1. Mise-en-scene:
The background for my magazine will be plain as rap/hip-hop magazines tend to have this
feature as it allows the main image to stand out. My background will be pure white as it
symbolizes purity and newness and represents the fact that my artist is new.
The artist will fill the frame either using a medium-shot or a medium-long shot to show her
femininity. The texts will surround the model to give the magazine an edge and to represent
the fact that the image is the main focus.
The model will wear make up to reflect her femininity and will also wear costume showing
off her femininity, for example a belly top and crop top with skinny black jeans.
The composition will be clear and professional. It will reflect the genre of rap and appeal to
my target audience. It will also the audience to clearly visualise the magazine along with the
model.
Everything will come together to form a traditional, modern yet urban magazine which will
appeal to males and reflect the rap genre.
Font Ideas
The fonts I will use will be in san serif and bold replicating the ‘Vibe’ magazine as it is
effective, eye catchy and relates to the rap genre. The font will be in. However, the text will
differ to the masthead. It will be Old Sans Black underline.
The font of the masthead will be big and bold. The colour will be black to conform the
background and to maintain a traditional yet urban look.
The fonts for the cover/sell lines will be bold but not as bold as the masthead, depending on
the stories of the cover/sell lines. The colours used will be dark blue to attract male attention
The fonts on the contents page will be the same as the sell lines to maintain continuity. It will
most probably be in a bold Old sans Black font.
