Making the workplace safe includes providing instructions, procedures,
training and supervision to encourage people to work safely and
responsibly.
Even where engineering controls and safe systems of work have been
applied, some hazards might remain. These include injuries to:
the lungs, e.g. from breathing in contaminated air
the head and feet, e.g. from falling materials
the eyes, e.g. from flying particles or splashes of corrosive liquids
the skin, e.g. from contact with corrosive materials
the body, e.g. from extremes of heat or cold
PPE is needed in these cases to reduce the risk.

 Hand Gloves needed when
work presents the potential
of causing hand injury from
physical, chemical, or
radiation agents.
 Protect from dust and dirt
CARE & MAINTENANCE
 Check prior to each use for
cuts, discoloration etc.
 Replace as necessary
 Discard single use gloves
after use(Latex, Nitrile, Vinyl,
etc)
 Store in a clean area

 Protect from Dust and Dirt
 Protect our face while using
chemicals

Needed when work presents hazards that have potential to
cause a foot injury :
Example of Hazards:
 Falling Objects
 Rolling Objects
 Piercing / Cutting Injuries
 Electrical Work
 Chemical Exposure
CARE & MAINTENANCE
 Check safety shoes before use for
cuts, cracks or other damage. Replace
as necessary
 Keep your shoe neat, clean and dry
 Chemical resistant shoes should be
replaced.
 Store all shoes in a clean, dry location
