used for coordinating ground soldiers, as well as direct fighting
4. Pilots as heroes
In the 20's, pilots were
seen as the modern hero;
Brave, adventurous, willing
to risk their lives to fly.
Some, like Richard E. Byrd and Charles Lindbergh
amazed the public with daring flying feats, such as
Lindbergh's solo flight across the Atlantic.
Others, like Amelia Earhart, made headway in female aviation
by doing things no one – not even men – had done before.
