1. Recommendation letter for Susie Lee
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Jihyun Roh, and I work at Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) as a Resettlement
Coordinator.
I got to know Susie when she volunteered for our English Tutor and Cultural Exchange
Program (ETCE Program), which I am in charge of, from April 12 – July 1, 2014. The ETCE
program is run by LiNK to empower resettled North Korean refugees in South Korea, by
helping them improve their English language abilities in support of their academic and career
goals, and also learning about different cultures and perspectives through interacting with
tutors from different backgrounds
Susie was a great asset to the program. She built a good rapport with her resettled North
Korean student and they became good friends while they were studying together. She was
very helpful, patient and understanding when she was tutoring her student. She also
participated in many different cultural activities as part of the ETCE program, not only with her
student but also other students and tutors.
Thanks to her dedicated contribution to the ETCE program, her student was highly motivated
and encouraged to do her best to improve her English skills. The student also enjoyed
learning Australian culture and different perspectives from Susie. Susie was also very
proactive about learning her student’s culture, which inspired the student to be proud of her
home culture and identity as a refugee from North Korea. I would welcome her back any time
to the ETCE Program since she is kind, responsible and a genuine hard worker.
To conclude, I highly recommend Susie Lee. From my past experience working with her, I
believe she will be a valuable member of any team she is a part of in future.
Sincerely,
Jihyun Roh
LiNK Resettlement Coordinator
