Emotional
Intelligence
Emotional intelligence refers to
the ability to identify,
understand and manage one’s
own emotions, as well as the
emotions of others.
Yellow Pond
Strategy
the action of planning how to do or achieve
something.
Yellow Pond
Emotional
Intelligence
Strategies
It is an action of planning how to achieve emotional intelligence
Yellow Pond
Emotional intelligence
(EQ or EI) is one of
the strongest
indicators of success
Yellow Pond
EQ is not only the ability to
identify and manage our
own emotions, but it’s also
the ability to recognize the
emotions of others.
Yellow Pond
Johnson & Johnson found out that the highest performers in the academic and
workforce were also those who displayed a higher emotional intelligence.
Yellow Pond
According to Talent Smart,
90% of high performers
possess high EQ, while
80% of low performers
have low EQ. Simply it
reveals that emotional
intelligence matters.
Yellow Pond
No matter how successful we
become, We’ll always need
emotional intelligence – the
ability to engage others’ feelings
while understanding, managing
and expressing our own.
Yellow Pond
Emotional intelligence fuels
our performance both in
the workplace and in our
personal life, but it starts
with us.
Yellow Pond
Understanding and managing our own emotions can
accelerate success in all areas of our life.
Yellow Pond
When dealing with people, we are
not dealing with creatures of logic.
We are dealing with creatures of
emotion.
Dale Carnegie, How to Win
Friends and Influence People
Yellow Pond
When it comes to
happiness in life,
EQ matters just as
much as IQ.
Yellow Pond
Emotional
Intelligence
The concept of emotional intelligence, or EQ, was
introduced in 1990 by psychologists Peter Salovey,
PhD, and John D. Mayer, PhD, who defined it as
follows:
● The ability to perceive emotions — that is, to
accurately recognize emotions in ourself and
others as they are occurring.
● The ability to use emotions to facilitate
thinking — that is, to guide us to issues that
need our attention.
● The ability to understand emotions — their
causes, meaning, and relationship to
thoughts and behaviors.
● The ability to manage emotions to attain
specific goals.
Yellow Pond
Emotional
Intelligence
Author Daniel Goleman expresses the key
components of EQ in this way:
● Self-awareness — the ability to recognize
and understand personal moods, emotions,
and drives,
● Self-management — the ability to control or
redirect disruptive impulses and moods,
● Empathy — the ability to understand the
emotional experiences and responses of
others,
● Relationship skills — the ability to build
rapport and manage relationships.
