ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor . M
Omar Rahman for granting us the opportunity to be a part of LFE201 course which is not limited
to a course, but a life time experience indeed.
Live-in-field experience is a unique course offered to the students of the Independent University
Bangladesh. The basic thought behind the LFE coursework is to introduce students to the idea of
the rural life and its related problems. It also helps us to understand the rural people, their
sufferings, their emotions and their patience.
First of all, for this remarkable course I would like to thanks our Coordinator Mrs.Tasmia
Farzana. Her supervision and inspiration will be remembered always. The instruction given by
her was very effective and encouraged all of us to carry out the fieldwork.
Then, I would like to show my gratitude towards our respected and amazing faculties they
supported us in each and every aspect throughout the whole LFE201 course. Without their
warmth support and encouragement this LFE trip would be so monotonous. For their friendliness
and understanding personalities we upheld the trip without our parents and families.
I would also like to thanks all of the monitors (NasrinSapna, Bayzid Ahmed Shakhar,SufiBayzid
and TaskinTaosib) they all supported us in almost every kind of difficulties like brothers and
sister. Whether it was about the survey input or our personal problem, they were always there to
help us out in any matter as like a family.
Moreover, I would like to thanks all my LFE mates and especially my roommates and my pair .
Without all this caring, funny, crazy and entertaining people my LFE journey wouldn’t be that
much memorable.
After that I would like to thank all the village peoples who helped us and provided valuable
information to us which made our field work lot easier. Without their cooperation it could be so
hard for me and my pair to complete field work properly. And also thank village peoples for
teaching us about life, struggles of life and how to overcome those struggles in life and teaching
us something about the actual lifestyle of human being.
Lastly, I would like to thanks all the stuff members (specially khaled uncle ) and guides of RRF
Tarc,Jessore. They gave their sincere effort in order to fulfill all our needs. If we wouldn’t have
had such facilities, we would not have been able enjoy the precious experiences of LFE.

INTRODUCTION
Bangladesh is a creating nation so there are numerous contrasts amongst urban and provincial
territories in light of the fact that the country region is not as create as the urban zone. The rustic
individuals don't have the open doors as the urban individuals in the distinctive segment. Floods
and cyclones frequently cause severe damage to lives and livelihoods, especially to the poor
women who remain particularly vulnerable.
The Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement
Project, known as NutonJibon project, aims to
improve the livelihoods and quality of life of the
rural poor, especially the poorest and most
vulnerable households. There for the investigation
of the rustic zone is vital to know the requirements
and needs of the town individuals.
The (LFE) life is giving us the opportunity to be
part of something completely different from
working life. We were taken to Jessore to conduct
our survey. Me and My pair were assigned
belonging to the village of Vatpara.
Studies on Vatpara village are a reflection of the
rural Bangladesh. Through this report I tried to
analyze the village area, its social change till date,
economic condition, including agriculture, health
and sanitation, environmental, educational.
Vatpara is a small developing village. The village
economic is most of dependent on agriculture and
land business. The village is enlightened by the light
of education. Especially the female education and
empowerment, decreasing rates of early marriage,
development in communication system is the most optimistic sign of this village. But the
darkness of population growth, dowry, superstitions and pollution are awkward the possible
greater rate of development. But we hope to see a developed new vatpara in the coming days.
So LFE bridges the gap between our historical knowledge and the present, rural and urban life
through an empirical study of the roots of our culture.
Page | 7
OBJECTIVES OF LFE
It is basic to us that a man without a point resembles a ship without a rudder in the sea. The
principle target of IUB to direct LFE is to make comfortable the understudies with the rustic life
and give some individual genuine and field involvement to them. To accomplish the purpose of
LFE, IUB wanted to lead an examination by its understudies in some provincial area. The IUB
understudies must be made mindful of this circumstance, so they started to consider approaches
to take care of issues and along these lines open up open doors for further social and monetary
development. And likewise iub tech to how to persuade individuals with understudies functions.
The general targets of the LFE are expressed beneath:
 To familiarize urban IUB students with the rural communities as almost 75% of the total
population of Bangladesh live in villages.
 To learn about the roots of our village culture and tradition.
 To know how they are surviving and life style of village’s people.
 To study the awareness of the people regarding education of the designated village.
 To understand the people’s psychology, perception of a good living and expectations
from life.
 To find the level of poverty of the village
 To learn about the social economy condition of the village people.
 To learn House hold information about the demography and the social status of all
members of family)
 To find out the literacy rate and level of education of the villagers.
 The income of households from different sources.
 The expenditure of different households.
Page | 8
LFE is an experience based course for the students where they learn about social research,
quantitative and qualitative evaluation, fact-findings, observation and report writing and of
course about rural people and their socio-economic condition. The main purpose of LFE is to
create awareness among the students about the reality of the socio-economic structure of the
rural area of Bangladesh. Most of the people of Bangladesh live in villages.Ultimately, break
down the connection place of surplus gathering and defect gathering of individuals in the country
territory i.e. Hat structure of the Rural range and other related issues.

METHODOLOGY
The report depends on the correspondences barriers, education, facilities, and the contrasts
amongst urban and country area, their wellbeing conditions, their income, their family status,
their way of life and numerous more information.
For researching or collecting the information for LFE course, Independent University,
Bangladesh (IUB) follows two ways, one is digital way (via internet) and another is analogue
way. We have done our survey via questionnaires, there were two questionnaires one is for
household and other one is for adults. Firstly we divided the village into different parts and we
selected the parts by own self for visiting the household. And also we input their data in our
questionnaire. For having their information’s we were given software where these inquiries are
showed up and by utilizing that we took the information.
 Economic condition
 Health condition-
 Environment condition
 Social condition
 Educational condition

CONCLUSION:
In the end of my report I would like to say that, LFE201 course has taught us lots of issue that
will be valuable in our practical life. Those 12 days spent for LFE course was worth learning
various things, which is not possible to learn by text books only.
By this course we knew about rural people, their life style, how they live, their needs and wants,
their works etc. These all things made us realized that life is not easy at all. Those village peoples
are struggling every day to earn their livelihood whereas we are living a luxurious and
comfortable life. Most of them are deprived from education and modern use of technology.
However, we hope that the survey that has been going on for several years will help those people
someday.
In the end, I would again like to thank all respected faculties and monitors.

  • 5. Page | 5 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor . M Omar Rahman for granting us the opportunity to be a part of LFE201 course which is not limited to a course, but a life time experience indeed. Live-in-field experience is a unique course offered to the students of the Independent University Bangladesh. The basic thought behind the LFE coursework is to introduce students to the idea of the rural life and its related problems. It also helps us to understand the rural people, their sufferings, their emotions and their patience. First of all, for this remarkable course I would like to thanks our Coordinator Mrs.Tasmia Farzana. Her supervision and inspiration will be remembered always. The instruction given by her was very effective and encouraged all of us to carry out the fieldwork. Then, I would like to show my gratitude towards our respected and amazing faculties they supported us in each and every aspect throughout the whole LFE201 course. Without their warmth support and encouragement this LFE trip would be so monotonous. For their friendliness and understanding personalities we upheld the trip without our parents and families. I would also like to thanks all of the monitors (NasrinSapna, Bayzid Ahmed Shakhar,SufiBayzid and TaskinTaosib) they all supported us in almost every kind of difficulties like brothers and sister. Whether it was about the survey input or our personal problem, they were always there to help us out in any matter as like a family. Moreover, I would like to thanks all my LFE mates and especially my roommates and my pair . Without all this caring, funny, crazy and entertaining people my LFE journey wouldn’t be that much memorable. After that I would like to thank all the village peoples who helped us and provided valuable information to us which made our field work lot easier. Without their cooperation it could be so hard for me and my pair to complete field work properly. And also thank village peoples for teaching us about life, struggles of life and how to overcome those struggles in life and teaching us something about the actual lifestyle of human being. Lastly, I would like to thanks all the stuff members (specially khaled uncle ) and guides of RRF Tarc,Jessore. They gave their sincere effort in order to fulfill all our needs. If we wouldn’t have had such facilities, we would not have been able enjoy the precious experiences of LFE.
  • 6. Page | 6 INTRODUCTION Bangladesh is a creating nation so there are numerous contrasts amongst urban and provincial territories in light of the fact that the country region is not as create as the urban zone. The rustic individuals don't have the open doors as the urban individuals in the distinctive segment. Floods and cyclones frequently cause severe damage to lives and livelihoods, especially to the poor women who remain particularly vulnerable. The Empowerment and Livelihood Improvement Project, known as NutonJibon project, aims to improve the livelihoods and quality of life of the rural poor, especially the poorest and most vulnerable households. There for the investigation of the rustic zone is vital to know the requirements and needs of the town individuals. The (LFE) life is giving us the opportunity to be part of something completely different from working life. We were taken to Jessore to conduct our survey. Me and My pair were assigned belonging to the village of Vatpara. Studies on Vatpara village are a reflection of the rural Bangladesh. Through this report I tried to analyze the village area, its social change till date, economic condition, including agriculture, health and sanitation, environmental, educational. Vatpara is a small developing village. The village economic is most of dependent on agriculture and land business. The village is enlightened by the light of education. Especially the female education and empowerment, decreasing rates of early marriage, development in communication system is the most optimistic sign of this village. But the darkness of population growth, dowry, superstitions and pollution are awkward the possible greater rate of development. But we hope to see a developed new vatpara in the coming days. So LFE bridges the gap between our historical knowledge and the present, rural and urban life through an empirical study of the roots of our culture.
  • 7. Page | 7 OBJECTIVES OF LFE It is basic to us that a man without a point resembles a ship without a rudder in the sea. The principle target of IUB to direct LFE is to make comfortable the understudies with the rustic life and give some individual genuine and field involvement to them. To accomplish the purpose of LFE, IUB wanted to lead an examination by its understudies in some provincial area. The IUB understudies must be made mindful of this circumstance, so they started to consider approaches to take care of issues and along these lines open up open doors for further social and monetary development. And likewise iub tech to how to persuade individuals with understudies functions. The general targets of the LFE are expressed beneath:  To familiarize urban IUB students with the rural communities as almost 75% of the total population of Bangladesh live in villages.  To learn about the roots of our village culture and tradition.  To know how they are surviving and life style of village’s people.  To study the awareness of the people regarding education of the designated village.  To understand the people’s psychology, perception of a good living and expectations from life.  To find the level of poverty of the village  To learn about the social economy condition of the village people.  To learn House hold information about the demography and the social status of all members of family)  To find out the literacy rate and level of education of the villagers.  The income of households from different sources.  The expenditure of different households.
  • 8. Page | 8 LFE is an experience based course for the students where they learn about social research, quantitative and qualitative evaluation, fact-findings, observation and report writing and of course about rural people and their socio-economic condition. The main purpose of LFE is to create awareness among the students about the reality of the socio-economic structure of the rural area of Bangladesh. Most of the people of Bangladesh live in villages.Ultimately, break down the connection place of surplus gathering and defect gathering of individuals in the country territory i.e. Hat structure of the Rural range and other related issues.
  • 9. Page | 9 METHODOLOGY The report depends on the correspondences barriers, education, facilities, and the contrasts amongst urban and country area, their wellbeing conditions, their income, their family status, their way of life and numerous more information. For researching or collecting the information for LFE course, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) follows two ways, one is digital way (via internet) and another is analogue way. We have done our survey via questionnaires, there were two questionnaires one is for household and other one is for adults. Firstly we divided the village into different parts and we selected the parts by own self for visiting the household. And also we input their data in our questionnaire. For having their information’s we were given software where these inquiries are showed up and by utilizing that we took the information.  Economic condition  Health condition-  Environment condition  Social condition  Educational condition

Those 12 days spent for LFE course was worth learning various things, which is not possible to learn by text books only. By this course we knew about rural people, their life style, how they live, their needs and wants, their works etc. These all things made us realized that life is not easy at all. Those village peoples are struggling every day to earn their livelihood whereas we are living a luxurious and comfortable life. Most of them are deprived from education and modern use of technology. However, we hope that the survey that has been going on for several years will help those people someday. In the end, I would again like to thank all respected faculties and monitors.
