence because it isn't long and its entertain. It doesn't get bored !
• Basic Story :
An investigation is carried out about mysterious murders with only one killer. The main
suspect is a girl named Jessie. However it is not clear and the truth is revealed at the end.
• This story is suitable for my subgenre because...it contains murder. A lot of mystery but
it is clear. My story also has an investigation with plenty of action happening.
• The Characters are:
-Jessie
She is a innocent girl but suspiciously innocent. Has no mother lives with a step
father who is an alcoholic.
-Detective He is very ambitious about his job and will not let go until he does it good.
-Step Dad Is careless about his daughter. Became an alcoholic after his wife has died. He
can be abusive.

The conventions applied are : An detective investigating murderer. Innocent girl is
the villain. Villain does not com from a good family.
The location for this idea would be filmed at : A school where the main character
is bullied. A field where the murderer happens. The old house where the girl
(Jessie) lives.
The narrative structure would be explicit. It is very basic and clear . Audience
would not be confused . However because it is a crime-thriller it may be implicit
because it also has a investigation so some parts maybe be a bit unclear or
hidden

•

•

.

The enigma for the audience is: How was the girl (Jessie) killed after the
investigation has been completed. And who has done this.
The target audience for this idea would be around ages 15-20, so the youth. This
is because teenagers like adventures something to get them scared. They like
murder and the tension they get while watching crime-thrillers films.

Esere- Idea In Detail
I got inspiration from the following films/ programmes:
•

I got my inspiration from the following opening sequences:
•
Crossword- the storyline was unique
•
Psyche- Fits the conventions of Thrillers- urban areas, black and white
Basic story:
•
Woman has an illness which makes her believe that she is being attacked, whereas that’s not the case
The story is suitable for my subgenre because:
•
Its inline with the conventions of Crime and Thriller yet some are challenged such as the character stereotypes
Characters stereotypes portrayed as ‘use’ but are challenged:
•

•
Interior domestic house, urban areas
Narrative Structure:
•
Restrictive- to keep the suspense

I got inspiration from the following films:

I got inspiration from the following film opening sequence:
Memento, Kill Bill Vol.1
Basic story:
The story is suitable for my subgenre because it has a lot of enigma’s and suspense in it
The characters are represented as vulnerable and regretful
The conventions I applied are:
Suspense and mysterious
The locations for this idea would be filmed at a house then near by river then back at a
house.
The narrative structure would be non-linear because it doesn’t go in the three linear
