2. Introduction
The main product within the task is the Horror Film which was created in combination with two
ancillary tasks of a Poster and Film Review of the Horror Film created. These products will aid in
creating an effective combination and similarity between the main products and the ancillary
tasks. This links will suggest a connection between the products to ensure that the users can easily
see a consistent link between the products and texts to know they are all from the same movie
and have more of memorable visual effect as these combination of elements within the products
will collate the house styles of the film and create connotations which users will associate this film
with.
3. Masthead
The first element which had a clear link between the products was the masthead design of the product. The font used within the
Masthead was called ‘Chalkduster’ and ‘Arial’ which was consistently shown across all my 3 products. As clearly shown, the
typography between the movies main masthead, posters masthead and the reviews masthead all consist of using the same typeface
of font but in different colours. As shown on the movie, the colour is black with a white outline, followed by the poster and review
having a main colour scheme of red. This simply ensures that all the colours within my theme are used consistency such as red, white
and black.
Through using the same style masthead and font, it ensures that the products have a direct link with one another to assure that they
are associated with one another and can be identified that it all belongs to the same movie due to the house style which allows the
audience to cause memorability to easily remember by looking at the poster of what movie and review is with it.
4. Colours and Theme (1)
Additionally, another feature which is consist between the poster and review is the background
colour. This is clearly visible as the colour is black on the poster and review. This was because the
theme of the background colour of black empathised the connotations of ‘mystery and dark
atmosphere’ and through having a direct link between the two, it ensures the link between the
products to remain strong as there is a clear correlation.
5. Colour and Theme (2)
Furthermore, the other two elements which are part of the colour scheme are red and white. This is again empathised within the 3 products
as stated and shown below. As the movie consists of using the antagonist face as the red aspect, followed by the white and black colours of
the title presented in the film. The colours of red and white are used on the poster and review in the same manner. Evidently the red is used
for the main masthead and sources of information such as the strapline, but the rest of the content is written in white on the poster through
the credits and the review itself. This is due to the fact that it makes it easier for the user to read white writing on a background compared
to using red or black on a black background. The red colour also within the review is used as the border. This is because firstly, it ensures
that all the colours of the theme are correctly used within the products to ensure they fit under the conventions of red, black and white.
Furthermore the use of red as the border colour adds the effect of a ‘bloody’ effect to fit within the horror genre of being bloody related
and also symbolises the antagonist’s face of having blood on there.
6. Language (1)
The language used was fairly different from the products. To start with, the language used within the movie was mainly
a representation of the how the characters personalities consist of such as the teenager/young adult stage. Thus, the
reasoning of the language within the movie being heavily informal. However, this ensured that a clear representation
was done to portray the characters in a natural form and not restricted just because the camera were rolling. This
naturalness encouraged the use of empathising on the fact of making the film natural as possible, therefore making the
film effective through the horror aspect such as jump scares.
The language used within the poster was quite formal, which questioned the link
between the product of the film and review. However, this was primarily due to
the fact that there was limited written content on the poster, not enabling the
use of informal language as I had to prioritise poster conventions over the use of
language. The reason the language is formal is because of the production line
title, director’s name, and the credits with the masthead/strapline. This just
evidently shows that there wasn’t a chance to add the use of informal language
as the main reasoning of the poster was to advertise quickly to the user to watch
the film.

7. Language (2)
The language used within the review was similar to the movie as there was a variety of formal
and informal language which can be considered of being linked to the poster too. But generally,
there was a link between the review and film on the language feature due to the fact that there
was a wide range of ‘humour and bluntness used with slight swear words’. Hence the reason
there is a link between the film and review – through the similarity of language used.
The language in a certain persona is similar
between the 3 products on a slight level. This
simply ensures that the products have
somewhat of a link between them instead of no
link. This will simply ensure to some extent that
the audience members will be able to pinpoint
the similarities to associate the products with
one another or identify them together to know
they are the same movie.

8. Image
There was a range of images used on my products, more specifically on my poster and review. The image used on the poster
consisted of only the picture of the antagonist. This was because it identifies the antagonist on the poster, symbolises it as a horror
poster and therefore becomes effective. However the use of the antagonist wasn’t used across all my products as the review never
had a picture of the antagonist as from the feedback, it wasn’t fitting. Therefore it doesn’t have a specific link between each other.
However on the film review I used a range of 3 images consisted of screenshots from the film. This can therefore result in using the
images from the film, creating a seamless link between the film and review.
Overall for the image portion of the media product, it symbolised clear links between one another. However, the pictures
were mainly used from the film to be placed on the poster and review, hence stating the link between the 3 products.
